What do pro-life people do to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies?
I'm pro-choice because I don't want a poor, uneducated , young girl, raising a child. This would not be fair to the child, or (in the long run) fair to our society.
It takes a male and a female to conceive. A woman does have the sole right to her body and determine pregnancy outcome. However, when a child is conceived--it is not just about the woman anymore. This is not just a woman's issue where the man has no say b/c if it wasn't for him you wouldn't be pregnant. This is not a male vs. female issue. This is a serious issue that affects woman, man, child, and society as a whole.

@ChristianMusician85 your right man. this whole argument about not having a choice, and "I could do whatever I want with my body" is so disgusting. @apestaartje321, no, it's NOT their body. It's the baby's body that's killed. I have no problem with what a woman does with her own body. If she wants to kill herself, that's her choice. Just leave the baby safely in the care of someone else before it's done.
i'm pro choice this means also in her rights to use and access contraception, no else has the right to force a women to reproduce, just as it is her right choose to continue a pregnancy is her choice and her right to do so without manipulation from the so called pregnancy centers run by religious groups.
"It is only if human life is respected from conception to death that the ethics of peace is also possible and credible," concluded the Pope. "It is only then that non-violence can express itself in every direction; only then that we truly welcome creation, and only then that we can arrive at true justice." Pope Benedict XVI
If you are a man, you have a dick, and you cannot get pregnant. Stop trying to control women in everything, like you always have for thousands of years, and let her choose where she wants her life to go.
If she wants to kill her child in the womb, that is her womb and her child that she is responsible for. She had the egg cell. All your sperm did was submit it's DNA and die. Now it's back to just her again. You have a VERY small part in reproduction.
@setustraight nicely said and very true. But it's not just the man who wants to control a woman's body, but other women as well.Women and men that work with adoption Agencies and CPS.You know the Multi-billion dollar Industry that takes babies and sells them to adopters at $40,000.00 or more dollars. Not only do they get money from adopters, but our tax payers and Government grants for each baby that comes into their Industry.
Free birth control for everyone! But not abortions, the person getting the abortion should have to pay for it. If they failed to use the first line of defense correctly, I think people should have to pay for their carelessness, but with money, not a baby!
@Oreceo you said it well.Thank you.I don't under stand why people would want to stop and banned other options(choices) and only give a woman the option to give birth and adoption? Are we nothing more to them, then a breading machine???
Considering that the bulk of anti-abortion pushes are conservative Christians (and with 75% of the ringleaders being male), yes, you could call women "breeding machines." Because thats what they are in religious terms, unequal and unworthy of choice.
Then, of course, came the womens movement and we could vote for the first time.
This not only means banning abortion, but also discouraging all sexual knowledge and access to services. Even vaccines are claimed to "promote promiscuity."
@Dead In other words, people don't want to be held accountable for their actions. If this were the case, people shouldn't be given DUI's because they were drinking to have fun, why should they be punished with a DUI? Because it's a decisoin they make knowing full well the consequences if they get caught.Just as with conception,do these women know what causes pregnancy? If so, they must take responsibility for their actions.
@DeadlyChinchilla Do you have any evidence to back up your claims? Christians do not say women are "breeding machines, unequal and unworthy of choice." God chose a woman, Mary, to bear His son (and yes, she chose to do so). The Christian view of women is that they are to be treated equal, not the other way around. This is speaking as a Christian, one who rejects abortion on scientific grounds, not religious.
@DeadlyChinchilla you choose whether or not to have sex, at leasti n most situations. YOu shouldn't have the right to kill another human just because it gets in the way of you being a whore and having lots of sex like a nasty bitch
@ash Prochoice basicaly says that women are not in control of their bodies, therefore they make decisions which causes the newly created life to need their body. They themselves made the decision, knowing full well that sex ALWAYS=possibility of pregnancy. We teach 3 yr.olds to take responsibility for their actions.Yet when fully grown women can't,we condone the killing of their own children.
I think that the argument you are using is interesting.
However, I think, that once one brings a sentient entity into the world one has a moral obligation. ;).
Fortunately, I've done some research into the sentience thing and that kicks in after probably about 7 months when neural synapsis occur.
The law may indeed recognise its your body and give you the ultimate legal power to do it, but I'd still think killing a sentient human without a very good reason would be immoral.Shoot me? ;).
Arguing on sentience is a little... far fetched? The way I think of it is as a body part. It grows completely within the womans body.
Say someone needs a kidney, and you say *no* to donation. The government takes it from you anyway, as the issue of a sentient being needing one to live 'outweighs' the kidney owners rights (ie: right to life). Thats even an existing life (not a likely one) so its MORE moral to steal the kidney.
Or maybe its not so moral just because a lifes in question.
@100chemPro-deathers frequently reproach pro-lifers for not being willing to adopt every potential aborted baby. No one person can adopt the millions of infants aborted every year. To throw in hyperbole and then berate their inability to fulfill an unreasonable statement is ridiculous. The moral question of society's responsibility of adoption is immaterial to the debate of abortion itself.?
I am prochoice because I am pro kids! I dont want the right to tell a women to have 8 babies she dosent want , & wont love or guide. I care too much about kids growing up in a loving, nurturing home with people who adore him!
@Sueezee1 you are right choice goes both ways. ;). That's what choice means. The mother chooses. Society can't force you to have abortions, it can't stop u from having sex and it can stop u from choosing to abort. The moral choice and the IMPLICATIONS of that choice are both on the mother.
I don't concern myself with the reasons why a woman should decide that abortion is the best choice for her. It's enough for me to know that she doesn't wish to be pregnant any longer.
@Tr991 -- I think that position is a bit of a cop out although it depends whether you are discussing the legal issue or the moral one. One can debate the moral one and different people will have differing opinions on it like almost every other moral issue you can name. Hiding under a rock on these issues is silly.
The woman makes a choice. Its up to her to decide what arguments convince her to make the choice she does. Freedom doesn't mean censorship ;).
I'm pro-choice because, well, consider the following;
If you constitute a ban on going to a nude beach hot-tub then you are therefore going against the consent of those who enjoy the activity. If you mandate it, you are going against the consent of those who don't. If you legalize it, then those who mind to themselves are free to chose in their lives whether or not to go to the nudie tub, despite what someone else thinks of your decision to do so.
So he's man enough to get you in bed, but not man enough to marry you, take care of you, and your children????? Where's woman's dignity? In a used condom I guess....along with the man's cowardice.
It isn't his body. He doesn't have the threat of pregnancy and labor over his head. He doesn't have to risk pre-eclampsia or
I know I was a fetus. But when I was a fetus, I didn't know I was a fetus. Why? Because a fetus isn't sentient. It can't think or feel, regardless of what some propaganda may say. If I had been aborted, I would have never known.
With all respect, the argument is extremely weak. Most people don't remember what happened to them when they were 2 or even 3.....Would that mean infanticide is ok?
Say the facts, please...you don't remember. A baby does not remember, but it does feel....Simple embryology....simple biology....simple science.
when a man can push a baby out of his pee whole, tell him to call me. otherwise. stfu. and we see more and more fathers abandoning their babies and the mothers, leaving them to fend for themselves.
exactly, a baby, like a tumor, drains the body of resources- outlawing abortion makes as little sense as outlawing tumor removal. Should a victim of malignant tumors not have them removed because its "just a pleasant little virus trying to make its way"?
I'm personally not trying to get in a fight. If you want to sit down and actually talk about this like an adult, I'll be waiting. But ignorant remarks like those aren't going to get me to think better of your stance on this issue.
Funny, nobody says what is a science fact. Abortion kills a separate human life. That's the fact taught in medical textbooks and scientists don't argue.
Look at the bastards in China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, New Guinea, and many other developing countries in Asia and North Africa. Who is getting aborted often? The females! Obviously that's because (Men) want more males on the planet then female, because they fear that women will control everything, if their are more females on the planet. Women really think about it all before you just say I'm pro life, don't you want control over your body? Don't let them control
Excellent video, I'm pro choice all the way. There's nothing wrong with aborting a Embryo/undeveloped Fetus. Some women are not mentally ready to have a baby, not educated towards other options, or are raped etc. We do need abortion, and it has helped, such as balancing out the number of human beings, maybe we could overcome poverty eh lol. 77 percent of anti abortion leaders are (Men). Some men want to control the womens body, not only that but choose what gender should get aborted more often
The "My Body" argument is as selfish as it gets. A child shouldn't die just because some woman got too horny.
Notice how pro-choice women only think about themselves. They do not think about the child's rights.
Why should a woman have the right to control the fate of the baby and the baby's body?
Yes, being a parent is a big responsibility, but when you have sex, you consent to the risk of pregnancy, and there are responsibilities that must be taken, when you take risks.
I personally believe that these people aren't selfish. First of all, they are talking about not only their bodies, but also they care about the well-being of a child. As one of the women said: every baby should be wanted. If we force people against their will to have a baby that they don't want, it could have horrible effects. Not only the mother could be unprepared for motherhood and not be with somebody she actually loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with,
but as well she could put the baby in a situation where they aren't nurtured and cared for at all in the prime years for developing human relationships. The baby could have emotional problems and would know that they personally weren't wanted. Do we want millions of babies to have this feeling towards their families and parents, people who normally should be the people they can look to when they are feeling sad? And if somebody says, "oh why don't they give them up for
adoption," they should know that the numbers of children in foster care and adoption would steeply rise and children would also not know their parents. So basically, pro choice is the way to go because of these two reaons AND because a woman owns her body.
That's no excuse. When you have sexual intercourse, you consent to the risk of pregnancy. If you really don't want a child, don't put wrath on it just because of your actions. Adoption is the loving option.
I guess I just don't believe that. We all have different opinions, I just think that personally we should all live according to our moral code, not impose them on others. You can be pro choice and still not have an abortion. But banning it from happening is unnecessary. No matter how small the percentages of those who have abortions for reasons such as rape and the baby harming the mother, illegalizing abortion would take away their chances, too.
I know that you can be pro-choice and not have an abortion, but it's still supporting abortion.
I know that illegal abortions will still occur even if abortion was illegal, but robbing banks are illegal, and they still happen. You break the law at your own risk.
95% of abortions are due to it's an 'inconvenience'. Only 5% of abortions are for extreme cases.
Don't you think people need to be a little more careful?
I wouldn't consider it "supporting abortion", but supporting the choice of those who want to get an abortion.
The basic point I was trying to get across was that while you stress the rights of the child, illegalizing abortions would deny the rights of that 5% of people that are in situations beyond their control. And saying five percent makes it seem so small, but in reality, five percent represents hundreds of thousands of people that's rights are being denied.
P.S. I do think that you have a point when you say that people should be more careful, but I also believe that right now, the proper teaching curriculums for sex ed in schools and other places doesn't allow for it to be any easier. the more educated people are, the more necessary precautions they will take.
True, 5% ain't a low number. I can understand for reasons such as rape, incest, severe birth defects, or the mother's life is threatened. I just don't agree with it being used as a method of birth control, as that could've been easily prevented before the woman got pregnant.
You're right. It shouldn't be used as a method of birth control. I think you have some really good points. I still am pro choice, and you are still pro life, but at least were able to talk about it in a civil way.
."According to CDC govt.data, over 64,000 abortions in a year are performed on women who had had three or more previous abortions.& so that justifies the killing? Unless the life of the mother is at stake,It is just wrong! Some 25 years later we had Roe v Wade -&the deliberate killing of unborn human life suddenly became a 'choice' and a 'women's right'. We need to make up our minds about abortion. Human wrong or human right? This has to be the worst ever case of double standards in human history!
Yes! People DO need to be more careful, but this isn't an issue of legalizing or illegalizing abortion. You said it yourself- illegal or not, things happen. This is an issue that begins with schools, with things like comprehensive sex education, improved access to contraceptives for teenagers, improved health coverage for birth control, and TALKING. Knowledge is power, especially for teenagers- the group in which the most "inconvenienced" abortions occur.
@penguinnikki Which by the way pro-lifers and Christians want to have banned( birth control and contraceptives) as well as abortion. They know all about teenage pregnancy and don't want to stop it,but encourage it by given only one option adoption!! Their way to make money off it.
Its not okay to kill fetuses, no matter what the law says. when you become pregnant, you become a mother, whether you like the idea or not. its contrary to human nature for a woman to kill her own offspring. lets not be selfish. we care so much for stray dogs, endangered elephants, and the environment; its time we showed some concern for innocent babies, fully formed or not. A WOMANS RIGHTS OVER HER BODY END WHERE THE BABYS BODY BEGINS. no law can justify the killing
aborting babies will never stop and even if it is illegalized, would you want to go to the level of having pregnant teenagers having to go to other countries or try and get rid of babies themselves?
Ok, first of all, if you haven't noticed, we are right next to the border of mexico. Teenagers that have their driver's license's can drive and those who aren't able to do that may try to get rid of the baby using drugs or other things and harm themselves in the process. Also, they might get illegal abortions here. Just making it illegal isn't going to make it stop.
And for the second part of your comment, could you clarify how that even pertains to what we are talking about?
I believe a woman has the right to choose not to get pregnant. I believe a woman has the right to choose to give a baby to adoption. I do not believe any woman has to right to kill another human to end an inconvenient pregnancy. I believe law may be used to ban most abortions. If there is any reason we have laws, it is to protect the innocent and the helpless.
I am pro-choice, but I want to reduce the number of abortions, so I want to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies, so I want to make birth control more widely available and affordable, so I support Planned Parenthood's efforts to do exactly that. I occasionally donate a (very) little money, but more often I buy condoms, take them to their health centers and donate them.

i'm pro choice this means also in her rights to use and access contraception, no else has the right to force a women to reproduce, just as it is her right choose to continue a pregnancy is her choice and her right to do so without manipulation from the so called pregnancy centers run by religious groups.

Here's how it goes.
You have a VERY small part in reproduction.
setustraight 1 year ago 3
@setustraight nicely said and very true. But it's not just the man who wants to control a woman's body, but other women as well.Women and men that work with adoption Agencies and CPS.You know the Multi-billion dollar Industry that takes babies and sells them to adopters at $40,000.00 or more dollars. Not only do they get money from adopters, but our tax payers and Government grants for each baby that comes into their Industry.
ashatbulaparanormal 1 year ago
Free birth control for everyone! But not abortions, the person getting the abortion should have to pay for it. If they failed to use the first line of defense correctly, I think people should have to pay for their carelessness, but with money, not a baby!

ashatbulaparanormal 2 years ago
Considering that the bulk of anti-abortion pushes are conservative Christians (and with 75% of the ringleaders being male), yes, you could call women "breeding machines." Because thats what they are in religious terms, unequal and unworthy of choice.
Then, of course, came the womens movement and we could vote for the first time.
This not only means banning abortion, but also discouraging all sexual knowledge and access to services. Even vaccines are claimed to "promote promiscuity."
DeadlyChinchilla 2 years ago 19
@Dead In other words, people don't want to be held accountable for their actions. If this were the case, people shouldn't be given DUI's because they were drinking to have fun, why should they be punished with a DUI? Because it's a decisoin they make knowing full well the consequences if they get caught.Just as with conception,do these women know what causes pregnancy? If so, they must take responsibility for their actions.
angelshoulders 1 year ago
@DeadlyChinchilla Do you have any evidence to back up your claims? Christians do not say women are "breeding machines, unequal and unworthy of choice." God chose a woman, Mary, to bear His son (and yes, she chose to do so). The Christian view of women is that they are to be treated equal, not the other way around. This is speaking as a Christian, one who rejects abortion on scientific grounds, not religious.
ChristianMusician85 1 year ago

The law may indeed recognise its your body and give you the ultimate legal power to do it, but I'd still think killing a sentient human without a very good reason would be immoral.Shoot me? ;).
truevoiceofsanity 2 years ago

@Sueezee1 you are right choice goes both ways. ;). That's what choice means. The mother chooses. Society can't force you to have abortions, it can't stop u from having sex and it can stop u from choosing to abort. The moral choice and the IMPLICATIONS of that choice are both on the mother.

I don't concern myself with the reasons why a woman should decide that abortion is the best choice for her. It's enough for me to know that she doesn't wish to be pregnant any longer.
She has sovereignty over her own body.
Tr991 2 years ago 5
@Tr991 -- I think that position is a bit of a cop out although it depends whether you are discussing the legal issue or the moral one. One can debate the moral one and different people will have differing opinions on it like almost every other moral issue you can name. Hiding under a rock on these issues is silly.
The woman makes a choice. Its up to her to decide what arguments convince her to make the choice she does. Freedom doesn't mean censorship ;).

Pro-choice. It's a woman's body - why should the government have control over it?
xMiZZxARiCAx 2 years ago 3
I'm pro-choice because, well, consider the following;
If you constitute a ban on going to a nude beach hot-tub then you are therefore going against the consent of those who enjoy the activity. If you mandate it, you are going against the consent of those who don't. If you legalize it, then those who mind to themselves are free to chose in their lives whether or not to go to the nudie tub, despite what someone else thinks of your decision to do so.

penguinnikki 3 years ago 4
With all respect, the argument is extremely weak. Most people don't remember what happened to them when they were 2 or even 3.....Would that mean infanticide is ok?

exactly, a baby, like a tumor, drains the body of resources- outlawing abortion makes as little sense as outlawing tumor removal. Should a victim of malignant tumors not have them removed because its "just a pleasant little virus trying to make its way"?

Look at the bastards in China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, New Guinea, and many other developing countries in Asia and North Africa. Who is getting aborted often? The females! Obviously that's because (Men) want more males on the planet then female, because they fear that women will control everything, if their are more females on the planet. Women really think about it all before you just say I'm pro life, don't you want control over your body? Don't let them control
Ichliebemusikundybd 3 years ago
Excellent video, I'm pro choice all the way. There's nothing wrong with aborting a Embryo/undeveloped Fetus. Some women are not mentally ready to have a baby, not educated towards other options, or are raped etc. We do need abortion, and it has helped, such as balancing out the number of human beings, maybe we could overcome poverty eh lol. 77 percent of anti abortion leaders are (Men). Some men want to control the womens body, not only that but choose what gender should get aborted more often
Ichliebemusikundybd 3 years ago 3
The "My Body" argument is as selfish as it gets. A child shouldn't die just because some woman got too horny.
Notice how pro-choice women only think about themselves. They do not think about the child's rights.
Why should a woman have the right to control the fate of the baby and the baby's body?
Yes, being a parent is a big responsibility, but when you have sex, you consent to the risk of pregnancy, and there are responsibilities that must be taken, when you take risks.
TheWebman1200 3 years ago
I personally believe that these people aren't selfish. First of all, they are talking about not only their bodies, but also they care about the well-being of a child. As one of the women said: every baby should be wanted. If we force people against their will to have a baby that they don't want, it could have horrible effects. Not only the mother could be unprepared for motherhood and not be with somebody she actually loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with,
carl33n3 3 years ago 2
but as well she could put the baby in a situation where they aren't nurtured and cared for at all in the prime years for developing human relationships. The baby could have emotional problems and would know that they personally weren't wanted. Do we want millions of babies to have this feeling towards their families and parents, people who normally should be the people they can look to when they are feeling sad? And if somebody says, "oh why don't they give them up for
carl33n3 3 years ago 2
adoption," they should know that the numbers of children in foster care and adoption would steeply rise and children would also not know their parents. So basically, pro choice is the way to go because of these two reaons AND because a woman owns her body.
carl33n3 3 years ago
That's no excuse. When you have sexual intercourse, you consent to the risk of pregnancy. If you really don't want a child, don't put wrath on it just because of your actions. Adoption is the loving option.
TheWebman1200 3 years ago
I guess I just don't believe that. We all have different opinions, I just think that personally we should all live according to our moral code, not impose them on others. You can be pro choice and still not have an abortion. But banning it from happening is unnecessary. No matter how small the percentages of those who have abortions for reasons such as rape and the baby harming the mother, illegalizing abortion would take away their chances, too.
carl33n3 3 years ago
I know that you can be pro-choice and not have an abortion, but it's still supporting abortion.
I know that illegal abortions will still occur even if abortion was illegal, but robbing banks are illegal, and they still happen. You break the law at your own risk.
95% of abortions are due to it's an 'inconvenience'. Only 5% of abortions are for extreme cases.
Don't you think people need to be a little more careful?
TheWebman1200 3 years ago
I wouldn't consider it "supporting abortion", but supporting the choice of those who want to get an abortion.
The basic point I was trying to get across was that while you stress the rights of the child, illegalizing abortions would deny the rights of that 5% of people that are in situations beyond their control. And saying five percent makes it seem so small, but in reality, five percent represents hundreds of thousands of people that's rights are being denied.
carl33n3 3 years ago
P.S. I do think that you have a point when you say that people should be more careful, but I also believe that right now, the proper teaching curriculums for sex ed in schools and other places doesn't allow for it to be any easier. the more educated people are, the more necessary precautions they will take.
carl33n3 3 years ago
True, 5% ain't a low number. I can understand for reasons such as rape, incest, severe birth defects, or the mother's life is threatened. I just don't agree with it being used as a method of birth control, as that could've been easily prevented before the woman got pregnant.
TheWebman1200 3 years ago
You're right. It shouldn't be used as a method of birth control. I think you have some really good points. I still am pro choice, and you are still pro life, but at least were able to talk about it in a civil way.
carl33n3 3 years ago
."According to CDC govt.data, over 64,000 abortions in a year are performed on women who had had three or more previous abortions.& so that justifies the killing? Unless the life of the mother is at stake,It is just wrong! Some 25 years later we had Roe v Wade -&the deliberate killing of unborn human life suddenly became a 'choice' and a 'women's right'. We need to make up our minds about abortion. Human wrong or human right? This has to be the worst ever case of double standards in human history!
angelshoulders 2 years ago
Knowledge is power, especially for teenagers- the group in which the most "inconvenienced" abortions occur.
penguinnikki 3 years ago
@penguinnikki Which by the way pro-lifers and Christians want to have banned( birth control and contraceptives) as well as abortion. They know all about teenage pregnancy and don't want to stop it,but encourage it by given only one option adoption!! Their way to make money off it.
ashatbulaparanormal 2 years ago
Its not okay to kill fetuses, no matter what the law says. when you become pregnant, you become a mother, whether you like the idea or not. its contrary to human nature for a woman to kill her own offspring. lets not be selfish. we care so much for stray dogs, endangered elephants, and the environment; its time we showed some concern for innocent babies, fully formed or not. A WOMANS RIGHTS OVER HER BODY END WHERE THE BABYS BODY BEGINS. no law can justify the killing
marmstrong35160 3 years ago
aborting babies will never stop and even if it is illegalized, would you want to go to the level of having pregnant teenagers having to go to other countries or try and get rid of babies themselves?
carl33n3 3 years ago
that is a retarded argument, how many teenagers are going to be able to go to a different country to kill their babies?
people still use heroin and smoke crack, should we legalize that too?
trevoreriksmoen 3 years ago
Ok, first of all, if you haven't noticed, we are right next to the border of mexico. Teenagers that have their driver's license's can drive and those who aren't able to do that may try to get rid of the baby using drugs or other things and harm themselves in the process. Also, they might get illegal abortions here. Just making it illegal isn't going to make it stop.
And for the second part of your comment, could you clarify how that even pertains to what we are talking about?
carl33n3 3 years ago
@trevoreriksmoen yes
