  • EPIC!!!

  • nice

  • incredible! thanks for uploading this video!

  • The wonderful sound was not provided by the steam condenser fans in the tender - it came from a steam driven turbo fan in the smokebox which was provided to draw the fire. Exhaust steam which normally does this job was diverted back to the condensing tender. This probably accounts for the huge pall of smoke which is jet black as it isn't mixing with exhaust steam.

  • @MrNormalan Thanks for the explanation, i never read the previous comment you refer to. They also say the fan in the smokebox was high maintenance due to the blades being chopped out from the cinders. I also heard they were a dirty engine to work on for enginemen, understandable seeing the exhaust is dry i suppose. Thanks.

  • Wow... amazing, I just love teh sound she makes. What a pity these are extinct.

  • Insane!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The weird thing about this type of loco is with the wind of the condensing fans in the tender it makes it sound almost like a jet engine rather than a steam locomotive

  • WOW! I never thought I'd see one, let alone actually hear one. What a totally un-steamlike sound. Thanks for posting!

  • Great stuff, thanks for sharing it with us. Got anymore footage of that wonderful beast?
