I know that a turbo civic can pull some pretty impressive hp but they tend to have a narrow torque band. thats where the V10 has the advantage. The winner boils down to $ and a lot of it . If $ is no issue the viper has the advantage. I agree though usdm still needs to step up. but they're getting better.
@CrackinVTEC666 Um, also keep in mind how much a Carrera GT cost. A viper is less than 100k. A Carrera GT is well over 300k. Not to mention, the Viper engine is a VERY simple one, thus much easier and cheaper to build than a Carrera's V10. I think for the money I'd sooner have a Viper's V10 if it was a choice between engines.
@CrackinVTEC666 LOL, I'm just saying, the Carrera is better BECAUSE it costs so much. It's a Porsche, and it's been built like one, and on the budget of one. The Viper was built and designed on a small budget, from a lot of existing parts (Dodge Dakota front hubs, Ram 8.0L V10 was the basis for the engine, etc), and wasn't made to be the best of the best. Porsche is, well, Porsche. They have a huge bank account and great designers and engineers.
@mj20042 doesn't matter about the starting product ( if anything, the MR set-up of the caerra would make it a fast car in my GT drivers hands... MR feels better then these vipers though you cant knock their GT race cars that much )

I've seen some pretty quick Hondas in the street class, but I don't know that I've ever seen a street legal 8 sec Honda. (remember that depending on what series you're racing and what state you're in, street class may not be street legal. A shame but it's true) but full weight and 8's in a Honda is not to bad. This civic is 603hp at 30psi. Here it was on 24psi, from about a 70 roll, yes the viper was racing. The comments about the civic are just rediculous and honestly very childish. Race cars around the world use power adders regardless of make model and engine size, so all you guys knockin the civic bc it was turbocharged I hope you make the same comments to your favorite mustang or camaro at the race track thats on nitrous or supercharged.

I know that a turbo civic can pull some pretty impressive hp but they tend to have a narrow torque band. thats where the V10 has the advantage. The winner boils down to $ and a lot of it . If $ is no issue the viper has the advantage. I agree though usdm still needs to step up. but they're getting better.

@CrackinVTEC666 Um, also keep in mind how much a Carrera GT cost. A viper is less than 100k. A Carrera GT is well over 300k. Not to mention, the Viper engine is a VERY simple one, thus much easier and cheaper to build than a Carrera's V10. I think for the money I'd sooner have a Viper's V10 if it was a choice between engines.

The Viper was built and designed on a small budget, from a lot of existing parts (Dodge Dakota front hubs, Ram 8.0L V10 was the basis for the engine, etc), and wasn't made to be the best of the best. Porsche is, well, Porsche. They have a huge bank account and great designers and engineers.

I've seen some pretty quick Hondas in the street class, but I don't know that I've ever seen a street legal 8 sec Honda. (remember that depending on what series you're racing and what state you're in, street class may not be street legal. A shame but it's true) but full weight and 8's in a Honda is not to bad. This civic is 603hp at 30psi. Here it was on 24psi, from about a 70 roll, yes the viper was racing. The comments about the civic are just rediculous and honestly very childish. Race cars around the world use power adders regardless of make model and engine size, so all you guys knockin the civic bc it was turbocharged I hope you make the same comments to your favorite mustang or camaro at the race track thats on nitrous or supercharged.
