  • 2 peoples don't like what the Poets are doing....

  • Don't tell me what the poets are doing

  • On your feet people...0:50

  • If the Queen doesn't like too fucking bad, go back to the UK and listen to the Sex Pistols then grandma.....

  • At the very end the queen looks politely bemused. She should've hired the hip to play prince william's wedding - it would've more interesting.

  • see 'em 20+ times live. always a joy. this just allows me to remember how amazing they are when I can't see 'em. watch 'Put It Off', surely the best Hip Song.

  • Took out "porn" for "poem", yet used "laid" instead of "paid".....gotta love Gord.

  • Swim Swim Not To me Not To him Swim Swim Swim! From Within! Swim! You Can Cross The lake! Swim! Remember Honey Remember Honey Swim! Not Because there's a six-foot dorsal fin closing in. Swim, honey! Swim. From Within You got the laminar flow You know how I know. I'll follow you in my baby blue canoe. I'm gonna support you. I'm gonna hand your lunch your breakfast and your dinner too. On a 25 foot pole of bamboo. Why? Because I don't wanna disqualify you, Baby! Swim to daddy honey. Swim!
  • LMAO! See Queenie at the end? Sittin' there with a 'what the fuck?' look on her face!

  • damn that was awesome!

  • God that was great. I loved all the referances to other songs in there. Mean Streak and The Heart of the Melt...great songs too.

  • "Only bit of guitar"? Whats that mean?

  • Bring out yer dead !!!!

OMFG!!!!ROFL!!!!! The Pythons would be proud!!! swim dude swim from within!!!!

  • the sssssssssssssssound

  • @leegee63 steeplechase (battle of the nudes 2003 GD solo album)

  • swim swimmmmm

  • Oh yea, I saw Tom Petty play RIGHT after them.. that was fucking cool.

  • A bad night? I don't think the hip have 'bad nights'.

Amazing performance, every time i've seen them.. and that's 7 now. Last time was at Pemberton Festival, BC, August 2008. Mountains in the background, etc.. amazing...... amazing.

  • @TheMease hey Man... I agree... its that sssssssssssound... that gets right down deep inside of you... I've seen them 14 times... last time was with 33,000 other HIP fans in Bobcaygeon in 2011... it was sssssssssssuper....

  • Singers voice is awsome

  • haha awesome is an understatement!!! :P

  • wow. classic rendition.

  • whaddya mean "bad night"? This is perfect, exactly what you get live...complete with Gord's diatribes. The other song they sung "It's a good life if you don't weaken" was studio-like. Gord was well behaved on that one.

  • Hilarious. HM Queen looks as if she's ticked off being on our money. Bring out yer dead!

  • "Bring out your dead!"

LOL, awesome! I'd love to catch The Hip live.

  • the queen just got owned...i hope she croaks (i think she did)

  • Obviously the Queen couldn't give a rats ass about The Hip , bout how could we expect her too? her loss... lol

  • gordie is totally effed in live shows

  • ssssnake?

  • ohhhh man... these guys are fucking awesome!

  • Stupid queen, I wish I could command the Hip to play for me...

  • lol, i hear ya, i couldn't agree more

  • I've seen Gord and the boys many times and if I had to pick a favourite song this would be it. If you get the chance they are an awesome live band. Thanks for posting, great vid!!

  • lawn cut by bare breasted women...gordo you effin genius. i live in buffalo ny and am so sorry for the rest of the counry not familiar with canadian music...look up sam roberts, blue rodeo, lowset of the low...

  • That's what I'm talkin' about! The Hip and Sam Roberts are two of my favourites. Fortunately I live 20 minutes away from Kingston, so I get to see the Hip quite a bit!

  • Those are two of my favorites as well! :)

  • bring out ur dad!

  • bring out your dead, I think

  • and i, cant find, the time, to mind

  • omg, the drumming in this vid is awesome. It sounds slightly slower?. amazing. That right. hes been getting reprieve from the heat in the frozen food section. Amazing line. lol

  • I cannot fucking wait to see these guys live in september in halifax. its like a fucking dream come true!

  • I saw them last night here in Vancouver and Gordy was in rare form. They blew the doors off the place like I knew they would. Have a good time Sept. Mattbedard.

  • I love at the beginning when he says "the 'shhhhhh' sound!" and then the rest of the band comes in. God, it's such a good feeling.

  • Unfreakinbelievable!!! They have to be the greatest performance band ever!

  • hahahaha! the queen was probably thinking, "WTF?"

  • That was in front of the Queen - how perfect. These guys perfectly rep Canada!

  • True art in real time at every show. They are consistent and never fake. Each show Ive seen, they always give you something unrehearsed. It seems as if it's a way of making it personal for you, because you came to see a show, could be their way of saying thank you in a classy musician way. Oh and yes,....I am Canadian.........

  • TRUE ART IN REAL TIME AT EVERY SHOW

    couldn't have said it better

  • i love the start of the song. best start of a song ive heard by the hip

  • The Hip = Rock and Roll Baby !

  • i love these guys, they are great in concert haha

i went and it was exellent, looooove them to death haha

  • Haha Gord is the man. I think he just yells out what whatever is on his mind in between verses. I love it

  • JAn 27th Hip concert...i hope gord downey doesnt butcher the songs

  • Gordon doesnt butcher songs, he makes them better

  • Damn straight.

  • Gord Downie hopes you don't butcher his audience.

  • that "shh sound of the long grass" piece during the solo is a part of one song on In Between Evolution, i can't remember which

  • Meanstreak i think

  • it's actually part of Poets. "Don't tell me what the Poet's been doing in the LONG GRASSES over time."

Could be part of IBE as well, but I think he quotes it in this song because it's in the actual lyrics.

  • No, it is from Meanstreak

  • why do you think he uses it during this song though? it's because of the long grass line in Poets Mr. Narrowminded

  • Entirely possible of course, but I was responding to the first part of your message when you said "It's actually part of Poets," in response to someone else saying it was from Meanstreak.

Anyways, while it is possible, Gordie always just goes on about god knows what at any random time. I have many times seen him quote one song in more than a few other songs each.

  • He doesn't do it at any random time, he does it between verses (which is decidedly not a random time -- it's a very specific time).

Just another example of the rampant misuse of the word random which currently plagues our language.

  • amen! I hate that word so much now, and I resent hating it because I like words! But dummies made me hate it.

  • Also he talks about the same topics and uses the same phrases in multiple situations a lot. For example: "Garbage bag trees", "Gripping the city, hitting the town", and he even has made reference to tall grass like things on other occasions than this (Meridian: "Wheat standing shoulder high").

  • i've seen gord downie buying groceries, and i live in kingston

  • I want them to play in NYC already. I am like the only hip fan that doesn't live in canada or the north country.

  • April 24 & 25, 2007. Irving Plaze, NYC

  • i wish gord downie was my family friend

  • Gord Downie isn't my family friend.

  • Gord Downie is my family friend!

  • sick
