Does it matter if the lines are vertical, or can they be horizontal? Mine are horizontal, mostly a light blue colour, but the tint depends slightly on the colour the screen should be. I have an Nvidia. The computer itself is an HP laptop.
The fix is useless. I got the free repair also, and mine failed again a year later. Now Dell is trying to charge me to fix it. I spent 955 dollars on my XPS M1530, and refuse to put anymore money towards it. I am considering legal action if Dell won't fix it for free, give me a refund, or a replacement laptop.
well i have a toshiba satellite laptop..same problem..but when i go to safe mode the problem dissappears..i dunno what's the problem,is it the hdd or graphic card?
I had 11 times the mother board exchanged for the very same reason on the very same laptop. It is the graphic card that can not support the good screen. Overheating problems too. If you put Win 7 the drivers will start correcting them self but it is a very frigile laptop and you can not trust that it will work when you want. Good Luck to every body with this problem! NVidia are paying to Dell for the fault.

Not the GPU, it's the connection from the internal VGA to the array of pixels on the screen.
GPU/GDDR failures look much more digitalized and generally don't show up without a GUI initialized.
