much evidence suggests individual lions and tigers are similar predators and can take down similar prey when alone, but pride living enables lions to be alot more ambitious.
@nick20954 you are joking. both lions and tigers kill leopards on sight (lion prides would also have terrorized tigers). leopard can usually take to a tree to escape though - great climbers. leopards are awesome though - probably pound for pound the strongest cat, and most intelligent/adaptable hunter. also the commonest by far, and the least likely to become extinct.
there was a lion named sultan who killed all the tigers in his way.my point is that a dark maned lion can take on 3 to 4 tigers a time the african lion is a fearless warrior the lion has an appearance to frighten the mightiest of animals tigers are beautiful animals.

BS. size advantage of tigers is highly exaggerated and no indication of outcome of a fight. protection of mane and greater aggression/evolved wild dominance of lions over tigers is more relevant. both usually weigh under 450lb, lions are more consistent in size though, there being quite small tigers. and feel free to check out biggest recorded wild lions!

There's very few hogs in Africa, mostly in northern parts where Lions are too few so I can't really tell you much. As far as gaur, Tigers only hunt those that are either infants, adolescents, infirm, or old. Never seen Tigers hunt healthy ones
@Naturalhit Africa is clearly more dangerous, but not because of the lions. The multitude of animals that can fuck you up there is ridiculous, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs, cheetahs, rhinos, crocodiles, elephants not to mention the most vicious and violent animal on the planet, the hippo.
@TheFierForjat Yes, as a matter of fact villagers never travel alone in Africa. They always go in groups and they take pots and pans aand pails and bang on them in order to make noise and not be ambush.
@Naturalhit No! Knocking those kitchenware could cause you death, because some lions assciate such noise as if dinner is coming, and starting attack. It didn't seem that you really know. I've watched that exact video. People are warned of this. And wearing masks would not help either.
@Naturalhit yeah, load up with guns cause theres these things called africans that live there. Good luck with those. I herd they eat people. for realsies.
@Naturalhit wrong do some research there are many leopards in india, sri lanka, iran, china which are different subspecies than the snow leopard. amur leopard, chinese, arabian etc.
@Zamlak Yeah, but they are extremely rare though and even Leopards attacking humans in Africa is extremely low incident.
How about Lions, Wild Dogs, Hyenas, Buffalos, Crocs, Cobras, Elephants, Rhinos, and Hippos. Not to mention the stomaxin flys that can suck your blood and infect plus those deadly spiders, and man eating ants.
@Naturalhit Lions live on geographically flat land so it's obvious that's the case.
Never knew you could measure "viciousness", but anyway Tigers are larger and stronger than lions if you look at each cat separately. The reality is that it doesn't matter because they're totally different and there's so many factors which could decide which animal is more dangerous.
@Has1b Only Siberians Tigers are larger, Bengals are slightly if not about the same weight as a Lion. Tigers are only stronger on the hindlegs, which they can jump and run faster than a Lion. Lions are stronger on the forelimbs, which explains their extraordinary muscle mass due to fierce fighting with nomads. They are also 3-4" longer than a Tiger's forelinds. Also Lion's ribcage and skull is larger than a Bengal, but about the same with the Siberian.
@Naturalhit have you heard of lion tamer clyde beatty. he had over 40 lions and tigers. he had probably more experience than anyone of conflicts between lion and tigers. in his opinion lions were generally quite dominant over his tigers, and that tigers showed fear of them. although the occasional tiger won a fight if it had big advantage in size or age, he had one particular male lion that skillfully put down every male tiger he owned.
Lions are not the fiercest of them all, Tigers are.
Tigers excel in agility speed and jaw preassure, they are also bigger than the lion.
So in a fight the Tiger would come victorious.
Fun fact: Lions live in Africa and Tigers in Asia. Lionesses (female lions) hunt for the lions who rest all day long. Lions can hold for up to 3 months without eating a single meal. Also Lions live in the Savannahs and not jungles. It's a misconceptions to say lions are "the king of the jungle".
african lion the most savage hunters on the planet watever u guys say oh tiger can kill a gaur which is the biggest cattle true but a 300 lb female lion can kill a male buffalo 1500lbs by herself
for a start lions dont even live in the jungle, so i dont know why they are called kings of the jungle.........also one comment said that lions have to live in much more vicious environments.......in siberia, tigers have to deal with -60 celsius some times and extreme cold is worse than extreme heat
@mcool135 you do know that tigers are the biggest cat not the lion, and that they are stronger and faster than lions due to stronger back legs and size and also hunt and fight more and take on animals that whole groups of lions stay away from, its true that lions are more vicious but thats due to protecting a pride while tigers live only for themselves, and lions live on the plains not the jungle, even the smaller breeds of tiger are larger than lions, the mane just gives an illusion of size
@mcool135 lions arnt kings its just a title given to them because their manes look like crowns and they rule over a pride of other lions, tigers live on their own so they dont rule over anything, queen ants rule other ants but they arent better than cats that live alone cause cats are bigger, stronger and better than a queen ant and tigers are better in most catergories than lions but seem less noble cause they dont live in family groups, lions are lionised by their image (pun intended)
@mcool135 actually they only rivel samatran tigers, most tiger species would still beat a tsavo lion, and they dont even have manes to protect them like the smaller lions
@xXxMiiCkEyxXx Hippos are slow and sluggish Lions are quick with shark teeth it could pounce so fast on the hippo and rip it to shreds also a hippo doesn't even have sharp teeth...
@mcool135 yea they are slow i give you that but on land.. and hippos have tough hide they could scratch as long as it can but im not sure about the bites.. and plus they don't need sharp teeth, just look at how huge their mouth open and looking at those tusk (teeth).. you don't think that the lion would be like "holy shit"..?? O_O
@faisy8 Male Lions are stronger, esp. in the forelimbs and they have a much higher testosterone level than any big cats, which explain their extreme agrressiveness. Tigers are only faster because of their long body.
@faisy8 Funny, most vidoes I've seen I see the Tiger losing and running away from the Lion. Most of the videos I see of Tigers winning are those edited ones from a Lion winning the real fight. Those show those 10 sec. clips over and over again for like 2 mins. Tigerfans were only showing the edited part where Tigers got a shot or two in.
@f2knight What so easy living in a pride? You still have to share your meal with the males and other female pride. Tigers get to have their meal all to themselves and they don't have to worry about Hyenas trying to snatch it away from them.... learn first before you speak dumbass.
@mrsrocio72 it is easier living in a pride...big deal it has 2 share its food with its family, whats so harsh about that..since its so easy for them to take down large prey coz they hunt in groups....i mean it takes 10 lions to take down one cape buffalo.... n 1 tiger can take down a water buffalo, which is larger than a cape buffalo........oh n tigers live in a harsher environment ...in serbia, fuckin - 40 Celsius ...n they have to deal with bears...not freakin hyenas
@mrsrocio72 i dont necessarily agree. the tiger found in africa have a MUCH more abundant source(s) of food they are many more living species to hunt and eat.. as opposed to the bengal tiger living in india... bengal tigers are resorting to killing and eating CROCODILES and humans because their habitat is being destroyed
@salomone23 "Tiger found in africa have a MUCH more abundant source(s) of food they are many more living species to hunt..."
I got news for you. THERE ARE NO TIGERS IN AFRICA!!!!
Tigers in India are dying because of population boom in India that's pushing the Tigers out of their territory. Watch Nat. Geo ad Discovery and you'll see that Big Cats don't like to eat Crocs. Because carnivore meat doesn't give off the same energy value as herbivores.
@mrsrocio72 tigers are far more viscous than lions because they are solitary and see everything else as a threat/enemy therefore making them kill anything that moves
@TheLenny655 That's right they are solitary so they hardly encounter each other other than to mate. Lions in Africa has to face the harsh weather heat which Nat. Geo showed tends to drain them of energy, fierce competition from other predators like the Hyenas, Leopards, Cheetah, Wild Dogs, and such. Male Lions have to probe their territory and defend it and their Lionesses and cubs from maurandering male Lions.
What do Tigers do ??? Hunt prey that's doesn't compare to what the Lions hunt.
@mrsrocio72 Ha you talk about harsh weather, what about Siberian tigers who live in the middle of no where, where temperature drop below freezing and there is hardly any food. Therefore making the Siberian tiger hunt prey that a normal tiger wouldn't such as the brown bears in Russia. I would really like to see a lion face off with a a Siberian tiger when it is in full anger mode. ........ after killing the lion it would probably eat him as well .
@TheLenny655 Sib. Tigers have what's called brown fat and thick fur. That is why they gain weight in harsh winter cold. Lions don't drop their mane when it gets hot and their fur doesn't get thin. Siberian Tigers rarely face a bear. Each one has over 100k sq. miles to roam so they have NO COMPETITION. Lions are always competing.
Korea has a favorite Sib. Tiger name Hobi which they always put up videos in their Everland. In 2008 Hobi was killed by a Lion Cheongi who tried to steal his food.
@mrsrocio72 Lionesses have thin fur for them to have substantial speed and good wind resistant when hunting prey while lions have a mane for the purpose of intimidating other lions and attracting lionesses by how thick it is. It is the lionesses that hunt in the hot Kalahari while the lions rest in the shade waiting for food and to be challenged. While tigers are built for all purpose activities such as hunting and fighting whether it being male or female making them tougher and even deadlier.
@TheLenny655 Tigers hardly fight trust me. An injury to them spells starvation. And NO tigers are not built for fighting like Lions. They are built for hunting which explains their elongated body and strong hindlegs for speed and sprints. Lions' does attract Lioness, the darker and the thicker it is the more it appeals to them, but manes also served as a shield to protect their neck. If you listen to Salmoni he said it all why he thinks Lions are the likely winner. Salmoni worked with both cats
@mrsrocio72 the main argument is not that who would win, although the odds are 50:50, but which is more viscous? You claim that an injury would mean the end of a tiger, fair enough, but if a lion gets injured the lion has the back up of the pride meaning that may be well fed until it regain its strength. I do not see how lions can be more viscous than tigers when they are so sentimental with each other based on their blood ties while tigers dont really give a shit about each other.
@TheLenny655 Lioness do not have thin fur. Its like me saying that Cheetah's have thin fur in order for them to go faster. We both know that's not at all true. No, Hobi was Korean's favorite Siberian Tiger. They are always posting videos of Hobi all the time. A lot of these videos are base on Hobi pounsing on a Lion. Well Koreans forgot how vicious Lions are
Hobi was 7 yo and Cheongi was 5 yo. Hobi tried to steal the live chicken and Cheongi didn't take it and went straight for the kill
@Naturalhit A lioness has way less fur than a cheetah because the cheetah depends on its flexible spine to reach its top speed. While the lion is muscular and the only way for it to move quickly was to lighten its capacity of fur. Trust me animals do not retain their physical structure forever as if you bring a lion to siberia its fur will thicken for warmth just the same as the Siberian tigers. But thing is a lion will always be a lion and tigers vice versa and tigers still would be mire viscio
@TheLenny655 Well you said, "Lionesses have thin fur for them to have substantial speed and good wind resistant when hunting prey." You should know that Lioness fur is just as thick as a Bengal's. And we both know that fur thickness has nothing to do with speed because the cheetah's fur is also thick. Well Lions here in the US their mane gets thicker which is similar to a Babary, but fat wise Lions don't develop them like Tigers do. Watch Living with Tigers by Dave Salmoni, he explain it well.
@mrsrocio72 It's encoded in their genes lions are more sociable and loving animals than tigers. The environment has nothing to do with their ability to kill. Coming from many animal trainers lions are far easier to work with than tigers as tigers tend to kill more without hesitation no matter how much they're tamed. No wonder Japanese people called this cat the demon of the forest.
@TheLenny655 I agree with you. Dan Hoover and Clyde Beatty both big cats trainer and tamer did say that Lions were easier to work than Tigers. According to them Tigers are nervous and fearful to be with humans and other big cats like Lions and Leopards, while Lions most of the time are calm and steady.
@mrsrocio72 But Clyde Beatty said that he thinks lions would win. Is what you said true? the part about how he said that lions were easier to work with?
@TheLenny655 Actually, you're right. Tigers do develop winter coats around Sept. to March and then it goes back to normal when the weather gets hot. I re-watched Living with Tigers again.
@mrsrocio72 Most of those animals they easily outmass, not to mention they band together for protection. Tigers are solitary, and they mark out expansive territory and kill everything else, like packs of wolves, that they find in it. The biggest Siberian tigers have 150 pounds on the biggest lions.
@Waywardpaladin Sib. Tigers are heavier because f their fat storage and also they have a longer body. Dave Salmoni is on Utube just listen to what he said about Lions vs. Tigers. He works on both animals extensively. Also in Africa Lions are always out numbered by their competitors. Tigers don't have any competitors except men who are ruining their habitat.
@mrsrocio72 Look up the news report from the BBC "Tiger kills Lion in Turkish Zoo." Bengal tiger, one strike of its paw, dead lion. Instances of fights in captivity show the lion's mane does help against the tiger's favored tactic of biting the spine.
@Waywardpaladin I looked it up and this is what it said, "ANKARA, Turkey -- A Turkish zoo says a tiger severed a lion's jugular vein when it stuck its paw through a narrow gap in a door dividing their cages. It said the tiger had squeezed it's front leg through the door, and in a single stroke left the young juvenile lion dying in a pool of blood."
Juvenile Lions don't have manes yet and their testasterone hasn't kicked in. That's usually happens at age 5 when they get extremely agressive.
@Waywardpaladin Here's Dave Salmoni on Tiger vs. Lion v=A64glNYb-NM
And this was what Clyde Beatty said: "The tiger does not seem to have the lion's capacity for calm analysis and appraisal. This puts him at a disadvantage in a fight with a lion."
Beatty used to own over 100 Lions and Tigers along with Jags, Cheetah, Cougars, such and he trains them for movies and stunts.
@mrsrocio72 And if you look at the wikianswers article on the subject, you'll find a trainer saying the opposite and giving anecdotes of their own personal experience. Also, it turns out the animal planet special on this was admitted to favor the lion out of personal preference, National Geographic gives it to the tiger. Lion average: 945 pounds per square inch (425 kg of force).
Tiger average: 1000 pounds per square inch (450 kg of force). and the tiger has a wider jaw.
@Waywardpaladin If you watch Nat Geo "Into the Night" and "Intimite Enemies" they've talked about Lions bite force exceeding 1000psi. They also mentioned that Lions hardly use the full capacity of their bite on their prey. But Sib. Tigers do have a much greater bite force
Bite force is only half the story. You have to look at Canine Force too: Lions Canine Bite Force is 1768psi Tigers Canine Bite Force is 1525psi
Lions canine are straighter that's why it's so high and their jaw opens wider
@mrsrocio72 v=XvcE_5uNShM for the National Geographic special on it, where they give the 50 kilo advantage to the tiger. It is from a preserve where lions and tigers were sharing territory.
@Waywardpaladin I watched it and basically Nat Geo is stating that a 50kg might kill a lone Lion. Evidence has shown that it hasn't happen and BTW these are Gir Lions. Very far from African Lions. These Lions are for the most part deform and genetically inferior due to their excessive in-breeding. There's currently fewer than 150 in the Gir forest. Can a Bengal kill an Asian Lion, I don't doubt it, but it hasn't happened and the Tigers are in territory because men have pushed them there.
Sure Tigers are furious but if you ever tamed one and had it as a pet you'll feel graceful you got that tiger but you have to tame your tiger more often or else it attacks.
sooo apparently picture's proves that a tiger is more vicious .... see what i mean tiger fans are delusional ...i love both cats ..just to me a lion is more glorious that and its the FUCKING KING OF ALL BEAST
@YukiKyoHaruLover tiger's fight each other over various things as well. Besides the tiger is stronger and bigger, experience will only do so much and even then the lion doesn't have experience fighting a tiger lol. So.. in the end size and strength are the deciding factors and as such the tiger is more likely to win
@crzyflasher Tigers are solitary animals and rarely fight each other as they rarely bump into each other, while lions are constantly challanging each other over prides and territory.
And about size and strength being deciding factors, would you say if a man, 6"4, over 200lbs of muscle took on a man 5'11, 180lbs who was a martial arts master as well as knowing various aother fighting styles would be victorious?
There's a reason tigers have stripes, to create an illusion to the viewer. So that they may stay hidden when hunting, or in this case to appear more threatening when he puffs up and shows his teeth. "Bluffing" is a technique in the animal kingdom, all cats show their teeth and such when they roar. Just because 1 species "looks" fiercer than the other does not mean they have any more/less attitude than their cousins.
lion are too lazy to work out, when you watch NG,did you realize that majority prey catch from female?because they live in a group compare to tiger ... sorry for the English
Lions are commonly associated with courage and nobility whilst Tigers are commonly associated with Stealth and Power... Lions are more aggressive but the Tiger is substantially Larger/Stronger.
From a human perspective lion is more brave and courageous than tiger.Tigers have been known to scared of from a predatory human attack just by the bark of a dog. That said tigers behavoior is slightly unpredictable it sometimes get scared and sometimes not.Tigers have been always the symbol of ferocity and cunning whereas Lion is seen as a symbol of courage and agression.
Lions are more agressive, all though they dont like to fight mutch.. they show a diffrtn agressivness. but overall.. Felines are Vicious and that is somethng all you wankers, that are fighting about tiger vs lion.. you all should damn KNow that!

@Naturalhit wrong do some research there are many leopards in india, sri lanka, iran, china which are different subspecies than the snow leopard. amur leopard, chinese, arabian etc.
Zamlak 1 week ago
@Naturalhit they are spotted resembling the african leopard altho slightly smaller for the most part.
Zamlak 1 week ago
@Zamlak Yeah, but they are extremely rare though and even Leopards attacking humans in Africa is extremely low incident.
How about Lions, Wild Dogs, Hyenas, Buffalos, Crocs, Cobras, Elephants, Rhinos, and Hippos. Not to mention the stomaxin flys that can suck your blood and infect plus those deadly spiders, and man eating ants.
Naturalhit 1 week ago
@Naturalhit Lions live on geographically flat land so it's obvious that's the case.
Never knew you could measure "viciousness", but anyway Tigers are larger and stronger than lions if you look at each cat separately. The reality is that it doesn't matter because they're totally different and there's so many factors which could decide which animal is more dangerous.
Has1b 1 day ago
@Has1b Only Siberians Tigers are larger, Bengals are slightly if not about the same weight as a Lion. Tigers are only stronger on the hindlegs, which they can jump and run faster than a Lion. Lions are stronger on the forelimbs, which explains their extraordinary muscle mass due to fierce fighting with nomads. They are also 3-4" longer than a Tiger's forelinds. Also Lion's ribcage and skull is larger than a Bengal, but about the same with the Siberian.
Agree, it's like apple and orange.
Naturalhit 1 day ago

It's a misconceptions to say lions are "the king of the jungle".
thybuilder 2 months ago
@thybuilder it is not the misconception, the lion would beat the damn ass of the tiger, easily. You don´t know a shit.
SuperGuerreroXY 2 months ago
@SuperGuerreroXY Yeah the Lion with only 691 PSI would beat a Tiger with 1050 PSI. Inform yourself.
thybuilder 2 months ago
@thybuilder Lions don't even live in the jungle anymore. So the lion has been given too much credit.
And by the way, there are countless accounts of lion vs. tiger and in most of them, the tiger won.
Check out the "Animal Face-Off Game" on Discovery Channel's website, look at how clear the bias for the lion is.

Lions are more vicious then tigers. The reason why is because Lions are way bigger and faster that's why there the kings of the jungle.
mcool135 4 months ago
@mcool135 you do know that tigers are the biggest cat not the lion, and that they are stronger and faster than lions due to stronger back legs and size and also hunt and fight more and take on animals that whole groups of lions stay away from, its true that lions are more vicious but thats due to protecting a pride while tigers live only for themselves, and lions live on the plains not the jungle, even the smaller breeds of tiger are larger than lions, the mane just gives an illusion of size
40019974 4 months ago
@40019974 Then how come the tigers aren't the kings ?
mcool135 4 months ago
@mcool135 lions arnt kings its just a title given to them because their manes look like crowns and they rule over a pride of other lions, tigers live on their own so they dont rule over anything, queen ants rule other ants but they arent better than cats that live alone cause cats are bigger, stronger and better than a queen ant and tigers are better in most catergories than lions but seem less noble cause they dont live in family groups, lions are lionised by their image (pun intended)

@faisy8 Male Lions are stronger, esp. in the forelimbs and they have a much higher testosterone level than any big cats, which explain their extreme agrressiveness. Tigers are only faster because of their long body.

mrsrocio72 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 it is easier living in a pride...big deal it has 2 share its food with its family, whats so harsh about that..since its so easy for them to take down large prey coz they hunt in groups....i mean it takes 10 lions to take down one cape buffalo.... n 1 tiger can take down a water buffalo, which is larger than a cape buffalo........oh n tigers live in a harsher environment ...in serbia, fuckin - 40 Celsius ...n they have to deal with bears...not freakin hyenas

Because carnivore meat doesn't give off the same energy value as herbivores.
mrsrocio72 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 tigers are far more viscous than lions because they are solitary and see everything else as a threat/enemy therefore making them kill anything that moves
TheLenny655 3 months ago
@TheLenny655 That's right they are solitary so they hardly encounter each other other than to mate. Lions in Africa has to face the harsh weather heat which Nat. Geo showed tends to drain them of energy, fierce competition from other predators like the Hyenas, Leopards, Cheetah, Wild Dogs, and such. Male Lions have to probe their territory and defend it and their Lionesses and cubs from maurandering male Lions.
What do Tigers do ??? Hunt prey that's doesn't compare to what the Lions hunt.
mrsrocio72 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 Ha you talk about harsh weather, what about Siberian tigers who live in the middle of no where, where temperature drop below freezing and there is hardly any food. Therefore making the Siberian tiger hunt prey that a normal tiger wouldn't such as the brown bears in Russia. I would really like to see a lion face off with a a Siberian tiger when it is in full anger mode. ........ after killing the lion it would probably eat him as well .
TheLenny655 3 months ago
@TheLenny655 Sib. Tigers have what's called brown fat and thick fur. That is why they gain weight in harsh winter cold. Lions don't drop their mane when it gets hot and their fur doesn't get thin. Siberian Tigers rarely face a bear. Each one has over 100k sq. miles to roam so they have NO COMPETITION. Lions are always competing.
Korea has a favorite Sib. Tiger name Hobi which they always put up videos in their Everland. In 2008 Hobi was killed by a Lion Cheongi who tried to steal his food.
mrsrocio72 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 Lionesses have thin fur for them to have substantial speed and good wind resistant when hunting prey while lions have a mane for the purpose of intimidating other lions and attracting lionesses by how thick it is. It is the lionesses that hunt in the hot Kalahari while the lions rest in the shade waiting for food and to be challenged. While tigers are built for all purpose activities such as hunting and fighting whether it being male or female making them tougher and even deadlier.
TheLenny655 3 months ago
@TheLenny655 Tigers hardly fight trust me. An injury to them spells starvation. And NO tigers are not built for fighting like Lions. They are built for hunting which explains their elongated body and strong hindlegs for speed and sprints. Lions' does attract Lioness, the darker and the thicker it is the more it appeals to them, but manes also served as a shield to protect their neck. If you listen to Salmoni he said it all why he thinks Lions are the likely winner. Salmoni worked with both cats
mrsrocio72 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 the main argument is not that who would win, although the odds are 50:50, but which is more viscous? You claim that an injury would mean the end of a tiger, fair enough, but if a lion gets injured the lion has the back up of the pride meaning that may be well fed until it regain its strength. I do not see how lions can be more viscous than tigers when they are so sentimental with each other based on their blood ties while tigers dont really give a shit about each other.
TheLenny655 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 Trust me tigers are the true monsters of the big cats
TheLenny655 3 months ago
@TheLenny655 Lioness do not have thin fur. Its like me saying that Cheetah's have thin fur in order for them to go faster. We both know that's not at all true. No, Hobi was Korean's favorite Siberian Tiger. They are always posting videos of Hobi all the time. A lot of these videos are base on Hobi pounsing on a Lion. Well Koreans forgot how vicious Lions are
Hobi was 7 yo and Cheongi was 5 yo. Hobi tried to steal the live chicken and Cheongi didn't take it and went straight for the kill
Naturalhit 3 months ago
@Naturalhit A lioness has way less fur than a cheetah because the cheetah depends on its flexible spine to reach its top speed. While the lion is muscular and the only way for it to move quickly was to lighten its capacity of fur. Trust me animals do not retain their physical structure forever as if you bring a lion to siberia its fur will thicken for warmth just the same as the Siberian tigers. But thing is a lion will always be a lion and tigers vice versa and tigers still would be mire viscio
TheLenny655 3 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@TheLenny655 Well you said, "Lionesses have thin fur for them to have substantial speed and good wind resistant when hunting prey." You should know that Lioness fur is just as thick as a Bengal's.
Naturalhit 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 Lions..?? you mean Lioness they do all the hunting.. -__-
xXxMiiCkEyxXx 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 It's encoded in their genes lions are more sociable and loving animals than tigers. The environment has nothing to do with their ability to kill. Coming from many animal trainers lions are far easier to work with than tigers as tigers tend to kill more without hesitation no matter how much they're tamed. No wonder Japanese people called this cat the demon of the forest.
TheLenny655 3 months ago
@TheLenny655 I agree with you. Dan Hoover and Clyde Beatty both big cats trainer and tamer did say that Lions were easier to work than Tigers. According to them Tigers are nervous and fearful to be with humans and other big cats like Lions and Leopards, while Lions most of the time are calm and steady.
mrsrocio72 3 months ago
@mrsrocio72 But Clyde Beatty said that he thinks lions would win. Is what you said true? the part about how he said that lions were easier to work with?
davidspade200 2 months ago
@TheLenny655 Actually, you're right. Tigers do develop winter coats around Sept. to March and then it goes back to normal when the weather gets hot. I re-watched Living with Tigers again.

@mrsrocio72 Do you know what Siberia is like?
Waywardpaladin 2 months ago
@Waywardpaladin That's why they have thick coat and brown fat.
Do you know what Africa is like? Competition with Hyenas, Crocs, Leopards, Wild Dogs, Cheetahs, and most of all other Prides.
mrsrocio72 2 months ago
@mrsrocio72 Most of those animals they easily outmass, not to mention they band together for protection. Tigers are solitary, and they mark out expansive territory and kill everything else, like packs of wolves, that they find in it. The biggest Siberian tigers have 150 pounds on the biggest lions.
Waywardpaladin 2 months ago
@Waywardpaladin Sib. Tigers are heavier because f their fat storage and also they have a longer body. Dave Salmoni is on Utube just listen to what he said about Lions vs. Tigers. He works on both animals extensively. Also in Africa Lions are always out numbered by their competitors. Tigers don't have any competitors except men who are ruining their habitat.
mrsrocio72 2 months ago
@mrsrocio72 Look up the news report from the BBC "Tiger kills Lion in Turkish Zoo." Bengal tiger, one strike of its paw, dead lion. Instances of fights in captivity show the lion's mane does help against the tiger's favored tactic of biting the spine.
Waywardpaladin 2 months ago
@Waywardpaladin I looked it up and this is what it said, "ANKARA, Turkey -- A Turkish zoo says a tiger severed a lion's jugular vein when it stuck its paw through a narrow gap in a door dividing their cages. It said the tiger had squeezed it's front leg through the door, and in a single stroke left the young juvenile lion dying in a pool of blood."
Juvenile Lions don't have manes yet and their testasterone hasn't kicked in. That's usually happens at age 5 when they get extremely agressive.
mrsrocio72 2 months ago
@Waywardpaladin Here's Dave Salmoni on Tiger vs. Lion v=A64glNYb-NM
And this was what Clyde Beatty said: "The tiger does not seem to have the lion's capacity for calm analysis and appraisal. This puts him at a disadvantage in a fight with a lion."
Beatty used to own over 100 Lions and Tigers along with Jags, Cheetah, Cougars, such and he trains them for movies and stunts.
mrsrocio72 2 months ago
@mrsrocio72 And if you look at the wikianswers article on the subject, you'll find a trainer saying the opposite and giving anecdotes of their own personal experience. Also, it turns out the animal planet special on this was admitted to favor the lion out of personal preference, National Geographic gives it to the tiger. Lion average: 945 pounds per square inch (425 kg of force).
Tiger average: 1000 pounds per square inch (450 kg of force). and the tiger has a wider jaw.
Waywardpaladin 2 months ago
@Waywardpaladin If you watch Nat Geo "Into the Night" and "Intimite Enemies" they've talked about Lions bite force exceeding 1000psi. They also mentioned that Lions hardly use the full capacity of their bite on their prey. But Sib. Tigers do have a much greater bite force
Bite force is only half the story. You have to look at Canine Force too: Lions Canine Bite Force is 1768psi Tigers Canine Bite Force is 1525psi
Lions canine are straighter that's why it's so high and their jaw opens wider
mrsrocio72 2 months ago
@mrsrocio72 v=XvcE_5uNShM for the National Geographic special on it, where they give the 50 kilo advantage to the tiger. It is from a preserve where lions and tigers were sharing territory.
Waywardpaladin 2 months ago
@Waywardpaladin I watched it and basically Nat Geo is stating that a 50kg might kill a lone Lion. Evidence has shown that it hasn't happen and BTW these are Gir Lions. Very far from African Lions. These Lions are for the most part deform and genetically inferior due to their excessive in-breeding. There's currently fewer than 150 in the Gir forest. Can a Bengal kill an Asian Lion, I don't doubt it, but it hasn't happened and the Tigers are in territory because men have pushed them there.
mrsrocio72 2 months ago
Sure Tigers are furious but if you ever tamed one and had it as a pet you'll feel graceful you got that tiger but you have to tame your tiger more often or else it attacks.
