@AmericanMarxist Correct. The Spanish revolution could be said to have begun in 1931 when the monarchy was sent packing. The left then tried to implement democratic change but was blocked by reactionary landowners and the church. Ultimately the ruling class were so desperate to stop peaceful change they got the very reactionary army to mount a violent armed insurrection. The amazing courage, vitality and unity of the Republicans should continue to inspire all progressive mankind!
