I am working on a carb similar to this one. I saw one video mentioning the main venturi, whatever that is. I have reopened the holes in the screwn that holds on the float but, and have cleaned out any guck I can find. However, I do not have a rebuild kit, so I am just tapping back in the same disk that I took off inside the tub and will give it a try. If I don't have a rebuild kit, do these cleanups help me? Thanks. KK
In the last week I've started for the first time in my life to try and work on small engines. Last night (sep 11, 09) I cleaned a carb like you presented. Thank you. Viewing your video this morning has shown me an error on my part that I can correct before trying to fire the mower up. Having just this a.m. learned of your videos, in the future I'll be searching for your vids before I make anymore attempts on lawnmowers.
wow I never seen this video before. I just rebuilt the one for a 6.5 hp same as that motor carb before the engine died check out the video response bro thanks
hey rick i got a carb just like that and the adjustment screw that goes in the bottom and holds the bowl on snapped in two and plus the floa has a hole in it. so where can i get the replacement parts and about how much if u know
keep in mind-The deep end of to bowl should go opposite the needle and float hinge, the place where to hole is in your bowl was at one time a small indention so that the float will not stick if there is some varnish build up in the bottom of the bowl. Also I always take a little motor oil and rub it around the bowl gasket it gives it a better sill. The air metering needle is finger tight and back off 1 turn the main needle jet in the bottom of the bowl is 1.5 turns out from finger tight.
Rick, in the first vid, I thought I saw an O-Ring around the main jet nozzle that screws into the bowl. I didn't see that on the new main jet, did it not come with the kit?
They are still making parts, another company bought the engine side of Tecumseh, the floats are now plastic, bowls are relatively inexpensive, as are the rebuild kits, which include the welch plugs which redneckrickem was hammering in with a punch. Push the white seat into the carb with a similarly sized punch. If you don't the seat can cock and push into the inlet elbow of the carb. Very good video.
Thanks for the carb rebuild videos! Hope you do a video of the carb bowl patch, carb re installation, and an engine start on the snow blower was it? Anyway~5/5 stars :)

I like the way you explained how to clean the Carburator. I might have to do that on my generator which is difficult to start.

The Bottom needle in the bowl I blow in it and adjust the needle until it just turns off. I can't blow any air then a touch more.
Thank you so SO much for sharing your knowledge.
Peace....Love your accent too.

It doesn't have one. This style of bowl nut has two recessed areas, each with a fuel hole in it.

Nice,do you like Tecumseh?
ChevroletBowtie 3 years ago
No, if you have a tecumseh, and want original parts, get them, cause they are no longer in business. All the plants closed down.
