Australia was using the LS7 2 years before in the Monaro W427 before Chev put their Corvettes and it become a "Corvette motor", it was designed and made for racing the Bathurst 24 hour races then GM kept the design after Holden was done with it and used it for them self, and just so you know the GTO is made in Australia, the bodys are made in Elizabeth, SA and the motors are made at Fishermens Bend, Vic. Not to mention America gets the detuned version.

Do your homework cobra's are making 1000 hp on the stock block...

@tufmandan Putting a blower on the new 5.0 is a mistake unless you swap out the pistons. The compression is too high, now nitrous is a different story. I'll stick with my 454 though.
@MidSouthMorphs Personally i wouldn't do it but they have shown that the new 5.0's are putting down very respectable numbers with a very small amount of boost. You can make power 4 ways. N/A with compression, high boost and low compression, high compression and low boost, or nitrous oxide. I would say normally your right but i wouldn't be scared to do 8 lbs of boost to a stock 5.0 just make sure you have a good tune lol. 454 is awesome!!! :)

well i wouldn't consider the 5.0 running the same track times "stomping" the camaro, but the 5.0 was a step in the right direction with ford. Ford typically outhandles their chevy counterpart but the chevy is usually better in a straight line. The GT500 is in the same price range as a stock base line LS3 vette but the vette outperforms in a straight line and in the turns. That stock 6.2 runs the 1/4 in the deep low 12's and on occasion high 11's, bout 1/2 second faster than a GT500.
I forgot, the vette guys still get 28+mpg ont he highway with low 11 second modded vettes. I run mid-high 11's off the nitrous and get 32mpg on the highway everyday even at 5000ft. On nitrous it's a 10 sec car and my warranty still has 80,000 miles left on it. If my engine goes pop I get a new one for free.

The cobra's are one of the baddest rides around for the money and the internals are stronger than almost any other motor on the planet except maybe the supra but both can handle north of 600 hp. That is a bone stock engine making north of 550 with spray 450 without so its down about 150 hp WITHOUT SPRAY...so your complaining about a car that makes 450 hp...from a stock blower, stock bottom end, rods, pistons, trans rear end. Do your homework cobra's are making 1000 hp on the stock block...

@thunderup86 I totally have respect for blown camaro's and LS1's but not as much as i respect cobra's such as the 96-01 which received a Teksid block forged by the same people that make blocks for Ferrari. I do no care for the GT 500 all that much just too heavy. But all respect in the world for a 6.2 supercharged engine! All i can say is the new 5.0 is a beast of a motor and even more so with a blower.

@tufmandan Putting a blower on the new 5.0 is a mistake unless you swap out the pistons. The compression is too high, now nitrous is a different story. I'll stick with my 454 though.

@MidSouthMorphs Personally i wouldn't do it but they have shown that the new 5.0's are putting down very respectable numbers with a very small amount of boost. You can make power 4 ways. N/A with compression, high boost and low compression, high compression and low boost, or nitrous oxide. I would say normally your right but i wouldn't be scared to do 8 lbs of boost to a stock 5.0 just make sure you have a good tune lol. 454 is awesome!!! :)

well i wouldn't consider the 5.0 running the same track times "stomping" the camaro, but the 5.0 was a step in the right direction with ford. Ford typically outhandles their chevy counterpart but the chevy is usually better in a straight line. The GT500 is in the same price range as a stock base line LS3 vette but the vette outperforms in a straight line and in the turns. That stock 6.2 runs the 1/4 in the deep low 12's and on occasion high 11's, bout 1/2 second faster than a GT500.

I forgot, the vette guys still get 28+mpg ont he highway with low 11 second modded vettes. I run mid-high 11's off the nitrous and get 32mpg on the highway everyday even at 5000ft. On nitrous it's a 10 sec car and my warranty still has 80,000 miles left on it. If my engine goes pop I get a new one for free.

Wow you are ignorant to cars. Research before posting. Factory Cobra= 390+ HP to flywheel. w/ tune, pulley and bolt ons close to 470 at the wheels most likely depending on temperature and humidity. If the cobra driver could race the 300 should be only seen in the rearview.
