  • there was seven tram & train crossing and now there only four

  • @massa101257 That's interesting! Where were the others???

  • @DC4916 on the old city circle line which runs inbetween royal park and rushall on three tram routes no. 96, 1 and 112

  • Because the trains use a higher voltage than trams, there's special equipment that changes the voltage on the overhead wires depending if a train or a tram is using the crossing. I think this is why the trains have to go so slow...

  • @themarto16: Thanks for that. Regardless of the reason, these crossings make for interesting video. I hope to get to Melbourne during the year and video/photograph trains/trams on the other two crossings.

  • first time i see that....

  • cool , but why do the Trains go so slow over the crossing?

  • I think its from a slight chance of derailment. Not sure its ever happened but not worth taking the chance

  • oh , ic wierd

  • @Nexis4Jersey actually i got that wrong. the TRAINS not the TRAMS slow down because there is a station right after the tram square sorry for being wrong!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kawasaki2948 oh ok thats interesting,

  • @Nexis4Jersey because the drivers want the passengers to have a comfortable ride on the tram. If they go to fast the tram will start jumping!

  • @Nexis4Jersey trains are restricted to 15km/h (9mph) due to the age of the tram squares.
