I wouldn't go so far as to call them genius. I do quite enjoy their music, but, it really is not that original. They still appear to be playing rock/metal in a standard compositional format...They don't do anything with the music itself that has never been done before.

They go above and beyond what is considered the "norm" and popular, and don't worry about whether it will sell, they do what they like, and are good at what they do.
