Davey has had to change his vocal style to suit the themes he's expressing in Crash Love. Also, due to his vocal surgery he can't sing in the exact same way he used to.

Okay considering your profile name is devoted to one of their newest songs...that makes you a hypocrite. And also, name me two AFI albums, other than the first two, that sound similar. There arent two, theyve been changing since they began. If they were to remain the same only because there fans werent open minded enought to embrace the change with them then that would be selling out. Oh, shut the hell up. Really, they're not sell outs. They chose to have a different sound and you can't stop a band from changing and expanding their music. It's idiotic to completely think they'd keep the same sound for more than a decade.
As well, dude - it's a fashion choice and Davey's been straight edge for along time. And why can't a person be straight edge? Just because they don't believe in drug use doesn't make them any less of a good band.

i agree its much..different...than the other ones. even when people said they were straying from punk with Sing the Sorrow (which they should fucking eat shit for because STS was heavenly good)
BUt it's still good in its on way. It did feel like it was missing something though. Like it told a story but something didn't "end" it
if anything. NO one can say Love Like Winter , Summer Shudder, and the interview weren't ILL with lyrics and guitar

they cant understand anything that isnt completely "in front of there eyes" if you don't get what I mean by that then you are most likely one of those people... I have VERY high expectations for "Crash Love" and NO YOU MORONS its NOT going to sound like STS and if it did it would take away SO much from STS. and I LOVE STS, trying to mimic it would be horrid. Crash Love I am expecting more of a harder rock sound. And also very little screaming which IS GOOD Dave's voice NEEDS a break. >.>

I think You'll find that AFI themselves have described their earlier stuff as punk.
It was pretty much the link between punk and hardcore music and ever since they've been progressing but have always said they want to stay true to their punk roots.
