Oh guys, come on. Chris Colfer is not Barbra Streisand, we know, but if the glee's productor wants him to sing barbra, he have to do it. Shut the hell up about this nobody CHRIS. This is Barbra Streisand, people, this role was practically written with Babs in mind. Styne wanted Streisand all along basically while no one else did. Babs first album had come out only in February 63 and they decided that summer on her for the role. She was almost an unknown at that time, having had some small time successes and tv exposure and one small role in a Broadway show, gaining steam. Bravo, Jule Styne, for believing in Barbra like Bryce was!

Chris is far from a nobody. None of us are saying that Barbra isn't absolutely fantastic and that she didn't bring this role to life beautiful, but Chris did an amazing job too. He continually goes onto glee and sings songs traditionally meant for girls and he puts his soul into them without any embarrassment or awkwardness. He is amazing, and I can say with certainty that if Ms Streisand saw how much passion and talent Chris put into his performance, she would be impressed and proud

Singing this for a cabaret- so excited :) As for the whole Barbra vs. Chris situation- both are immensely talented performers: with different interpretations of a fantastic song. Chris brung a fresh face to it, and Barbra made it what it is. Barbra is a belter, Chris is a mixer. Both both actors are extremely talented.

I adore Glee and Chris Colfer is my favorite actor and singer on the show, but you guys have got to stop doing this. Going on the original and saying that the glee version is better just pisses people off and makes people hate the show and the show's fans. It doesn't matter who you think did a better job, it just kinda makes you look like a dick. Glee is a show of covers which makes people hate it enough already, saying that the cover was better than the original is just digging a deeper hole.

I'm sorry. I'm just SORRY. But anyone who thinks that Chris came anywhere near to equaling or surpassing this doesn't understand acting or performing. Chris started out at 11 and stayed there. This song is about slowly, subtly revealing to the audience how talented the performer actually is when all outward appearances are that she's terrible. Barbra slowly, slowly lets us in more and more to Fanny's true abilities and by the end we forget that she was ever rejected. Chris gave us NONE of that.
