My first car was a 91 mr2. I just got a 03 mr2 let's hope it has the soul of the 91. It was the best car ever! And the only thing I've ever had was toyotas.
I love this car i have an 87 fully loaded though engine has blown im rebuilding the engine from top to bottom i had the red version of it this one is blue two tone it changes into black. though i do have a question which the car seems odd . it runs at 4200 rpm, 5th gear going 80 can someone tell me if thats normal i need to know to find out if theres something else i should be looking at as far as itgoes theres no turbo its still fully stock.
loved the mr2. i always thought that it was the future car during it's time. after all these years it still looks damn nice compared to them current cars.
@80sfordman Dude, the TR7 has a front engine, and the MR2 obviously has not.
By the way i would not call it a copy, but they used car DNA.
You would not call a "lotus elise" a copy would you, but it is in fact an english car with a toyota celica engine, but it's still not a toyota, just like the MR2 is not a triumph because some lines are similar.
yeah i know ay i hate all new toyotas infact ALL new nissan skyline's, toyota's, honda's i just dont like all the chromed up lights and square front ends and stuff :S i love this mr2 i think it is the best one! i might get one if i can when i get mah lisence
but the first gen's are the better sports cars when compared to the second - they were purer and more Lotus-like in their approach, much like the third. Styling is subjective, but I dig the eighties wedginess.
Hmm... you're probably right. The first is a bit lighter than the second, I imagine, and probably more Lotus-like, but there's just something about the looks of the 2nd gen that I like a lot.
Am i right in thinking someone else nicked this advert: i have a vague recollection of maybe a VW polo or something as a pinball in a pinball game like recently!
and as for the slogan "putting the fun back into driving" - that was nicked by vauxhaul for their shitty wee corsa
I just did a clutch swap at my work on a 1986 MR2 non turbo. Not too hard of a job and the car drove real good for 180,000. It was a customer car so I didn't drive it hard but I'm sure it could be fun!
I didn't know they had a commercial for the first gen MR2, The only commercial I saw for the car, was one for the 2nd gen and back then they(Toyota) had the slogan "Ilove what you do for me"

I dont want to get my hopes up, but the new SCION FR-S looks pretty good. Though I am disappointed that toyota didn't go it alone.

@rwdplz1 How does a little wing changes! I'm total agree with you, with the wing it looks like a decent import but without it looks a cheap coupe...
