When he's got the blade to her throat, the look on her face just says "Oh yeah, look at you workin' that blade" makes me crack up every time...I also laugh when she dies...is that bad?
Well, Sweeney Todd is killing people and they need to do something with the body's and, at the time, the price of meat was very high and not allot of people had much money so Mrs. Lovett had the idea to use the people Todd killed in the pies.
when they are dancing and spinning around Todd is holding the knife close to Lovett's neck but then he's holding it at her waist then back to her neck lol =p
It's because they take lots of different shots of each scene so in one they had Johnny Depp holding it at the neck and in the other at the waist and when they switch through the shots you can see the change.
i know this was like the best movie ever made, but have you noticed that tim burton always has Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter or one or the other in all of his movies. it would seem that he likes those two a bit much
ahhhh this movie is so good i cnt even stand it! tim burton is SUCH a genius and johnny depp is just AHHHHHHH! i cant think of a better way 2 describe him lol. helena is sososososo good 2. its rly clear that shes not in this movie because her husband directed it....shes a damn good actress! and singer 4 that matter.
it´s obvious, that he grabs her with the cleaver in his hand, but watch the closeups during the dance: the cleaver is behind er neck. then the full bodyshot: she cleaver is near her hips...
thaaaat´s a mistake...in a Tim Burton movie^^ shocking:P
i love that johnny has such a smokey voice... and then helen has like a like a lemony flavor to it... *giggles* i love listening with my tongue! this movie always makes me hungry =P
For me the best musical ever is Jesuschrist superstar I have never seen any stage version of any musical, but hell! I`ve seen a lot of movie musicals and I love them. Cabaret and all that jazz are my favorites, also Moulin Rouge. I love the musical of The Phantom of the opera, love its word, love its music, but i HATE THE MOVIE.
god that song is so awesome, johnny and helena were born from these roles, they're the perfect strange couple , burton was so right to cast them !!! x parfait!
if you wrote this in english and only speek german you did really good just diffrent forms of the words like their, there and they're or to two and too stuff like that =]
i LOVE this movie its a little emo/goth concept but its realy great. i think its awesome with the ending its so shocking that that old begger had a real role no i didnt spoil but did say what i thought xD
LOL! In the weeks leading up to its premiere, I often semi- seriously offered to let my mom come with me to see it (She loves musicals), but seeing the trailer for it when we saw 'Beowulf' was enough to convince her that it wasn't a movie she'd want to see.
I love the part where he pulls her over to the widow kinda holding her han i think this is the moment where he actually does love mrs lovett =] But i hate the ending its so sad!
The scene is so awesome! At the end where they say anyone at all theyre sposta be singin together lol all you can here is johnnys voice lol. But where helena says we have shperds pie pepperd with actuall sheperd on top is so funny!
Johnny and Helena did a wonderful job here! What I like the most about this whole dancing scene is the way they exchange glances, like two accomplices who are delighted to have finally discovered each other. There's a really nice and discrete touch of sensuality and chemistry between them, and this is probably the only moment in the whole story where we can actually see Todd showing some admiration for Lovett and appreciating her as a woman and a "bloody wonder".
There are 3 versions of Sweeny available. Angela Lansbury's is ok, the George Hearn/Patti Lupone concert version is my personal favorite - Neil Patrick Harris makes a fabulous Toby, and then the movie. The movie is missing several songs and has shortened others. Nothing wrong with that; I really liked the movie, but you should know the music is different depending on the version you ask for. :)
I feel sorry for you. I got to see it and I'm only 12yrs. Of course my dad took me and I saw it with him and my bff. It's ok, a little graphic but I love it
Aww, come on! it's been on Broadway for years! there's only a bit of blood, a really tiny bit! You have to have blood in Sweeney Todd! But it's really not that bad, really...*giggles*
Pretty much. I mean, I don't know whether it's big in foreign countries or something, but in America, generally the people who use it are using it "Britishly", so to speak. You know, putting on the accent or joking about it. Generally, it's a British thing.
He swoops in as if he's going to kiss her, then sorta holds her with the cleaver to her THROAT as he speaks of revenge, then they start ballroom dancing with their designated tools...
I've never seen the stage version of Rent - is it any good? I enjoyed the movie version. I also enjoyed Phantom, Chicago, and Moulin Rouge. Hairspray was pretty good too.
Oh lord, my friend is OBSESSED with that bloody musical. I haven't seen Wicked but I'm afraid to mention it around her because she would start ranting about it at 110wpm (words per minute).

So sane Ben. Barker was good with Lucy... insane Sweeney good with Lovette....
But personally I like that they are holding their designated tools more then cutting back and forth (Sweeney with a sharp clever and Lovette with the rolling pin) haha brilliant
I LOVE THIS SONG! It is so dark, but it's so upbeat and happy! Stephen Sondheim is a genius, as well as Helena and Johnny! (Oops, cannot forget Tim Burton! Well done!)
I know they're going for "subtle" and "gloomy" in this adaptation, but I think they could have smirked or given each other amused glances just a bit more when they sang about the politician. Eh, whatever, the humor was still there, I think. Bravo!
I find it slightly ironic and strange that this movie came out around christmas...Merry Christmas, have a pie!
