  • I hate morgana...shes heartless...

she told him to commit suicide....and he did..for her

i hope it haunts her for the rest of her miserable life...

    Lancelot, im so sorry.........

  • I think what happened was that the Shade used Lancelot's body but I think that Lancelot's soul was still in there somewhere and I think that Merlin released Lancelot's soul from the body so he could rest in peace

  • @LoveOBxxxx I agree. That's exactly what I was gonna say. I'm glad OUR Lancelot was given a proper burial and is able to rest in peace.

  • Isnt it the viking burial, when they put the dead body in a boat, set it on fire then push it out to sea? Or in this case the lake?

  • Why does Merlin like to set people's bodies of fire...Its just wrong! And why didn't anyone else show up? I mean come on, he's still your friend...

  • @LocoArtCo I was feeling really sad about what happened in this episode, then I read your comment, and started laughing.

  • I love how much husband use to mean

  • morgana must be died!!

  • Very chauvinistic show! Arthur gets vindicated in "Sweet Dreams" episode for his enchantment with Vivian! But when it's Gwen who was enchanted then it's as if the writers really intended for her to represent the adulteress of legend. This is not a new interpretation of the legend. It is not a twist since everyone believes Gwen betrayed Arthur of her own vollition! Will Gwen ever be proven innocent?

  • I reckon Merlin made him the real Lancelot, so he'd die with honour. *sniff*

  • @missjones873 I think Merlin looked surprised because he didn't expect Lancelot to wake up. Perhaps he is really not dead. He is after all the First Knight of Camelot! He can't die before even it begins. I bet he will return in a proper way, perhaps he will re-born from Avalon.

  • I heard at the end of this season Arthur and Gwen will be married and she will become the Queen of Camelot.

  • Is it just me or anyone else finds it hilarious the way Merlin looks at Aggravain? Merlin just can't wait to teach him a lesson but not getting any opportunity.

  • @zipzap570 I noticed that too. That look, like Merlin was wishing Aggie was on that table instead of Lancelot. Knowing that it was probably Aggravain who ended Lancelot's life. This season is so full of indirect, non verbal communication. Nothing less than superior acting on Colin's part. ...or the writer's part too.

  • @18merlin14

He does! He truly does! He knows that Agravaine/Morgana is behind everything bad that happens to his friends/especially in this episode. I bet Merlin just despises Agravaine, but is stuck cuz he can't prove it/Arthur refuses to see the truth. For anyone whose seen the preview for the finale, that really comes back to bite him & Camelot!!! Kinda hope Merlin rubs that in his face a bit, but also comforts him too!!!

  • Why not? Gwen needs to stay away from Camelot and Arthur for her own sanity's sake and to become her own person. The idea of Gwen as a warrior queen of Camelot doesn't sound bad! Her servant character doesn't allow her to branch out! She needs to become more independent, assertive, tough, and fearless.

  • If they do bring Lancelot back, I'm hoping perhaps he and Princess Elena could hook up? Would love it if Elena found him husband material! Santiago is a pretty gorgeous man!

  • I love the looks that come across Merlin's face at the mere mention of that uncle and his tone of voice, it's as if he pains him to say the name and he wants to spit after. When they are in the same room it is a full on death stare. :) Watch this clip again and you will see what I mean.

  • bad ending episode..hmmm..

  • i think this's best episode.. very sad............ best lanceleot's..........

    thank you

    good work merlin

  • yeaahh! Finally Morgana win! :-D

  • AAAARRGHHHH...first, lancelot dies....then, he lives again, just to be known to die as a non-hero!...sssoooooo sadd...:,(...so, this is the end of Lance-A-Lot...so not happy!..:(...im starting to think this season's stories are not much truly what we expected....maybe we should let the writers some good time to write really good stuffs, rather than them rushing to go for next episodes which are not satisfying!...boohoooo..lanceleot's gone..the noblest knight!..id actually like to see him more..

  • Gwen could probably have taken a horse -- but she probably didn't feel it was hers to take. I'm sure Arthur wouldn't have minded.

  • NEW GEORGE thank you for that explanation! It makes this whole incredibly sad ending easier to accept. Wonderful thing to know that Lance was in the end at peace again.

  • Call me a geek, but I have discovered what Merlin's spell was to free Lancelot: "Grið fæstne mid þisse tintregian sawle" which means "Peace bestow with this tormented soul"

  • @bleedinghearthero wow. very geeky indeed but very interesting and very helpful. it solves the mystery. How on earth did you go about finding this out? I dont think middle english is on the babelfish list.:/

  • @newgeorge I used a website called "Old English Translator" :P

  • @bleedinghearthero well I never

  • @bleedinghearthero Thank you for the translation! Wow! How were you able to figure out how to spell the words he was saying in old English in the episode? That's awesome!

    Thanks again! :D

  • @MessengeroftheNight Haha, you're very welcome :) I wish I had a more exciting/mysterious answer, but I found the Old English spell on Merlin Wiki under "necromancy" and then translated it using an Old English Translator online :)

  • I like the final scene. I love what Merlin did to Lancelot that allowed Lancelot to be who he really is for the final moment. I love how Colin acted as he looked happy and sad at the same time, when a true friend came back and left again.

  • i think he gave him his freedom, released him from Morgana's spell, so he could die as a free knight of camelot, even though he still remained a shadow.

  • What Gwen is gone NOOO D:

  • love the melody end of the episode...

  • lancelot........

  • I think Merlin's spell freed him. I really wish they'd waited with this. Let Arthur and Gwen have some time being happily married. I've had enough of Uncle Agravation. I was hoping Merlin would have caught on to the bracelet

  • @MusikInMeSoul I know you all are heartbreaken and it was a very emotional episode but your comment was just too funny. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WAIT A MINUTE. Does anyone think that the fact that Gwen threw off the bracelet in the dungeon will have any significance later on? It might...

  • @sweetpea887 I'm hoping Merlin will somehow stumble upon it......and know what it is.....

  • no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you MJ for bringing this episodes up for all us Merlin fans to see. Each week I see the number of views skyrocket by the next day. We all appreciate the hard work and effort getting them to us. TY from the bottom of my heart.

  • @18merlin14 seriously since u have a false heart. u really shldnt thank people from it..actually insults them! Apologize!! u witch

  • The enchanted bracelet is still in the dungeon... wonder who'll find it?

Surprised a shade could die, even by suicide. Interesting. I also think the spell released Lancelot's soul from Morgana's grasp. It was hers until that point, even after he took his own life. The coin was 'the price of a soul' after all.

    Thank you, Merlinjunkie!

  • Lancelot looked beautiful in his black outfit on boat.

Yeah I think Merlin was able to release his soul from Morgana's enchantment in the end.

    Very touchy scene

  • THANK YOU!

  • There are only three episodes left. This does place an interesting twist. Last week's episode was ridiculous but this episode was really, REALLY good. Aside from my love for Morgana, it is important that she be successful in some of her attempts at Camelot. A villain that isn't respected makes the show less interesting and realistic. Kudos to the writers. They redeemed themselves from last week. Are we ever going to see the dragon, again? I like him.

  • @mirambeau77 yeah, from what I hear....just wait until the end of the season -- I think Morgana will definitely get some "respect" -- unfortunately

  • OMG! Please tell me there is going to be another season of this show!!

  • @cheart99 yeah they've already confirmed at least one more season after this cause the rating is really good.

  • Aaaaahhhh!!!! This episode was my least favorite of all, EVER!!!! I hate this episode!!!! How awful. Arthur thinks Gwen betrayed him. Lancelot is dead. Gwen is banished. Ugh! Too sad....they were so close to finally getting married.

  • I soooo hoping that when Arthur FINALLY finds out about Merlin that Merlin will TELL him that Lancelot was a shade and then Gwen will come back WITHOUT any misgivings between the two. AAAAHHHHH!!!!! I love merlin but boy I wanted to slap him and tell him to do SOMETHING!!!! ... I guess i'll just have to wait to see what happens next. PS: Is anyone else missing the lack of magic Merlin's been doing the last couple episodes! :(

  • Why does everyone hate on Elyan's reaction?

He knew what she did to Arthur, he's a knight of the king, he's ashamed and embaressed, he knew Arthur wouldn't kill her, he's just dissapointed.

  • @WrathMuffin I agree, I don't think anything Elyan could say to Arthur would change Arthur's mind. Elyan's look to Gwen said -- I feel for you, but how could you do this?

  • @snowcat60 Exactly :D! Someone understands what I was trying to say !

  • I don't get it. What did Merlin do to Lancelot before sending him out onto the lake? Did he do something to his soul, or...??????? Ug, what an episode. I'm angry all over!

  • @kattwin1 i think merlin's spell freed lancelot's soul so he could rest in peace. that's why he thanked merlin.

  • Can hardly wait for Gwen/Morgana catfight to the death! Will Morgana confess what she did to break her and Arthur apart? Will Arthur be nearby to eavesdrop on their confrontation and learn the truth? BBC isn't that kind towards the Gwen character! I seriously doubt it. Arthur will always hate Gwen because of Lancelot incident. Stupid, Ugly, Bastard, Arrogant, Arthur!

  • MJ, regarding your question, yes, I think Merlin released him, but not just from Morgana's spell, but from the nightmare of his prior non-existence, I think he freed his soul to go to the proper after-life, safe from being a pawn for the "dark side"!

  • @pinks4life I would like to believe what you said so beautifully! Thanks

  • What is the name of the music track at 1:30?

  • The look of disgust on Merlin's face when Arthur says, "In all ways but one, Lancelot was a man of honour." shows us that he's disgusted that honorable people keep dying, while the wicked continue to thrive.

The violin piece that's played as Merlin touches Lancelot's forehead brings me to tears. It's the same piece that was played at Lancelot's wake. I hope Merlin BBC should make a soundtrack album for us fans.

  • @JustineFromQueens There is a soundtract for season one; also season 2 I think. I have the season one cd, it is wonderful, has that witches aria from the first episode!

  • @snowcat60 Really?! Might I ask where you purchased yours? Amazon.com, eBay...?

  • @JustineFromQueens Season One and Two soundtracks are available on amazon.com. I just (right now) purchased Season Two soundtrack..... just be careful you purchase the right Merlin (there are other Merlins out there) Hope that helps!

  • @snowcat60 It sure does. Thank you :-)

  • By far the darkest episode of the series so far without any humor or banter between Merlin and Arthur. Since the writers aren't bound to any particular version of the Arthurian legend, who knows where we're headed in regards to the future of Gwen and Arthur or the reemergence of Lancelot. I was surprised that Gwen's brother didn't comfort her as she left Camelot.

  • @SoCalifFan Gwen's brother looked pretty disgusted with Gwen when he left the throne room. He didn't comfort her because he thought she was at fault... unfortunately..

  • this last episode has puzzled me quite a lot so I watched it again. The grief that Merlin shows: Is he remembering Freyja and his father and the departure of Gwen all rolled into one? Lancelot was the only one who knew he had magic: this made him special among all the knights of course. Yes I think Merlin takes the Morgana spell off Lancelot so his reputation is in a way restored and Lancelot is once again simply the man who gave his life for his king (and for Merlin of course.)

  • @newgeorge sadly, anything merlin did wouldnt have made a dent by way of restoring Lancelot`s tattered reputation. this episode was so poorly written, i`m just shocked...mystified. first of all, the marriage plot is just awkwardly introduced. it would have been much better to introduce the matter several episodes before and build up to this last 2 days before the wedding. the lancelot storyline is plain weak. Arthur accepting Gwen`s betrayal is out of character too.

  • Gwen`s brother has literally no reaction, thats another problem...it is not like him at all. I`m sorry, but this is just very bad writing....very very very bad writing. it almost feels like they decided to treat one of the central plots in the story (ie. the marriage) as an obstacle and were in a hurry to fail it and move on to something else. I grade this episode a T...for TROLL.

  • @melikab The only thing I didn't like about this episode was the way they treated Lancelot, all the honour that was bestowed on him through his courageous sacrifice was just stripped from him and it would be very unfair if they left it this way. I am still hoping that Lancelot will come back since this episode was titled "Lancelot du Lac" presumably because he was sent to Avalon in the same lake in which the Lady of the Lake dwells, like in the legend where he was raised by the Lady of the Lake.

  • @bleedinghearthero I agree with everything you've said and as much as I want him back ( the best knight ever), the way he was sent back to death and Merlin's tears are pretty much telling everything. Lancelot gone for good - Disappointed ...nothing else to say (=.=)

  • @Feyloush Lancelot is my favourite knight too :( super disappointed...

  • In terms of writing, I didn't think it was too bad. The look that was exchanged between Elyan and Gwen in the throne room said everything (in my opinion), it was stronger than having an exchange of words. Likewise when Merlin stood in the distance looking after Gwen as she left Camelot also said more than if they had exchanged actual words.

  • I like how the show displayed Merlin's growth in magic. When he burned Freya, he had to use his hand and an enchantment. Cool.

  • what's with all the black???????

  • how many times can Lancelot return? For the legend to continue, he must.

Gwen needed to show them the bracelet!

  • @cornball918 Yes but Gwen didnt know it was magic either so why would she?

  • woohooo. I love that finally one of Morgana's plans worked. it was about time!! great that Gwen is gone, but sadly she will be back. anyway, who on team Morgana isnt happy for her!! :)

  • @pansyanddraco you are surely the One and Only! :/

  • @newgeorge dont be so presumptuous >_< as to think morgana hasnt any fans. she hasnt become a villian everyone wants to see again based purely on her looks. people like her personality!!

  • lancelot didn't deserve to die like that. in the first time he died, at least he had his honor, but now ... it's so sad... i love him so much, poor guy

  • I'm gonna miss Lancelot in this, but I guess he had to go. Perhaps one day Arthur and Gwen can be together again.

  • Poor Lancelot. Revived just to die again. D:

  • when arthur find out the truth.. i hope gwen take some times to forgive him..then arthur will feel how painful it is for gwen.. jeng ..jeng jeng...

  • which music is in the end of this part?

  • @ellaaaaaaaa1 I was wondering that too. Its a great tune but have we heard it before??

  • @newgeorge yes in season 4 episode 1...but i am not sure if there are more episodes with this tune...O_o

  • Why would Arthur consider Lancie a 'man of honour' after all this? It is as if he puts all the blame onto Gwen for what happened.

  • can anyone pls tell me is it true lancelot wll return?

  • i think merlin somehow gave lancelot his soul back cuz remember morgana said she had to do the spell at a price of a soul, i guess that soul was lancelots, could explain how he can be controlled so easily & why morgana felt sorry for him.

RIP(again) lancelot, though i have a feeling he might come back again, if freya can then why cant lancelot especially if the writers want to bring in avalon in the future seasons...umm probably just wishful thinking, i hate how he's now portayed in camelot :(

  • Can they stop killing lancelot? Seriously. Stop it.

  • yeah. Ive seen chemistry between Arthur and Gwen once in all 4 seasons.

  • I can't believe the amount of people who are surprised by this, all the foreshadowing we've had, the things the actors have said and the LEGENDS! A/G was never meant to be "happily ever after" no matter how much the shippers wanted it.

  • @gatepromise I'm not a shipper but I'm quite sure the show will have an happy ending for them infact they save gwen's face by making her enchanted if they didn't want an happy ending it should have been more interesting making gwen in love with lance for real

  • @gatepromise I disagree. Gwen is not married to Arthur yet so we know she will have to get married to him thus there will be a "happy ending" for this verison of the legends. The "betrayal" happened BEFORE the marriage and Lancelot is dead so that's over and done. They have to make up in some way for the wedding and no poltital issue involved.. With her being enchanted we know that it will be corrected & Arthur will have to forgive her just as she did him..."I never loved another."

  • Such fantastic acting in this, especially by Angel, Bradley and Colin. I feel just as badly for Arthur as I do for Gwen--he doesn't know she was enchanted, thinks she has betrayed him. He showed her mercy even though his heart is broken and even though Uncle Scumbag is trying to get him to execute her. Also notice the sign of the times, she is held completely responsible while Lancelot is still the most honorable and noble. Felt most sorry for Merlin who lost yet another friend.

  • @gatepromise she is more responsible becasue she was to marry arthur and she said she loved him lance has his obligations towards arthur because he is a knight and infact arthur attacked him with his sword so I don't think they didn't give him responsability but of course it's more gwen's in my opinio. at the end arthur said he was a man of honour because he decided to pay his mistake with his life (of course arthur doesn't know about morgana so that's it)

  • I just want to remind everyone that Bradley James has been describing A/G as a "messed up relationship" for awhile now and that their eventual pairing is "Political" and that he was bashed for it just as I was for pointing it out. In the legends A/G was never about love, it was an arranged marriage and she was in love with Lancelot. This ep was a new twist on that. A/G may marry eventually but it's not the fairy tale A/G fans were expecting or hoping for. Great acting from all.

  • @gatepromise There are multiple versions of the legend, some where Lancelot doesn't even exist. Even so, hasn't the mantra of this show circled been about being original and putting a spin on the older stories?

  • I couldn't stop crying after Arthur banished Gwen...I don't even feel like watching this show anymore because it's just too sad now :( I can't believe that happened! :'(

  • @sweetpea887 OMG me too! :( Although I'm very interested in seeing how the writers bring her back. She has to return at some point, right?

  • @xoUSHox Same here! I do think she has to come back, if they're sticking to the legend even as they're twisting it. Gwen has to become queen eventually, I just hope that Arthur can find out she was enchanted and gain trust in her again before he loses her. But yeah, I can't wait to see how they'll bring her back! I wonder if they'll do it in this series or the next...

  • @sweetpea887 I don't think they have to stick to the legend. In the legend, Morgana was not of Royal blood. Here she is. In the legend, Guinevere and Morgana BOTH live peacefully, for a while, in Camelot. She is forgiven after being so destructive. Now, THAT would be interesting to see. That being said, they may not follow the legend with Guinevere, if they're not following the legend with Morgana's birthright and return to the castle. I'm still waiting for Mordred and the Dragon's return. lol

  • @mirambeau77 Well, yeah, that's true...I doubt they'll leave out Gwen completely though, I'm positive they'll bring her back. As much as I hate this episode, they did a really really great job portraying this whole scenario.

  • @mirambeau77 Depends on which version of the legend one reads. In some versions Morgana is Uther's bastard daughter. In others she is the daughter of Gorlois and Ygraine. Gwen isn't a servant in any version. She is the daugther of a king. So, by making Morgana Uther's daughter here they are staying true to some versions of the legend.

  • @CathieSoli

Earliest versions Morgan was Guinevere's lady-in-waiting. Morgan wasn't a paragon of virtue and fidelity herself. Gwen caught her trysting with a cousin of hers. While married Morgan plotted with her lover, Accolon, to have her husband murdered. Even Morgause was killed by one of her sons when he caught her in bed with a lover. She and her lover were killed on the spot.

  • @doctorsam000 I've never read the earliest versions. You are right about Morgan. She deliberately seduced her own brother so she'd get pregnant to grap power where she could. I've read a couple of versions where she plotted with Accolon to have Arthur murdered. I remember that with Morgause. Oh yeah. Both sisters were something else. That is for sure.

  • @mirambeau77 In some versions of the legend Morgana is Uther's bastard daughter. In others she is the daugher of Gorlois and Ygraine. Here they have made her Uther's daugther which is true to some versions of the legend. In all versions of the legend Gwen is a princess. Here they have made her a servant which I don't really like.

  • @CathieSoli

Servitude doesn't suit Gwen! Why couldn't they have made her a warrior, a con-artist, a bounty hunter, a magical being, or even a priestess (not of old religion, though)? If writers wanted ARWEN obstacles, any of the above mentioned would have made interesting story lines and created huge hindrances for their love. Social class differences are so cliche!

  • @doctorsam000

Maybe while she's away, she could learn how to fight better. Yeah, she knows how to fight, but she's not as skilled as the knights. Angel said that she would like Gwen to grow into a wise, warrior queen.

  • @sweetpea887 I know! Oh my gosh, it broke my heart when Arthur said he still loves her, but cannot trust her. :(

  • @xoUSHox Ahhh omigosh I started crying all over again at that part :/ I thought, "wait, Gwen's still going to come back somehow!" but then that part about how he can't trust her came up again and i became sad about the whole thing all over gain....ughhh i'm so frustrated :/

  • @sweetpea887

From what I've heard, Arthur finds out about the enchantment upon her (thanks to Merlin, I bet) & she foils Morgana/Agravaine's newest plot to destroy Arthur.

  • @TheStarSorceress I hope you're right!

  • @xoUSHox

Yeah, that scene got to me as well. Both cuz of Arthur's words/Merlin's disgust at the whole thing. You can tell he's furious at Arthur for not listening to his own instincts/knows that Morgana/Agravaine are behind the whole thing to get Gwen out of Arthur's life. You can tell Merlin wants to explode at Arthur, but knows he can't cuz he has no proof... yet.

  • @xoUSHox OMG-- I did some research and two episodes from now is "The Hunter's Heart" airing on Dec. 10th. I found a synopsis: Morgana finds a powerful ally in the Southron warlord Helios , as the drama continues. Together they hatch the perfect plan to force Camelot to its knees... With the Kingdom - and Arthur - preoccupied by the arrival of the beautiful Princess Mithian , it falls to an absent friend to raise the alarm.

  • @xoUSHox (continued) But with past wounds still raw, can love really conquer all when Guinevere returns? Or is a deadly arrow destined to fly straight into the heart of Camelot?

WHOA! So Guinevere returns as Arthur begins falling for a princess?! I'm so hoping for a happy ending. This makes me feel better.. cannot wait for this episode now! :)

  • @xoUSHox I hope they have something new to show in episode 11. I remember in season 2 there was episode called 'Lancelot and Guinevere' , Arthur was hearbroken and then there was a filler and then "sweet dreams" where Arthur was hanging out with Lady vivian. I hope they don't repeat the storylines this season.

  • @zipzap570 OH true! good job making that connection. lol. yep, i hope they change it up too.

  • Hate it even that Merlin believed Gwen was enchanted! Does he really have that little faith in Gwen's loyalty and love for Arthur? Surprised there was no good-bye speech between Merlin/Gwen. Thought they were friends?

  • @doctorsam000

No, Merlin knows that Gwen was enchanted & that Morgana/Agravaine planned this whole thing to get her out of Arthur's life. That's why he was so mad at Arthur for banishing her in the 1st place. Seriously, Arthur!!! Stop listening to your scumbag uncle & start listening to Merlin!!!

  • @doctorsam000 Hey, I'm so with you there. It's should be obvious to Merlin if not to anyone else. Merlin's train of thought was getting there but even with Lancelot being a "shade" Gaius convinced Merlin that Gwen was acting on her own. No one is thinking the possiblity of enchantment which would make the story that Guinevere was an adultress be the offical word. That does tie into several of the later verisons of the legends. And some may always feel that way even if the truth is known later.

  • @nialcc

Too much Troyes influence on Gwen's character! Before Troyes, Lancelot didn't existed. Original Welsh legends Gwen was faithful to Arthur! Shame no one has ever made a series of the original versions.

  • @doctorsam000 I think the idea was to make Guinevere a more "interesting" charater by several of the writers of their verison. Being good can be boring if it's not written right. I don't think Merlin did Gwen badly. In fact I think they did their verison very well. It happened BEFORE A WEDDING and not in bed as they did w/Uther & Troll queen. They could have had them kissing in bed as with Arthur & whoever she was. This way it doesn't destroy either character & Gwen still will become queen.

  • @nialcc

Yeah, things will work out between these 2. Apparently, Arthur later finds out about the enchantment & that Morgana/Agravaine were behind the whole thing. From what I've been hearing/reading, Arthur tries to apologize, but Gwen is still hurt that he believed she was capable of doing something so hurtful/refuses to forgive him. As we all know, Merlin gets involved to make things right.

  • @TheStarSorceress

Are these from spoilers? where are the hearing/reading? those writers can pretty much mess up a good love story especially if it's an epic couple (ARWEN). So far they succeeded in portraying Gwen as the adulteress of legends. Thought BBC wanted to do something different? She was enchanted - meaning not herself. In modern times, it's the same as dropping an aphrodisiac pill to spike someone's drink to cause odd behavior.

  • @TheStarSorceress With Gwen being enchanted Arthur would have to find out about it especially when we are talking about a children's show. I also believe he will find out about Lancelot as well. That's the only way to get those two to marriage and they will have to get married. By doing this before the marriage and Lancelot dead Arthur/Gwen's marriage will not be destroyed by this in the future.

But yes Arthur's insecurity about her love for him is the key to all this. His words proves it.

  • @nialcc

Yeah, Gaius did say that Gwen had acted on her own, but Merlin didn't look so convinced. I mean he agreed w/ Gaius, but when Gaius turned away, he just didn't look convinced. At least to me, he didn't.

  • @TheStarSorceress But see why would even Gaius believe that? He has no basis to believe Gwen would do this especially before her wedding. Do none of these people really who Gwen is? No one can give her the benefit of doubt? Why would she risk so much for Arthur for years, ignore Lancelot for at least a year then all of a sudden "betray" Arthur on the night before her wedding to him? Even Gaius should question all that especially when he knows that Morgana didn't want Gwen on her throne.

  • That smile is heartbreaking!!!!!

  • @ssaahhrraa9 It's on the Merlin Wiki. Look under Episode 4.11.

  • Wasnt it supposed to be a cliffhanger? If it was it was A BIG letdown

  • @msmorganwheeler it still kind of is, we don't know what will happen but I've read some comments and spoilers and it sounds as if Arwen are safe! so YESSS!

  • @ssaahhrraa9 yipee! (I say sarcastically)

  • @msmorganwheeler i take it your more into the action magical plot then the romance side of the story

  • I think Merlin's spell released Lancelot's soul from Morgana's command and put Lancelot's soul at peace :)

  • @KesleyWORKS137 It's horribly sad and beautiful :'-)

  • Remember when Merlin confronted Nimue filled with righteous rage?

I can't wait for the confrontation between Merlin (not old Emris) and Morgana when he gets back at her for all this evil. Although, I doubt they'll let Merlin blow up Morgana the way he did Nimue. Though it'd be fun to watch that happen.

  • @musicallie44 Oh the Merlin-Morgana confrontation... words won't be able to describe it, I'm sure.

  • This was so sad, i didn't expect it to be so heartbreaking. All this because of Morgana.

Why was Agravaine saying it was adultery? They were not married and it was just a kiss and she was enchanted. Arthur better find out soon about his uncle and how far he has gone to try to destroy him.

  • Now that's an ending I wasn't expecting what so ever! 0.o

  • I'm crying for Merlin, 1st he loses his father before even getting to know him, then he loses Freya, his one love and now Lancelot x2!

  • *SPOILER ALERT*

Gwen won't be gone for long ; she will come back in episode 11 according to Merlin Wiki.

  • @jedigirl4life where does it say that on wiki, i can't find it

  • Omg, I'm crying again! Rest in peace, Lancelot! I wish he would come back somehow, but as his true self again. Ah, wishful thinking!

  • merlin cry~

    i also cry~

    lancelot, i'll miss u~

    T.T

  • They can't bring him back from this. They CAN NOT! They have creative privilages, so they better use them! If this is how it ends for Lancelt (though it's sad) then let it stick! Let Arthur and Gwen be happy or at least give Arthur another worthy love interest.

  • I DEMAND A HAPPY ENDING RIGHT NOW. LIKE NOW RIGHT NOW! :'(

  • @superspecialawsome13

What? It is happy! This of it this way. Lancelot has been freed from his thrall state. Arthur and Gwen will eventually know the truth since Merlin won't always be hiding his secret. Yes, it's bittersweet. But I wouldn't call this ending devoid of happiness.

  • @musicallie44 lol I guess when you look at it that way, there is an once of happiness. I just love ArthurxGwen so much and was really looking forward to the wedding. Even though I knew Lancelot was coming to mess it all up thanks to Morgana, and I knew it would take time for Arthur to forgive Gwen, a large part of me wanted just a kiss and make up scene that way we could get back to the happy relationship they had. All I know is that by the end of the entire show it better be resolved!

  • How did he die? They say he killed himself but was it something to do with the note morgana sent him?

  • @WrathMuffin She probably sent him the letter saying to kill himself, because he said something like, "Whatever my lady commands." Then we didn't see him again until we saw the dead body. She probably had him kill himself so that if there was a sorcerer in Camelot (which there is, which Morgana now knows about but doesn't know who it is) he couldn't reverse it and learn that it wasn't the real Lancelot and that Gwen had been enchanted.

  • I dont know I dont get it either

  • *sobs*

  • Gaius had said that Morgana had brought a tormented soul back from the dead. So, I think that Merlin gave his soul peace and the true Lancelot thanked him for that.

  • this episode was difficult to watch through all the tears. :(

  • awwww sadness! No more Lancelot...ever....again... :(

I guess Merlin just released him from being a shade so that he didn't die as a shade, he died as the real Lancelot. Which is more honorable...I guess.

  • I do not like what tptb have done with Lancelot, he deserved better. But the series has been epic this season! More mature and much darker. I saw 3 of the scenes I've been waiting for and the scene when Arwen are walking arm in arm across the court yard is still to come. Ooo maybe next week they will show the scene when Arthur is beating the heck out of a target in the rain while loyal Merlin sits near by. MJ I bow at your feet for your kindness & generosity in loading the clips every week.

  • I admit, I was pretty surprised they got rid of/told the tale of Lancelot so quickly here. I didn't realize how much I missed his character until he came back and it wasn't really him. Merlin's lost a great confidant. His choking up at the end as he sends the second close friend of his away was so sad.

I was also surprised that there wasn't really a happy ending to this episode. Gwen leaves, Lancelot dies, Arthur's miserable, Merlin's grieving and a lot more alone...Hope Gwen returns soon!

  • @xLeavingxMyxMarkx so sad

  • f*cking morgana! You lost all your brownie points that you got for bringing lancelot naked. no more brownie points for you! unless you know... you get gwaine naked for us... *nudge*
