yes in India Tatas are used as taxi's, Tata Motors only survived because of thier HCV(Heavy Commercial Vehicle) segment, their trucks here are bought like chocolates because they are cheap. With that Tata grew, honestly, i dont consider tata a good company... and im surprised that tata motors wants to buy jaguar and Land Rover.

Mercedes Benz's are used as Taxis as well in many countries, by that same logic they should suck as well. Tata started out with commercial vehicles, but their cars get better and better with each passing generation.

i understand what you are saying but the TATA CV /HCV/LCV/MCV segment is not that great, They are too busy focusing ans spending all they're money on their pv segment that they do bad in commercial vehicle industry. TATA CV's are weak and underpowered. As far as the topic as CV's go, Ashok Leyland is by far the best CV in India, they might not be the largest or the leading company but they are better.

Thats just my opinion, but honestly, I dont like tata and i think they're overrated.

Yes i agree ashok leyland is 100% better, no doubt. But Let me tell you one thing dear Product means not just car, but a perfect Product means a perfect combination of 4 P's these 4 P's are product, price, place (distribution), and promotion. What tata offers you and at what price and with what intention(to serve or just earn) matters. Now look at the other companies suppose farrari, they will earn when they sell , they will also earn/loot when they serve (after sales service).

Now look at sony in electronics, suppose u buy there digicam they will earn when u buy, there products are costlier , they will earn high by selling you compimentary products which are prorietory(like memorystick which is their proprietory product and digicam wont work without memory stick no other format is supported)

If you look at othertata products like Mobile phone services, DishTv Services, Tata Salt, Tata Steel etc u will find that they are working to serve. Tata is best , Look at a Ambani's Reliance , pocket pickers.
