You are correct, most metal musicians who use Satan imagery just do it for the emotional/mythic aspect, just like how Born of Osiris doesn't worship Osiris and Tiamat isn't neo-Babylonian pagans :P However, there are a quite a few people out there who are really involved in Thelema or the church of Satan; you have to remember that even most Satanists will tell you that the devil isn't real.

Very accessible Funeral Doom, in fact Ahab were the band that got me into more extreme sub-genres of Doom. Both of their albums are extremely good, highly recommended. Even if you're not familiar with this music it's worth taking a shot, just get the album somehow and lay in bed listening to it.

too bad one cannot exactly understand the vocals in the very beginning- i agree with that "watery sound" perception. it is amazing. pitch black and beyond. still, yet forceful. a surreal experience. it gets quite brutal at around 03:48- like a storm tormenting the sea. inspiring.
