  • I wouldn't care...... I like goats :3

  • thank you mythbusters

  • get an x-ray out.

  • i don't care. i stick with my answer. 33 1/3% is good enough for me. so what if the car was behind the 1st door? after he showed me the goat doesn't mean the car is going to magically jump from door 1 to door 3.

  • I would choose #3, because since there's a greater chance that the door I chose in the first place (door#1) contains a goat as there are 2 goats and one car, now the door #2 is a goat, so there's a bigger chance that door # 3 is car.

  • uhhhhhhhhhh....... oh look, a sandwhich *nom nom nom*

  • I would keep the goat...

  • Why should I care, the riddle never said I get to keep it!!!!

Besides, driving is harder AND a lot less fun AND more usual than having a goat....

  • don't change the answer because goats are cooler than cars

  • ok i know i have 66% but WHAT IS THE ANSWER?

  • I already seen this on MythBusters so i abandon my first choice

  • swap

  • u swap cuz it doubles ur chance of getting a car: from-33% to 66%

  • wat if i wanted a goat?

  • mythbusters tested this

  • these music tracks are scarier than horror movies

  • Punch him And jack the car :D

  • they tested this on mythbusters!

  • you kill monty and open all doors put the goats in the car and drive home

  • What if I want the goat?

  • wait for the goat to make a noise

  • eni meni miney moe

  • I want a goat

  • OK PEOPLE LISTEN UP

Suppose the goat is in door 1, another is in door 2 and the car is in door 3

If you pick door 1, Monty opens door 2 and you switch to door 3 you get the car. If you don't switch, you get the goat.

If you pick door 2, Monty opens door 1 (because he knows which door the car is in) and you switch to door 3 and you get the car. If not, you get a goat.

If you pick door 3, Monty opens door 1 or 2, if you switch, you get the goat. If not, you get the car.

    Switch.

  • what if you want the goat

  • what i you want the goat

  • stick with door 1. obiously if hes holding you back one more time he wants you to pick the wrong door.

  • Monty never shows you what is behind any one of the doors. Not how the game works. Basically, take a shot. Either way, you are going home with a new car or a goat.

  • It's easier to understand with a diagram. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time taught me that.

  • punch the ma and open both doors befor anyone gets u run them over! DONE!

  • Basically, the statistical chances change after the first guess, because Monty is giving you additional information.

Every single time, he will open a door with a goat after your first guess. That is telling you something that you didn't know before.

There is a 2/3 chance that your first guess will be a goat. If that is the case, Monty will show you where the other goat is, meaning that the remaining door must be hiding the car.

66% of the time, you would be better off changing your guess.

  • @ROBwithaB yes, but in the same fashion, look at it this way.

    there is door A B C

You pick door A, a 1/3 chance. The announcer then reveals door C is faulty

Then, you can pick between A and B.

Picking A would be 1/2, and B would be 1/2 of a shot. A would not be 1/3rd anymore.

Please explain this way of logic.

  • @TheStamora

There is a 2/3 chance that door A hides a goat.

There is a 1/3 chance that it hides a car.

At this point Monty gives you a valuable piece of information, by showing you where the OTHER goat is.

So if door A hides a goat, and Monty shows you that the other goat is behind door C, the car must be behind door B, in which case you should change your mind.

If door A hides the car (1/3 chance), you'd lose out.

So, 2/3 of the time, you would be right by changing.

    I hope this makes sense.

  • @ROBwithaB Door A hiding the car's probability is 1/2 after he reveals B is a goat. So A and C would both be =. but i read by zsupersaiyan's explahnation

  • @ROBwithaB it doesnt matter now ur chances of getting the car are fifty-fifty either way. ur comment has no validity

  • @dlpaul345

Think about it a bit more. Or draw a diagram....

  • @ROBwithaB i dont have to b/c if there are only two doors then ur chances are 50/50

  • @dlpaul345 that would be right if you had to choose again but you would only have picked the car 1/3 of the time

  • Or just tell the guy to get the goat out then make a f*ckin loud noise, then the goat inside the wrong door would make a noise, then just choose the other door

  • @TheSonicMegaFan1 copied from top comment

  • -Sees answer- Right, you have 33% Chance using the original door, BUT WHAT IF YOU STILL LOSE WITH 67% OF WINNING? WOW THIS RIDDLE MAKES NO SENSE LOL

  • after seeing the answer

me:oh yeah why didnt i think of that???

me thinking: i dont get it

  • ok the easy way too look at this is that you have a higher chance of origionally picking the wrong door, say they had 150 doors, and once you picked one they opened all other 148 doors so just yours and one was left, the one you picked had a chance really high chance of being wrong, the reason its hard to get is because people look at it backwards, the idea is that the door you pick is most likely wrong, but the other door is most likely right.

  • Still seems like a math fail to me. Anyone care to explain the answer more carefully? I feel like this is more like just taking an option away and making it 50/50. Plus, I thought the answer would be door one because the only incentive for them to open door two for you is if the car is behind door 1 and they are trying to encourage you to change answers.

  • @DGol03 suppose they didn't give you the chance to switch. then if they open a wrong door first their is still a point with 2 doors, 1 right, one of which you chose. but the order they open the doors doesn't doesn't change the odds of your origional choice.

  • kick the shit out of Monty until he tells me which door is the right one

  • I still think its 50:50 but I would take the goat anyway, with all the gas and food prices rising its easy choice. (honestly can you f*ck a car? OK sorry I know I crossed the line)

  • what to do:

    1.goto a ammunation shop

    2. buy a bazooka

    3. blow the fuck out of the doors

  • Im to young to drive and dad has 9.3 akers and hates to cut the grass.

  • I'd chose door number 2 because then I could make it ram down the host and security then open up the other 2, take the other goat, and escape with the car so I end up with a lawnmower and another car so I think i win.

  • @ikaninjau2 I think you'd win too.

  • probablility states that past events have no effect on future events, i dont care how many people think Marylin is right i can tell you right now that after you find out that 2 is the goat you have a 50% chance of being right with door one and a 50% chance of being wrong.

  • @Linkfanoftheyear you are refering to the law of independent trials, but the first guess and option to switch aren't independent since the first choice effects what door is opened and thus what choices you have the second part. plus since the car has to be behind the same door both times that is another way the trials are not independent.

  • @aj19bcx lets put it this way, if you know youre going to get a second chance then the math still works out to 50/50 because the door you first pic isnt actually picked, it would be the same if i told you that one of three cards on the table is an ace, lets lable them a b and c, you pick a and i turn over b and say its not b. ok so what are tha chances of it being A? what are the chances of it being B? it actually doesnt matter that you staked out door a because you still only get to pick one.

  • @Linkfanoftheyear WAIT NO I GET IT!!!! Youre right. i see how it works

  • @Linkfanoftheyear the experimental data isn't effected by your lack of ability to understand the math.

  • @aj19bcx did you not get my other responses? i understand that youre right, in fact if you look through this video's comments youll see a comment by me explaining it properlly.

  • Thats not a riddle, ist complete luck

  • You do whatever the f*ck you want to do, bitches.

  • I said keep your choice cos i thought the goat might face the goat behind the other door.... lol

  • in Russia goat drives you.

  • Make A Goat Noise Until The Other Goat Replies. Done.

  • nvm i watched the explanation surprisingly i was wrong

  • the answer makes no sense you cant have a 2 in 3 chance of winning if there are 2 doors to choose from this the riddle answer is based off if they didn't reveal the goat which in the riddle they did so the answer is not based on the riddle making it inaccurate because they are asking for the probability after door 2 was already eliminated the goat's probability isn't added to the other one it is eliminated for it is no longer one of the mystery choices i am only 14 yet my answer makes more sense

  • I WANT A GOAT

  • Ask Carrol Merrill, Monty's model on the show.

  • well, what you want to do is in the beggining you throw rocks at the door using your boulder costume then you wait until you hear goat noises from 2

  • I like goats. :)

  • i know what to do, first beat the game hoast with the goat and open all the doors and drive the car away back home

  • I take door 2! I want a goat.

  • This is bollocks. As soon as two doors are remaining you have a fifty per cent chance either way. What a load of shite.

  • @BlackRoysWhiteWife actually choosing door #3 is a 2/3 chance of winning. simple explanation- its not random. you have 2/3 chance of choosing a goat and 1/3 chance of a car. if you stay on your original choice, you still keep 1/3 chance of winning. but if you switch, you now have 2/3 chance of winning.

  • @kamiakin5 ok where did you get your math there two choices and you get to pick one of them 1 in 2 or 50 percent

  • @tayoyoyo it is counter-intuitive. let us use this arrangement 1- m 2- g 3- g. if you choose door 1 then it doesnt matter which door he gets rid of. so you win if you stay lose if you move. if you choose door 2, he must get rid of door three, so you lose if you stay and win if you move. if you choose door three, he must get rid of door 2, so lose if you stay and win if you move. so moving is 2/3 chance of winning and that is why that game show went out of production.

  • @kamiakin5 yeah i figured that out

  • @kamiakin5 Well explained, I've never understood how people can possible say it changes the chance until now. Thanks.

  • Ask for the keys to the car then press the alarm button

  • For all the people who have a problem understanding this riddle.

Think about it this way lets say there are a 1000 doors you choose one than the show host opens 998 doors and revels them to be goats then what would you do stay with your choice or switch your choice?

  • kick monty in the balls and see behind what door is the car then steal it

  • Stay with your original choice. I learned this from the movie "21." Now that you know one choice you didn't pick is wrong, you have a 66% chance the door you originally picked is the right one.

  • What if you re in love with the goat in #2 and want him?

  • 66,67 chance to win a car if u switch

33,34 chance to win a car if u dont switch

  • @CelinecCion urm no cus u knw that door 2 has a goat so it then becomes 50 chance to win the other goat

  • @DjDeathfire %

but in te begin u have 66% chance to pick a goat and 33% to pick a car.

if u pick a goat in the first round , and the dealer shows u to other goat , then if u switch u always get the car.

So when u pick a goat in the first round ,and u switch in round 2 u always get the car.

and u have 66%chance to pick a goat in the first round.

  • This was pretty easy, but not retardedly obvious like many of the other riddles.

  • The people who dislike this video do not accept or understand the answer.

  • doesn't matter: either way you will have a means of transportation, cars are faster, but goats are cute and can provide companionship. it's a win/win!

  • @Vgamer311 I'd ask for door two cuz you don't need a license to ride a goat.

  • @Vgamer311 if u get the car , an u sel it , u can buy 100 goats

  • that logic is actually wrong. On your first choice you had a 1/3 chance of winning but now knowing that #2 has a goat, wether you change or not makes no diffrence because both doors have 1/2 chance of hidding a car or a goat, There is no more 3rd door!

  • @momothebear i saw a video, and the reason is that when you choose the first door you have a 1 in 3 chance of getting the car, but if you switch, you have a greater chance of getting the car, because of the statistics. let's say you choose the first door which is a car, and the host opens a door. if you switch you will win a goat. if you choose the second door and switch, you will win the car. if you choose the third door and switch, it will be a car. thus making it a 2/3 chance to win a car.

  • @jychristy yes but implying that you now know what's behind the second door and it's a goat it makes it less of a choice. So the actual question is now do you wanna choose door 1 or door 3 and no matter which one you chose first, it's still 1 car 1 goat so 1/2 chances. That logic can only be applied if the person opens door #2 no matter which one you chose and lets you chose another one.

  • Why are the two top comments about goats?

  • I always wanted a goat.I choose #2.Do I get to keep it?

  • Sorry i have a race car so i pick #2 so i can taste goat meat for the first time.

  • i'll bring out my hand dandy notebook....

  • y'd he open the door 2 #1 but showed u #2? he must be hiding sumthing behind the first 1....I CHOOSE THAT 1!!!

  • I'll take the goat. = D

  • i'll go with # 2, becuase i want that goat

  • stay because door number three is a goat

  • whoa i saw the same thing in the show "NUMBERS"

  • @Zarin123456789 oops I made a mistake the show was called "NUMB3RS" lol i forgot that the E was actually a 3

  • I read the answer and still don't get it

  • @o00ooo00000o Since the odds are you already picked a goat (2/3) If he reveals a goat, that means that when you swap, you'll land on a car 2/3 of the time.

  • ball bag

  • you always go with your original choice they only ask when your right so youll get it wrong no more money on a new car

  • U always go with the other choice, they wouldn't ask, if u were right.

  • you just see which way the goat is looking... normally it will be looking at the door with the other goat, so you choose the remaining door

  • ii whp out my AK-47 and shoot the guy, then i shoot each door and the one that dosent make a goat sound i pick

  • this is wrong.. i did this test with 3 cards. 2 aces and 1 king. if i got an ace i would switch. i did this like 200 times and it ended up being 50%

  • can someone please explain to me the logic of switching and why it increases your chances of wnning if there are only 2 doors left

  • this riddle appeared in the movie Black Jack. This is why i knew the answer

  • Actually you should stay with the door you chose because if you had gotten it wrong they wouldn't have given you the option of choosing. And your odds still went up either way just because they went up doesnt mean you need to change youre answer. its in the begginnning of the movie 21 actually

  • that wasnt a riddle it was a test to see if your an idiot or not

  • I'd choose 1-3 XD

  • keep it

  • The riddle is incomplete. The original problem is that Monty Hall always opens the door containing a goat, but in this video it is also possible that he chose randomly and only by chance did not reveal the car, in which case the chance is 50/50 and it doesn't matter whether you switch or not. Not to mention that he might want to trick you.

  • @Vimgur U are right :)

  • what if u want a goat....?

  • there aint nothin behind 3 cuz he sez the car is behind 1 and behind 2 there is a goat so in 3 there is nothin'

  • Isn't this that one that all of these maths professor guys couldn't solve?

  • @amyblondiie yep :D but the answer is to always switch because you have a higher chance to get the car!

    unless you want a goat.

  • Oh, I know this one! You switch, coz it gives you a higher chance of winning.. I'd done this for a presentation in college.. :)

  • what if its a toy car?

  • what?

  • so there was is greater chance that you picked the goat to begin with, so switching would increase your chance, but it's still possible that you chose the car first.

  • *checks answer*

    what?

  • The most interesting aspect of the Monty Hall problem is that the way that people vehemently continue to the argue that the chances are the same whether you switch or not.

  • If there are 2 doors left.. and u have to pick 1 its a 1/2 chance.. not a 2/3 chance.

  • @yannickdekker you already chose. when u did there was a 2/3 chance it was a different one. wen given the option you choose a different one

  • I chose number 3, but I wanted a blue car!! :(

  • you change, my maths teacher tried to explain it once but i still don't know why, aparently it works tho

  • this answer doesnt make sense youre quessing anyways you cant better your chances so FUCK YOU

  • the answer doesnt make sense

  • I didnt get this until someone gave me this example.

Say there were 1,000,000 doors and you had to pick one. after they opened 999,998 there would be 2 doors left. The one you picked and the one that he asks you if you want to switch. Obviously you would switch because your beginning odds were 1 in 1,000,000.

    Hopefully this helps somebody.

  • Switch, because if you picked a goat, the other door holds a car. Picking a goat originally has a 2/3 chance, so if you picked a goat, you have a 2/3 chance of winning a car if you switch. :D

  • Switch because you have a better chance of originally picking a goat than the car; a 1 / 3 chance. If you pick one of the two goats, the hostess will show you the other, which arouses a question... if he opens the door with the car, can I switch to it or what?

  • What if you chose the car in the first place?

  • Door three

  • The host will definitely be smart and put a new toy car.

  • Don't have a driving licence... But I have a garden and I like goat cheese.

  • your superman and can see through the doors

  • okay, so you have a 2/3 chance to pick a goat, and a 1/3 chance to pick a car. you most likely chose the goat. then he opens a door which is guaranteed to have goat in it, therefore you should always switch because it is way more likely you chose a goat in the first place, but it is still possible you chose a car too.

  • open both dors and go to the one that has the car

  • HE IS NOT THE HOST ANYMORE!!!!!

  • i will take the first goat so that if i get another goat i can breed them for infinite monies

  • @Osamatheone and if they are both male? a gay goat company? :S

  • Yell FUCK YOU.

  • Bang the available goat, wait for the ensuing laughter, then go find the car and drive off. Pretty simple.

  • AND I QUOTE: I WANT BOTH

  • here's the easiest way i can explain it:

Imagine you pick door 1. Then the host shows you that door 2 has a goat. When he gives you the opportunity to swap to door 3, you SHOULD SWAP because then effectively you've chosen both door 2 and door 3 since he's shown you door 2 is a goat. This gives you a 2/3 chance of winning, rather than 1/3 had you just stayed with your original door 1.

  • @demonFanEv

Even if you stay with door 1...its still a 2/3 chance of winning..

  • @00treasure00 no it isn't, its a 1/3 chance no matter what door they open. Think of it this way: the host opens door 2 or 3 to show you it has a goat...but what if you didn't look at which door it was? You know either 2 or 3 has a goat, but together they're still a 2/3 chance even tho you know only one of them could possible have the car. If you stay with door 1, you're staying with the 1/3 chance the whole game.

  • Ask how the fuck he intends to get a car out of those doors.

  • Looks like its time to take your 9mm out and teach Monty Hall some respect!

  • This is deep but simple once you understand it. It's safer to assume you picked a goat and not the car. You have a 2/3 chance of choosing a goat on the 1st try, so, when he shows you the other goat, switch and you'd have the car. There's only a 1/3 chance you pick the car on the 1st try so that's a more risky assumption. There's no guarantee here, but for the highest probability of getting the car, assume the door you choose 1st has a goat, because there are more goats than cars, then switch.

  • Comment removed

  • But listen to this, I might be wrong but: In the setup, there can be only three different combinations:

    1. goat goat CAR

    2. goat CAR goat

    3. CAR goat goat

Monty Hall wants to cheat you to win the goat, so whenever you pick door number 1 and there is a goat behind it (as in the two first combinations) he just opens the door and say "you've won a goat!". The only reason behind him opening another door is if the car is behind your pick, so when he offers you to change door, stick to your door.

  • Desperate times call for desperate hostages.

  • go up to the two doors see if I hear a goat sound

  • Easy, You pick the door you origanaly had If it's a goat higher a goat whisper to tell the goat to kill tho host and open the other door for a BRAND NEW CAR!!! Other wise u got urself a car babie

  • crash the doors, take the car

  • Think of it this way. There are 100 doors. You pick a door and have a 1% chance of picking the car. Then Monty opens 98 of the 99 remaining doors and shows you crap. The car is either behind your door, or the remaining door. Even though there are only two doors left, there is a 99% chance the car is behind the door you didn't pick. The 1% probability stays with your original choice. With 3 doors, the 33% chance stays with your original choice.

  • @MuyGordoGato this actually made it make sense, thank you

  • dont get it, why does switch doors help to increase the chance of getting the car, explaintions plz? ty

  • i'll make a goat sound, and wait 'till the other goat replies....done

  • you have more chance getting the car if you switch. Sounds weird but somehow mathematically true.

  • I've seen this on the movie '21'
