  • First Steve Nash, second place among Magic Johnson, Stockton y Jason Kidd, Ricky Rubio will be with them

  • Magic Johnson is the best passer of all time

  • Great video's thanks for the post! bring on Walt Frasier , Rick Barry, J kidd , Lenny Wilkens . Wait till we see these!!

  • @tellthetruthg

While Frazier, Barry and Wilkens all HOFers, they were nowhere near the career apg totals as those featured in the video (Bird being an exception due to his size). As for Kidd, this video was made in 1996 after his second season in the league. No one knew 15 years ago he'd become one of the greatest PG's of all time!

  • @americanaccents The title is "Assists Masters"not all time leading assists leaders. Frasier, Barry , Wilkens are in the all time Assists stats. Frasier, or Wilkens top 20 or higher all time Barry's in there too. But when the title is "masters" all of them dropped dimes as well as any of the featured players. See Baskett ball ref . com

  • @americanaccents revised reply to americanaccents . Wilkens is top 20; Frasier and Barry are not but Barry was a scoring machine and Walt was on teams that every player passed well so his assists total would probably be higher if the men he passed to shot more instead of making the 2cnd or 3rd pass. Still Barry, Wilkens Frasier are Assists Masters

  • @tellthetruthg

This wasn't my compilation, as you can see in the description. However, Magic, Thomas, Stockton, Robertson, they're all in the top ten. Cousy was the original playmaker, who after all these years still sits at #17 all time. Bird is the best passing forward of all time at #34, hence why he's on this list. I also would beg to differ in terms of highlight reel-type players like the Pistol etc. but again it's not my video. I merely thought it was a good one just the same.

  • W0W magic johnson

  • where the fuck is Pete Maravich?

  • @sabbathgodsofmetal

Calm down. Anyway, this video reflects upon the all-time assists leaders. Magic, Thomas, Stockton, Robertson, they're all in the top ten. Cousy was the original playmaker, who after all these years still sits at #17 all time. Bird is the best passing forward of all time at #34. Maravich sits way down at #119. Flashy, but not nearly as productive in dishing the rock as these guys.

  • Malone is nothing without stockton...Tim Duncan is better than K. Malone...Stockton made Malone look better than he was.

  • A quiz for you, just for fun. In NBA history, there are four players who over a four year period, averaged 20 points and 10 assists. Who are they?

  • @emmettk

Oscar, Magic, KJ, and Isiah. Deron will soon be added to that list.

  • @americanaccents You are correct, sir. Those are the four. Deron had a better chance with his old Jazz team. They're going to have to get him some more help in N.J. for him to have a chance there. Chris Paul might get there first. He's the only current player to do it even once. Derek Rose and Russell Westbrook are also possible threats.

  • @americanaccents I think the one people were most likely to miss was Kevin Johnson. Even though you correctly got it, I felt I'd better clarify who KJ is because some may not know. Heck, some don't even know who Oscar Robertson is. Only Magic can claim to be a better player out of all point guards.

  • @americanaccents who's KJ?

  • @camdened123456

Kevin Johnson. One of the truly elite players when healthy; which wasn't too often in the latter half of his career.

  • No Maravich?

  • that assist at the beginning shouldn't even be an assist. How do you get the ball to a post up player, they do their post up move, and you get an assist? Doesnt make any sense to me.

  • @coffeecat73

If you want to analyze his 15,805 other credited assists, be my guest. Until then, you're a douche.

  • @americanaccents my my, how sensitive we are to such a trivial observation.

  • @coffeecat73 that was the assist where he passed the record you idiot...that's why it was in the video

  • @MikeyIV , it was still lame. It was a weak assist.

  • kinda disappointed to not see jordan in it, he was one of the best passers in the game ever.

  • @thettruest

Again, this is based on assist average. His scoring output was five times his assist numbers.

  • @americanaccents his career scorin output being 5 times his assist numbers doesnt matter. that was only because he playd 2 guard most his career. When he playd it, his point guard stats/game were some of the most dominant in history.

I guess i didnt figure that this video was just all-time assist leaders when they compiled it, but that proly shudnt matter either

  • @thettruest First, he never played point guard. Ever. Secondly, and I really hate to have to resort to figures, but here goes:

John Stockton (10.5, #2 all time)

Bob Cousy (7.5, #17 all time, #2 at the time of his retirement)

Larry Bird (6.4, #43 all time, #1 among players 6'9" or taller)

Oscar Robertson (9.5, #4 all time)

Isiah Thomas (9.3, #5 all time)

Magic Johnson (11.2, #1 all time)

Michael Jordan (5.2, #82 all time)

There. You can't dominate everything, plain and simple.

  • @americanaccents alrite u idiot, yes he did play point guard. And while doin so, he almost broke the record for most consecutive triple doubles in history.

    youtube(.)com/watch?v=60XIzix3PlE

theres a good article about his PG days, the #s he put up, and in the early comments the records he was settin. All this while playin SG all his life, and adjustin on the fly, @ the highest level. He avgd nearly 30 pts 11 apg and 9 rpg. good one Mr. Basketball History. "never playd point guard. Ever." LOL.

  • @americanaccents and oh yea, i guess it isnt based on all time assist leaders, since bird is in it. So there goes that entire argument.

this is not to mention wut Jordan did at the TWO guard in the 91 NBA FINALS, vs the man Magic himself. Avgin 31pts, 11.4 asts on nearly 57% shootin and 50% 3pt FG.

  • @thettruest stupid youtube doesnt allow their own links. first copy the links in notepad, delete parenthesis + hidden characters n make sure they match exactly. then put it in ur browser.

  • Wow, especially Magic.

  • @dimuha87 OMGoodness Magic was scary good!

  • isiah thomas is crazy!!!! that pass was too muchh!!!!!

  • Lebron James = Magic Johnson (on Steroids :P)

  • points gaurds of all time.

    magic = entertainment

pistol = sheer talent and wrk

bob cousey = out of his time revelotionary

jason kidd/steve nash = everthing a PG is

  • My top 4 players of all time

    1.Michael Jordan

    2."Pistol" Pete Maravich

    3.Larry Bird

    4.Earvin "Magic" Johnson

    Top 4 PGs

    1."Pistol" Pete Maravich

    2.Earvin "Magic" Johnson

    3.Jerry West

    4.Bob Cousy

  • Jerry West was a great passer, but people don't generally recognize him for his point guard skills. He wasn't flashy like all these guys. To be on the same level as Magic and Isiah meant you have to make the position entertaining for fans.

  • That is also true! Jerry was mainly known for his clutch performances and long-distance shooting. Nevertheless one of the greatest players to ever play the game!

  • Without a doubt. That shot he made against the Knicks is one of the greatest shots in basketball history. If it'd come 10 years later, they'd have won the game!

  • Exactly! We don't have shooters like Jerry, Larry, or Pete like we used to... But as they say history can repeat itself...

  • Pistol Pete and Jerry West were kind of combo gurads but not necessarily point guards

  • Yeah because both of them had the ability to play shooting guard as well. But I still think that they could've held their own if they were in their prime today and if Pete were still alive.

  • @arty2483 Please Identify for me which is which in the video...

  • why is pistol pete #2 on all time players?

  • All a matter of opinion, really. Everybody looks at greatness differently. He did things with a basketball most people could not do. Check out Ricky Rubio, he's certainly going to be a player to watch over the next 15 years.

  • Ricky is a big talent, but I think in America you believe more in him than we do (I live not only in his country, but in his province). I hope you are right.

  • It certainly says something that, other than Blake Griffin, a non-American will be the most talented rookie in the NBA next season.

  • No specific order. I love The Pistol more than the next guy, but I was just saying that he's one of my all-time favorites.

  • Top 5 PGs.

    1.Magic

    2.Isiah

    3.Oscar Robinson

    4.Pistol Pete

    5.John Stockton

  • I'd like to say...

    5. John Stockton

    4. Oscar Robertson

    3. Isiah Thomas

    2. Magic Johnson

    1. Chris Paul

Simply put, Paul does things with the basketball that no one has ever seen. And at such a remarkably young age, too. Magic Johnson wasn't at his best until he was 25, 26 years old. CP3 is 23 years old, not to mention shorter than the other 4 I mentioned. If this video were made in 2008-09, he would certainly have been listed. No question.

  • And before I get razzed on this, yeah I know Paul doesn't have any rings yet. Magic certainly made players like Keith Wilkes, Byron Scott and Michael Cooper look a lot better on the floor than they really were. Paul is doing the same thing with Chandler, Butler and West.

  • I agree he may fav pg in tne nba now gu d list

  • magic is the best pg than isiah than stockton

  • nice vid....u think anyone will ever break stockton's assists record? 15,806...2nd and 3rd place are retired (mark jackson and magic johnson) and they're roughly 5,000 assists behind stockton.

  • Won't ever happen. Stockton dished for 10 per over 19 seasons. No one in the league will ever do that again. Not even Chris Paul.

  • yea, its even hard to just imagine that record being broken...wut do u think about his steals record? 3,265 i believe....if i remember correctly. u think that'll ever be broken?

  • In order for records like Stockton's to be broken, you have to combine consistently remarkable stats with longevity that will never again be seen in a point guard. Also, leadership qualities. One player comes to mind, and his name is Gary Payton, but the leadership in my opinion was never there. There has never been a player like John Stockton since, and there never will be.

  • I would say Isiah Thomas, is the best of went to be selfish and unselfish. John was too unselfish and Gary was too selfish.

  • awesome video...

  • wheres the pistol?? [2]

    ¬¬

  • Read my explanation below.

  • youngsters, imagine a guy who is 6'9" and running the point better than CP3 ever thought. The guys name was Magic Johnson and he did stuff only guys Paul's size should be able to do. But, not only could he run the point, he could move inside and DOMINATE the big boys. Maybe the most complete player ever. EVER!

  • Magic was dominant, and complete, but I would argue that Oscar Robertson was more complete.

  • wheres the pistol??

  • He was a flashy passer yes, but all of these players in the video had high assist totals and were among the league's top 10 each year.

  • where's lebron?

  • This compilation was made in 1996.

  • 5 stars for you. Good to bring back the legendary passers of the NBA.

  • nice vid

  • pretty good

  • good video
