The longer Azzolini dwells on these works by Vivaldi the more vivid a world he seems to be revealing. Before hearing him on his bassoon in recent years, I was perfectly content to not notice this instrument. I wonder how I could have lived so contentedly wihout it. And then: browsing through the other bassoonists at YouTube, I realize that if Azzolini died- and his recordings disappeared- I'd be quite contented to return to a bassoon-less life. Great post... I hadn't heard this before!
@VelikyUstyug1 Great comment indeed. Pozdravlayu vas. Azzolini staggers me as well. He really vivifies these Vivaldi concertos unlike anyone else on YouTube - almost to point of baroque surrealism.
@Jalapablo Thank you. what I think is 'surreal' is how incredibly boring, predictable, and inexpressive we have grown accustomed to hearing music like this played. Sergio Azzolini dusts off the plastic wrap and the 'objectivist' veneer and allows these pieces to scream. Art should be 'surreal' for life is.
Great Vivaldi's Bassoon Concerto performance! Thanks (ขอบคุณครับ - Thank you words in Thai).

The player has to be the Yngwie Malmsteen of the bassoon!

As much as I like Azzolini and the whole new approach to Early Music performances, I think this is a little too extreme...

Bellisimo concierto, una pieza musical que jamas habia escuchado, me parece increible que sea de Vivaldi.
Gracias por ampliar mis conocimientos musicales.
