  • No mention of VCRs? Beta and VHS came out around 75.

  • @andrewcheadle

Years mentioned are for North America.

Although Beta (1975) and VHS (1977) came out in the 1970s, VCRs did not hit their stride until around the early 1980s when commoditization and more efficient design allowed reductions in price for both decks and cassettes as well as the establishment of the home video market, particularly rentals.

  • @andrewcheadle They didn't go mainstream until around 1983, and for some, cost was prohibitive.
