i agree with "justlaxn32". This guy is telling us that Jaguar and Aston are rivals, hows that? They're all one company: Land Rover, Jaguar, and Aston Martin are all one one company. This guy needs to get his facts right. Plus, Jaguar falls under the category of Luxury, whereas Aston Martin is an Exotic Car. They aren't rivals whatsoever!

Jag for me. Especially the '10 version with 510 bhp. Much more substance than the Vantage. I'd say the top competitor to the XKR would be the BMW M6 (I'd still take the Jag everytime).

They are both great cars, but definitely I have to go with the Aston. Its looks, and sounds so much better. Who cares if its not as fast, its fast enough as it is especially with the new 4.7L power plant. The aston will get you noticed, and the Jaguar is just a jaguar copied off an Aston.

Yeah, but copying the design of an Aston is no bad thing. And as the cars were designed by the same bloke its no surprise they look similar. I'd take hard top Jaguar XKR. But like you say, both great cars.

Actually they were not designed by the same bloke - The Jag was designed by Ian Callum; the Vantage by Henrik Fisker. And the Aston's look is so far and away superior. The muscular stance, that sleek side window profile, upthrust rear - the Jag isn't even in the same league.

I can't speak to the driving comparison though - I haven't driven the Jag.

that is a subjective statement. i say the aston, at best, looks 'as good' as the jaguar. in fact, i think the jaguar looks better. my opinion.

None of the cars are copies of each other as they were designed by the same people in England. I'm lucky to have driven both as a friend of mine (Birmingham) owns an XKR and his mate owns the Aston. I didn't drive them flat out even though I would like to have. I don't think that there is much differennce. They are great cars with a great herirtage which is more than I can say for any boring square box that BMW make.

Yea my dad and I test drove both of them before deciding on the Aston. So I guess i have a little bias. But seriously the aston martin looks and sounds so much better. Even though the jag may be faster the aston feels way faster because of the sound coming from behind you.

I love both so much, the Jag is the one i'd buy, especially the new XKR which is a match for a DBS, with it's new 510hp motor.

If i win the lottery i'm having both of them!
