if you have the lights on glass its going to block the uvb rays alil, switch to a screen top and dont feed him crickets in the cage since he's way to young to have sand in there, a repti-carpet would be perfect for a juvi. But overall i like the setup bro
Please take out the sand till the beardie is at least 1 year. When my beardie was younger i did not listen to people tell me to not put sand in the tank, and Davey almost died because of it.
Anyways, nice tank! I have Davey in a 120 gallon tank, which is the perfect size for a beardie in my opinion. lol
This is not supposed to be a hate comment I was just wondering because I am get a bearded dragon and are babies allowed to be in a 40 gallon breeder? I hear a lot of people say no they are not the best hunters but what if I put in a few objects?
you definatly need a bigger tank ... well at least from what it looks like, how many gallons is that?? you should have AT LEAST a fourty gallon breeder but a 55 gallon and up is reccomended
If you want to add a even more natural look, you can try replacing the carpet with a nice looking flat rock, that will also keep his nails trim. Good looking beardie!
It's good that u've gotten a uvb light but uvb rays will not penetrate through glass, so the glass you have up there is preventing him from uvb which he needs.
He should not be on sand before a yr. old, the risk of inpaction is to high.
Should be eating 20% green 80% crickets dusted 5x/week w/ calcium powder, 2x week w/ a multivatamin such as herptivite.
Don't wanna go on because I know you know a lot of this, just want the best for your dragon.
I'm not sure about hemp as a substrate, I have not heard of people using it.
The most common substrates I've seen for juveniles is tile and "Repti-carpet"
When your dragon is 1 yr.+ most people keep the tile or switch to playsand you'd find at home depot.
It is still smart to keep a tile in the aquarium to feed your adult on though as it lowers the risk of impaction even though it happens a lot less w/ adult dragons.
Ok First Of All You Need To Move The Tank Away From The Window Near Sunlght. The Glass Of The Tank Can Magnify The Heat And Potentially Burn Your Bearded Dragon Or OVerheat Him.
Okay man not trying to screw over your set-up but your gonna need a bigger cage when the Dragon Grows. You CANNOT have the Infarred light on at night although most reptiles are blind to it Bearded Dragons are not. Even though they can sleep threw it, it can mess w/ there night hours and screw up there night/day clock and cause alot of stress. That needs to go. Just be prepared to buy a bigger tank.
Look at my videos my Dragon is in a 40 gallon breeder. Any expert would tell you a 55 is minimum for a single Dragon. I think i'm going to get a 75 gallon and put two in there.
Umm lucky your name makes up for your mistakes. You cannot keep a full grown Bearded Dragon in a 30 gallon tank ever. A 40 gallon doesent even leave it enough room to move around in but a 30 gallon it wouldent be able to turn around.
Hey ur videos are awsome, i have a custom tank and the measurements are 44(L) x 21(D) x 15(W)
Will this be ok to keep 1 beardie in for life, ive been researching on them for about a year. and i think i know everything possible, so i think its time 2 buy 1.
I know that people say the minimum should be 4 x 2 x 2, but will a few inches here and there affect his life and stress levels ?
to be honest, your going to get mixed opinions about it. If you handle your beardy everyday and let him out of his/her cage often, they wont get stressed and can live in a 40 gallon breeder. Your tank seems to be long enough and deep enough, however, the only probably you might have is width. Beardys love to be able to turn around and move about the tank. You'll be fine with one in that cage just make sure you handle them often. dont buy 2 for that one tank though, thats too much.
that sand sux bro XD gets everything all dusty i hate it but that's just my opinion XD i used to had it and then i moved up to bigger sized grains of sand XD
The UVB light I had from a previous fish tank, while the day lamp and the infered light was about 45 bucks totally, including the bulbs. The cover came with the cage.
nice setup im working on mine i got a 75 gallon tank and friday im tryin to get a stand for the 75 gallon hard to find but i need a better uvb light how much was urs ??? the light and the cover ?
