The raiders defence actually got worse after Schweigert left,in 2008 they gave up 300 yards more than in 2007, and a whopping 1000 yards more than in 2006. So in fact letting him go has been pretty shitty for the raiders.
In his rookie year, he put up 52 tackles (43 solo, nine assisted) and three pass deflections. The following year, he improved to 87 tackles (70 solo, 17 assisted), seven pass deflections and two interceptions (against the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs).
In 2006, he improved even more by putting up 107 tackles and four pass deflections. In 2007, Schweigert was injured and only recorded 69 tackles , four pass deflections and two interceptions.
GOD I WISH he woulda did some of that shit for the raiders..cuz sucked ass and stayed gettn burned...and he was a safety safetys should not get burned but he just was just no good when he came to oakland yea he had that big hit on tony gonzalez but thats about it ....overall he was a bust.
Yeah, after he left, the raiders never ever got burned anymore. In fact they didnt even concede a passing touchdown. they went on to win the superbowl with a 19-0 record.
Im kidding obviously. Dont blame Stu so much, raiders were a shit team. They still suck even he left.
thats all he is worth. he cant become a starter no longer. raiders were the only team that gave him a chance to start and become the next great one... but after bad mouthing his only team that give him chance adn then gettting released, i doubt he will ever become a starter again. unless an injury occurs..
you think he suckss?!?! and you could do thiss?? why dont we see you on sports center sunday football or monday night football??!? mhm rightt.. GO UNCLE STARTTTT!!!
Gibril isn't worth the contract he signed, I'm a Giants fan and have watched him for years. He's good don't get me wrong, but definitely another bad contract by the Raiders.
Michael Huff, Stanford Routt, and Fabian Washington (when he was there) were all nice players, but they're inexperience made each other falter. No one balanced anyone out; they need a veteran guy who knows his stuff. Nnamdi Asomungha, who IMO is a top five CB, was helpful, but other than that no.
Schweig now has young and old talent around him, with the likes of LaRon Landry, Fred Smoot, and Shawn Springs in the secondary.
That was with the Raiders. I didn't have that much faith that he could do much there anyway.
They're defensive backfield has been riddled with technique-lacking youngsters, instead of the mainstay veterans who know what to do and excuse in a number of situations.
Ok I get what you're saying. Maybe talent can save him or not, its just that he didn't do as well as we expected him to do in Oakland. But good luck for Stu and you guys.
It's like Steve Young said during a Raiders' broadcast... the Raiders' safeties just aren't very good.
No wonder Schweigert is out of the league. He couldn't even cover an eligible offensive lineman.

@chris371 I still think it's strange he took Woodsons place on the Raiders, and he broke Woodsons pic record at Purdue.

Schweigert is going to be a great safety for the Redskins, because now he can flourish as a player around the talent they have there.
He's very capable in coverage and can hit like a ton of bricks too. 'Skins fans should be happy they acquired him this off-season.

I'm sorry, but have you seen the games he's in with the Raiders?

he CAN'T tackle my grandmother! he cant tackle anybody! he was benched for Hiram Eugene, who sucks too.

He wasn't benched he got injured (back problems), but yeah he does have trouble making open field tackles, that's why we got Gibril Wilson.
DBoy1786 3 years ago
He needs to learn how to tackle because Cooper is a very capable back-up.
