  • DAVID LYNCH was the best!

  • ...so these are examples of what it would be like if Michael Bay didn't direct the Super Bowl?

  • I would actually watch the superbowl if the telecast were directed by David Lynch

  • funny...^^ Lynch is so good...

  • If Jean-Luc Godard directed the Super Bowl, there would be no cuts. It would all be one long fucking shot :P

  • the david lynch one was the best

  • What, no Kiarostami? Peace.

  • david lynch <3

  • Want to see PJ and SS' version

    PJ=Peter Jackson

    SS=Steven Spielberg

  • @SuburbanStuff It would cost 10 million dollars and it would have motion capture, cgi and a lot of ego.

  • HAHA! The funniest superbowl Commercials sb . facebookality . com{

  • This video is missing Michael Bay! check it out here --- watch?v=uR3vNwhL__k

  • Green Bay's gonna annihilate the Steelers, just watch people, and if ya are gambling, take the Packers and the points! ;o) *woof*

  • great work

  • 0:20

    freakin Eyeshield 21!!!

  • @StickFro Um, Michael Bay is the only director of those 4 that puts a lot of explosions in his movies. Cameron and Nolan are not the same type. The former focuses on entertaining through action and story telling while the latter focuses on interesting plots and character development.

  • Alguém me ajude!

Estou usando o google translator neste momento!

  • You should have added Michael Bay, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, and Katherine Bigelow. 4 of the 5 would have just gone and blown up the stadium.

  • ahahahah HILARIOUS :D

  • I wanna see a Trey Parker Superbowl!

  • 0:01

  • Yeah! That's awesome! I didn't know you saved all that footage for this. But did you all ever get in trouble for collecting all this footage to make this video? I mean, do you need to get permission for those clips?

  • well they pretty much just did the music....

  • I'd watch Lynch's superbowl!

  • And if Michael Bay did it, there would be land mines on the field. And the uprights would explode after every kick. A touchdown would mean dropping 20 pounds of explosives on the field.

The football would detonate if dropped.

Just a bunch of bad :(

  • wes anderson and werner herzog were probably the best two.

  • The Jean-luc Godard segment was nothing like his films.......

  • I want to see the Stanley Kubrick and Brian de Palma versions!

  • warner herzog is fucking halarious. sounds just like the guy. who saw the boondocks episode with the election of barack obama.

  • 2:20 Werner Herzog is the best.

  • eyeshield 21 ftw !!

  • wow

  • Loved the eyeshield 21 bit.

  • haha great

  • lame

  • Looks like no one got the fucking "Breathless" reference. Therefore, all of you shit talkers automatically lose credit

  • Slate 5 knows NOTHING about these directors

  • I'll be the asshole who says this doesn't have anything to do with directing, but editing

  • Should have done one with michael bay. the balls would explode on impact and shit >:D

  • To EroBB,

I feel like you missed the point to the entire piece...

critically analyzing a parody from stock footage of

super bowl games is silly. Werner Herzog and

Quentin directed those movies and used

    iconic symbols from them... appreciate

    it for its hilarity.

  • I feel like they missed the point with Tarantino. That's a Kill Bill parody, not Tarantino.

If they wanted to do Tarantino it'd be funny if they showed two players talking on the sideline for ten minutes, then 20 seconds of the game in fast forward.

  • @ERoBB1 just the same with werner herzog. this is basically a parody of grizzly man, not of herzog

  • @ERoBB1 Hahaha so true! Or did something with blaxplotation elements.

  • @ERoBB1 Same with Werner Herzog. It was just a Grizzly Man parody. Meh.

  • @ethanB612 They captured the Herzog cinematography style of the "foggy' camera though

  • @ERoBB1 is a joke for god sake.

  • @ERoBB1 or two players opening a carboot.. ;)

  • Did anyone reply to you guys about the songs??

What is the song on the Quentin Tarantino segment and the Wes Anderson segment???

  • whats the song for the quentin tarinto part

  • @1MrLmfao

"Don't Let me be misunderstood" from Santa Esmeralda

  • wht song is playing for WesAnderson's part?

  • This Time Tomorrow by the Kinks.

  • The guy at the end of the herzog segment looks like Nicolas Cage.

  • Every Single F@$%ing Patriots clip they used was a bad one they obviously did that on purpose

  • The largest problem with Tarantino's is that's how they cut every single football promo, sans the anime interlude... but maybe with a CG giant robot (if you're watching FOX).

The Andersen was pretty good. The Godard was spot on; pretty hilarious.

  • Perfection belongs to the bears AHHAHAHAHA

  • Sport for pussies.

    Men play rugby.

  • I love Tarantino so much, but I felt his part was one of the worst. Lynch's part was pretty bad too, with the backwards dialogue that he always uses. The best was the Wes Anderson version, it was the only one where the music, the shots, and his signature prologue/titles came together perfectly. Herzog is a nut. I love him. Would love to see what Harmony Korine would've done with this.

  • @liquidsnake1979 You do realize the filmmakers you mentioned only influenced this design and were not responsible for this add personally right?

  • This is some of the most creative new video work I've seen in a while--since that hilarious animated short about Doc Ellis of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitching a no-hitter against the Padres while on LSD (a must-see). Props to Slate magazine's new video page for funding and distributing innovative stuff. This is a perfect example of why television sucks and is going to crash and burn while we all dance around the fire.

  • Tarantino's part sucked, but Wes Anderson's was really funny

  • lol they should've done M. Night shyamalan lol would have classic.

  • what a twist! lol XD

  • @stateofhibernation LMAO!! That Interception was so unpredictable.

  • lol'd hard at Werner Herzog

  • Was it my impression or were there scenes from the anime Eyeshield 21? (which is awesome, by the way)

  • What was the song for the Wes Anderson part?

  • this time tomorrow by the kinks

  • haha loved the last one!

  • lame!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lynch, haha!

  • yo FUCK QT!!!

  • Quentin tarantino is awesome

  • this was stupid.

  • I second that motion......

  • The Werner Herzog one made me laugh!

  • Is that Nick Cage at the end? XD

  • love the Wes Anderson one

  • can someone tell me what all director made what movie?

  • Wes Anderson was done well! kudos.

  • wats the song for anderson?

  • Niceness

  • DA BEARS...SUK!!!!!!

  • good stuff, whats the song in the tarantino bit?

  • hey i know that anime in the tarrentino part is eyeshield21

  • GO BEARS

  • do people know that Quentin Tarantino directed more films than Kill Bill

  • no. One of the most famous directors and most popular directors of this generation has tricked people into thinking that Kill Bill is the only movie that he has ever made.

His other movies are cult gems, that only really in the know, hip people have discovered. It's not like he's ever won or been nominated for any major awards which would have exposed them to the public.

  • .....Pulp Fiction is better

  • What?? what about Pulp Fiction which won an academy award for best original screen play and the prestigious Palme d'Or at Cannes.

  • And Inglorious Basterds which has Oscar noms and Golden Globe noms. And Reservoir Dogs, that any semi film buff would know.

Yeah I was being sarcastic... People who are QT fans like to pretend like they're the only people that see his cool movies, but really everyone has and they're not being unique and interesting.

Sarcasm gets lost in text sometimes.

  • omg i cant stop watching this XD so funny!! hope you make another one =D

  • the qt one was terrible rest were good

  • Terrific! How 'bout some more directors?

  • ...

  • you sold tarantino short

  • the Jean-Luc Godard one was spot one :D

  • awesome job on this, where did you get your footage?

  • Should have been a touchdown dance scene for Godard.

  • Lynch was so funny

  • The Wes Anderson one was the best

  • @dcat65 That's because Wes Anderson is THE MAN.

  • herzog version is best - but slate v has no idea what tarantino movies are really about

  • what has wes anderson directed?

  • The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

  • and Bottle Rocket

  • lol at the end fav part

  • i'd watch the Wes Anderson one

  • Well, I laughed really hard with Lynch version!

  • Godard's was the best. Worst was David Lynch's. Thank God Michael Bay wasnt satirized.

  • So... I really, REALLY want Tarantino to direct the next Super Bowl now...

  • Michael Bay = just explosions

  • holy shit godard was damn apropriate

  • LOL! THE BEARS!

  • the bearz

  • I know Quentin Tarantino, but the rest I don't know?

  • wheres michael bay with the explosions out of nowhere???

  • WTF i was waiting for michael bay!!!!

  • @m3gadinum8 /watch?v=uR3vNwhL__k

  • the quentin and wes are the best. being wes the most adequate.

  • Michael Bay, that would've been cool =P

yeah, i remember these directors, vaguely, i'm not that old, 17 now, but my dad has some of the movies, good times =D

  • LOL! QUENTIN FTW!!!

  • I lol'd at the Jean Luc Godard one becuase I'm studying it at college!

  • I have to say Wes Anderson looks the bvest

  • @InevitableCreativity no doubt about, its the 'more american one'

  • whats the anime in the tarrentino part and also this is bad ass

  • @kevonlution eyeshield21

  • no Michael bay?? xD

  • @CJAFTER5 I can just picture this right away...

Final pass and the run towards the goal and then the players following him start to explode...Then the referee explodes...Then the grass catches fire...Then the seats collapse...Then benches explode....and then the touchdown with a big boom leaving a crater in place of the "O"!!!!!!

  • anderson's was the best.

  • the wes anderson one was great.

The Tarintino one was....sad.....there was so much potiential, instead they just chose 1 movie to go off of.

  • Wes Anderson was the best one everyones else was horrible

  • what was the song with wes anderson

  • This fucking sucked. Peter Rallis is fucking it up

  • @WallyWadeMovies do u know the people they where talking about ...if u did i would make sense

  • Don't even go there. I'm even subscribed to DLFTV. (David Lynch foundation television) The Tarantino one is easy. But they managed to fuck that one up.

    It should have been great.

The lynch one, they should have done it in black and white like Eraser head.

And then throw a scene from stock footage of a slaughter house. This video grabbed ideas from Twin peaks and Kill bill. And did it poorly.

As i said before, it sucks.

  • sucks

  • Holy shit this was epic!

  • Wes Anderson was the best one, I think they got that one perfect.

  • whats the name of cartoon show in this clip

  • fake and gay

  • NO DUHH ITS FAKE ! It says "IF"

  • no duhh u are retard

  • like you?

  • @wolfblue2569 trolling much?

  • The Godard one was kinda good.

  • This was brilliant.

Anyone who says this sucks simply can't appreciate what's being done. Or, is not familiar with these directors.

  • It wasn't absolute; it was derisive.

  • have u ever crossed to ur mind the idea that maybe som ppl dont like it

  • Yes, and as stated above...that is why.

  • fucking stupid and boring as fuck.

  • Hahahahahaha, my favorite was Wes Anderson.

  • lol ya

  • i agree lol

  • this sucks

  • These were all pretty dull and unappealing.

  • Ok...these were all pretty lame...then again, I dont like football...so yeah...

  • Also it looks like you don't recognize the references so why are you even posting anything?

  • fake and gay!!!

  • Fucking retard

  • 1:18 - 1:51 Go Kinks!

  • I want Wes Sanderson to direct the next Superbowl! Who's with me?

  • LOL david lynch

  • Werner Herzog's thoughts on nature in general plus the Super Bowl imagery was kind of brilliant. The Anderson sequence was the most accurate (and revealing) one, though.

  • If Steven Spielberg directs, an alien nazi dinosaur eat all present at the stadium!

  • If michael bay directed the superbowl watch?v=uR3vNwhL__k

  • Wes is aWESome!!!

    fiquei arrepiado!!!

  • Go GIANTS!

  • inb4 nfl sues you

  • This was aweseom.

  • Which is the song in the Wes Anderson's?

  • It's This Time Tomorrow by The Kinks

  • thank you sir!

  • stupid!

  • the grizzly man Herzog quote is AWESOME

  • this ruins football

  • Big giveaway going on in my channel an iPod touch and more

  • This is amazing...

  • needs more shirtless guys

  • Tarantino-one was made apparently by someone who has only saw Kill Bill :P David Lynch one is awesome! :D

  • Jeez not to sound like an a-hole, that IS Werner Herzog's voice at the end. And if you don't know who that is, do some research

  • @TerryGini Yeah, it's Herzog, and I think it's taken directly from his film "Grizzly Man.&q
