  • I love your videos. Could you start putting the names of the songs you use in the description. :)

  • I love moon manicure!

  • Thanks for the tip. I always wondered how I could achieve that look on my own.

  • I have used a similar technique for years to do French tips. I find its easier to use masking tape because it creates a tighter seal on the nail. I appreciate the video! I never thought to use this trend on my own nails until I saw yours :) Thanks.

  • if you use those little notebook paper hole stickers and cut them in half it's mega easy

  • I had no idea they did their nails like that. Thanx :)

  • this is awesome,,I am doing this as I watch,,,:-) Thanks for the awesome tip

  • Great idea! I've used french manicure stickers to achieve this, but sometimes they don't stick well enough and leave my moons in a mess! Something else that works is drawing the guide for the moon on with one of those nail design pens, then painting the rest of the nail with a polish that matches the pen.

@gimmeapaw I've done this look in black with grey moons and got a lot of compliments!

  • Love it! Never thought to do this. I'm going to try it with black nail polish. :)

  • @gimmeapaw Oh, that's a cool idea!

  • Okay --if you go to your local drug store and buy the French manicure kit --it comes with moon shaped "stickers" and you can use those --perfect for this nail - and they peel off super easy. You''ll love them!

  • @ginneybilbray Yeah, I know and I don't care :p I want to use something I don't have to go out and buy, cause I'm cheap, - but something I just have laying around. Thanks for the tip though ;)

  • nail glamour from the 1940's ! Informative video.

  • Magnifique! I would paint your tippie toes anyday. ^ ^

  • Neat trick!

  • You could also use a bandaid for french tip AND half moon nails that's what I use:)

  • @MarilynBow123 Yes, you can probably use whatever.. Whatever you have :)

  • love it!

  • excellente!!

  • The pedicure reference at the end made me realize I don't think I have ever paid attention to vintage toenail polish. Is it painted in the same manner as the fingers were, or a full color from top to bottom?

  • I want to try this but I can't wear nail polish at my job. :( Dang it!!!

  • great Idea!!!! thanks

  • I dont know if it had been posted yet, but you can also use those normal "french manicure" stickers. Just stick them at the end and not on the tip.

  • what song is it? its cool ^^

  • @sturerFussl Please look out for annotations in the video.. :) These two songs are by the Andrew Sisters - 'Beer Barrel Polka' and 'Joseph Jospeh'

  • @ClassicRetroGlamour

    ah thanks..sorry didn't see it^^

Yeah the andrew sisters...i knew that i've heard it already somewhere....it reminds me ver ymuch of the puppini sisters..they're also so cool :)

  • @sturerFussl Yes, that's true :) Swinging music

  • @ClassicRetroGlamour

ah yeah, and great hairstyles. tomorrow i have my prom and i'll wear a petticoat dress with 50's pin-up hairstyle :) Its very beautiful^^

  • Nails needed some love. Thanks for this!

  • @nigelhalfwittt Haha, nice :)

  • Gorgeous!! Love Dita, adore the nails. Classic!

  • My mother did her nails like that in the sisxties too!!! I am not sure she did them red, but the halfmoon on the nail was white.

Thank you for a great tip!

  • @fortelleirin Cool! :)

  • try using the paper hole reinforcers for the moons :)

    cheap and faster

    thats what i do

  • @nicfinnigin :) Great! I'm sure my technique is not the best, but I wanted to do something using tools that pretty much everyone's got available in their home.. Cause like me, I hate going out having to buy more stuff for something I'm doing. Use what you've got! :)

  • @ClassicRetroGlamour

oh thats so true, well if you have tape use tape right? :)

    use what you got.

btw this is one of my favorite andrews sisters songs.

    lovely tutorial :)

  • Such a clever idea!!! Thank you!

  • Oooooooo Crafty:) I like it:D

  • I always think about hair and makeup but never nails! That is so awesome. Thanks for sharing this. :)

  • @blueispretty1982 My pleasure! :)

  • love this tutorial! good job! your amazing <3

  • Love this! I have a knitting book from the late 30's/early 40's and the person pictured in the demonstration photos has nails like this and the have an almost pointy shape at the top. Very interesting!

  • @feliciajuly Yes! I know! :) In the 1930's the tip of the nail was cut in an arrow like shape. All I'm thinking is how unpractical this would be today... Fascinating though :)

  • @sincerelyallis Thanks for that tip!

  • Yu are amazing!!!! I think yu and i could be best friends haha

  • @mpapdp123 Probably! ;)

  • @ClassicRetroGlamour Yay! haha Yur a true pinup visionary :D

  • NIce! French tip guides also work very well for this technique. I always wondered why not cover the entire nail?? How was this trend started? I suppose I can easily look it up, oh well!

  • Wonderful tutorial! I love using half-moon stickers usually used for french manicures. Never thought of using scotch tape before!

  • What polish was that you were using... (brand and shade??)) You are so great! Love you! xo

  • @JustTakeMeDancing It's the nailpolish 'Red Nail' from H&M's cosmetic line.. Any red you have will do just fine :)

  • i shall do this for tomorrow for my thesis presentation haha loved it! Thnx :)

  • Awsome! ha ha and I love the song! what is it, never heard it before? Great job, I shall be doing this soon for sure. Thanks

  • @Chasems97 Thanks! :) It's the Andrew Sisters - 'Beer Barrek Polka' and 'Joseph Joseph'
