When I was just out of surgery a few years ago I got a visit from Ted. He didn't know me but knew my dad. He sat with me for about an hour lifting my sprits and making me laugh even though it hurt my stiches. He visited the next day and called every day after that until I was well. No press, no one else there, just Ted. He didn't have to do that. I will never forget his kindness

Legislation like support of our billion dollar plus annual payments to Israel at the expense of the American people. Ted Kennedy was nobody special. He was a civil servant at best, a cheating, filandering, murdering drunk at worst. He was a man who never held a real job in his life. He went right from school into politics. His entire life was financed by you and me. He engaged in what some would want us to believe was "ground breaking" legislation but was of course all constitutionally illegal, created moral hazard and cost us more than it could have ever possibly provided.

Teddy had his flaws, nobody denies that. He served his country for 46 years, passing bills that made the lives of women, the poor, blacks and all kinds of minorities better. He changed his country for the better and continued to do so till his dying day. And while he made his fair share of mistakes, it turns out most people have, what matters is how you atone for your sins, and he's done that magnificently.

I'm sure we can say the same for you.
