In fact even in the areas where the so called war is taking place or people are being displaced it is NOT as bad as they make it seem! Choco is one of the most biodiverse regions in the nation of Colombia, and its inhabitants are being exploited but they still have a beautiful culture and land!!

It seems that the current drug war is good for everyone but the people of Colombia. Corrupt governments want to control the Trafficking of drugs not eradicate it. Drug lords want their protection over their place in the market. And arms dealers/manufactures want to feed the power struggle.

When America wages war on a drug producing country, the drug output of that country multiplies, there is more suffering of the poor and the country is destroyed. The regime the US puts in place and supports is usually more corrupt and evil then previews. I blame all this on Uribe's regime by using paramilitary groups and aid from US to steel land from the defenseless population. America needs to take a hard look over its foreign policies around the world. The public needs to watch this.

it is considered safer than Venezuela by most folks in latin america. It has a new thriving turist trade going on now. I am considering going there this year. I would say take the same care that you would in any large poor city. Don't wear flashy jewlery, clothing with high end labels, Mind you that even Guess is considered the same as Prada. @rosey312 you seem to forget that tourists especially females smell "roses" they have been to a spa,they look relaxed and their skin is smooth and brown, they have manicured fingers even if when they wear sandals and just a towel it is obvious that those are rich tourist broads.You just have to stay in bogota and not wander around, not "explore". enjoy those bits of local culture they sprinkle in those resorts that's it.
There are places in every country in the world that one should not wander around in.

Its sad that everyone seems to ignore the country. They point out that theres about 4 million refugees within the country, but theres about another 4 million or so externally displaced also. Many of us continue to live abroad with very little hope of returning as long as the level of violence continues at the current rate.

what is the relationship between the paramilitaries-guerillas and drug cartels? if the new paramilitaries such as the black eagles are working with the cartels- does that put the cartels at conflict with the guerillas and older paramilitary groups? wouldn't it be within the cartel's best interests to keep things peaceful in order to run a smoother drug trade?

Wow. This video is watchable! The interviewee's are also actually subtitled(really shocked).. AND the vclip goes for longer than 3 minutes! I almost forgot that this used to be a realyly cool channel before it turned into one big commercial/advertising/preview /trailer channel.. i hope you keep this up, because the channel is getting worse( by the day.. and thats a shame, as this WAS one of the best channels.. emphasis on WAS. I hope it can get back up there, but i'm not gonna hold my breath.

thats a good idea isn't it. If for example someone infects cocaine with cyanide, then others will get scared of snorting it coz they could die straightaway, that will make them stop doing drugs.

it is considered safer than Venezuela by most folks in latin america. It has a new thriving turist trade going on now. I am considering going there this year. I would say take the same care that you would in any large poor city. Don't wear flashy jewlery, clothing with high end labels, Mind you that even Guess is considered the same as Prada. Don't speak english loud. keep a $20 in your front pocket if you are robbed so that they don't get mad and hurt you Bon voyage

@rosey312 you seem to forget that tourists especially females smell "roses" they have been to a spa,they look relaxed and their skin is smooth and brown, they have manicured fingers even if when they wear sandals and just a towel it is obvious that those are rich tourist broads.You just have to stay in bogota and not wander around, not "explore". enjoy those bits of local culture they sprinkle in those resorts that's it.

There are places in every country in the world that one should not wander around in.
Just because you think someone is rich, does not mean that they are. Maybe someone gave them a gift of travel or they worked 6 days a week and saved every penny to take their trip. If they are rich, maybe they work their ass off to get what they have. The part that you see of their lives may not be the whole of their lives. Why should a doctor/ lawyer be ashamed of what he has earned?Have you been to Colombia?
