  • When I got my Rover 75 my father said that I will tire of it and get another car one day - Yeah right - I still love my 9 year old Rover 75 a year later. Beautiful drive - unlike other cars I have driven (including mercedes). Class, style, Luxury driving - You have not driven a car so beautifully as a Rover 75. Should still be in production - Labour could have bailed them out to continue making Luxury cars.

Shame - could have been the start of something special in the British Car industry.

  • stunning cars inside and out cant be matched for comfort, the first day i drove it into work one of my workmates said he thought it was the managers car after i parked it up,then i told him it was mine and he asked if he could sit in it,half an hour he was in there.

  • the 75 is a beautiful car it really is.

  • I have a Rover 75 cdti Tourer connoisuer SE and I have to say it is the best car I have ever owned. I have an 04 reg which was 5 years old when I bought it with 56,000 miles for £4300 it would have cost £30,000 when new...dont you just love a bargain!! Pure luxury and its 2.0 BMW diesel engine reported to be one of the most reliable long living power plants ever built will just pur for years. If you are going to buy one keep clear of the 1.8 petrol all the rest are good.

  • I have the W reg 2.5 V6 Rover 75 :) What a joy to sit in that car, drive it. It's a great car no dubt. oh and does 30mpg on motorway and about 22mpg around the city.

  • I much rather the 1998-2004 version in this video than the 2004 facelift version.

    Great video ;)

  • i have just bought a rover 75 Tdi 2.0 Tourer for a stupidly low price.

What a car! 45-60 mpg, comfy, classy and such a nice place to be.

if rover had made all thier cars this well they would still be making them.

  • They are still making them ! ;-)

Btw, the sales where pretty good, it was the direction of the company ... there's a case running now!

The Rover 75 is now on sell as a Roewe 750! Name has changed, cause SAIC corporation didnt bought the rights of the brand ... just the cars.... they do have te rights for mg! They are made in china now .. and the MG TF (l500) is made in Longbridge for the UK and Spaon market! Cya!

  • Well thats all well and good when people keep harping on about them still being made. However - they're not built or sold over here. The Rowe 750 is quite a lot different and the MG 7 is closer to a Rover 75 but uses the MG marque.

For the record SAIC/NAC couldn't buy the Rover marque because BMW retained it, then sold it to Ford who have then since sold it to TATA along with Jaguar/LandRover.

  • @niksomerford

Have you still got the car?

Im waiting for mine to come from the dealer,a 2.0 CDT,and the fuel figures are achievable from what i hear.

Cheap to insure aswell,i was quoted £170 fully comp, and that is LESS than my old pug 306.

  • i own a 1.8 54 plate automatic.she does about 30 mpg.

  • I have to say, at the start of this video where it shows the 75 in Paris, it does look very at home there amongst the glamore and 'smartness' that is Paris. It has aged very well the Rover 75 too! To think the oldest ones are now 11 years old as well? Correct me if thats wrong.

  • Good man Genius83 ;)

Yep the 75 still looks very classy. They don't look out of place when parked next to Jaguar XJs, Bentleys etc etc.

The oldest and very rare 'S' reg ones will be starting to turn 11 years old very shortly.

  • just about to make a deal on a 75 1.8 Turbo 04 model - i just like the shape n feel; olde worlde ol man car notwithstanding!! I think it will be a classic...in time to come but am a tad worried abt the repairs now taht Rover is not around!

  • I have a Rover 75 1.8 classic 04 model. repairs and parts for this are not a problem.

  • I still turn my head when I see one of these...

  • me too. i want one of those, not that piece of shit roewe

  • Excellent video tribute to an amazing car. Just a shame the MkII was'nt present on the video, although the MkI was more representative of the market this car was intended for, the MkII was a last ditch attempt to make it appeal to a wider audience.

The prices of the used cars now, is scandelous, this car, although intended to compete with the X-Type, actually competes with the much better S-Type, and was described as "Bentley-esque" by the motoring press, such was it's high build quality!

  • can someone please tell me how economic this car is in regards to fuel cost?

  • What model variation are you looking at?

  • My Rover 75 Cost me 30 thousand on an 03 plate, and has never let me down.

    75 Best car ever made.

Still have mine, and the value will be high in the future as it is a guaranteed classic, so i will keep it.

Total classic, last of the great British cars.

  • Totally agree!!!I own a 75 CDT Connoisseur SE in Arden Green on a Y plate. I intend to keep mine for a very long time - lets face it - what would I replace it with???? Rover had just come good when disaster struck - It was a massive shame!

  • i love rover and mgs ma mums got a zr 120 + she nearly gt a 45 (the facelift one) and shes had 3 800 series rovers

  • I loved Rovers but the only part of the Rover Business that made a profit after BMW left were MG. To behonest, they should have dropped the Rover brand on all of the other cars except the 75 and used the Rover name as there sort of "luxury division" and made all of the rest of the cars MG's. If they did that then i think there might be a chance they might not have gone bust. Shame

    Gib

  • No offence - but thats total rubbish. MG Rover wasn't split in finances. There wasn't a case of MG making money but Rover not. It was the same company building them in the same factory! Anyway - only 27 thousand ZTs were made. There were nearly 180,000 75s built. The only MG that beat Rover sales was the ZR against the 25 in the full final year of 2004.

True - Rover should have been the Luxury brand (wait it was wasn't it?) but it should have have had the 75 , 75 V8 and a 75 Vitesse.

  • Yer, I was not sure on the financal side of things but making cars like the Rover Metro and the dreaded City Rover did the Rover name no favours. The Rover 75 is a really nice car, one of my mates just brought one and it has such a good ride. And little known fact, the orginal new Mini was completely designed by Rover, BMW just stole it.

  • I agree but the problem is 75's have an old mans imagage even my uncle who helped develop and design it said that but the mg brand sold well and i love the 75.

  • i m from moldova...i have rover 75 black one...it amezing car...alll girls from there it myyyy....so guys go and buy one..u never regret this....rover 75 it the best limuzin car

  • Superb! Well done. The best of the British modern cars. Come back Rover 75 and MG.

  • I am such a big fan of all the modern rover range. I know rover had there problems the same as any other car reall but the main point is that the car was built in britain by britsh. I corrently have a rover 45 but when finances permit i will be straight out after a 75.

I cant believe there gone be built by the chinks. I bet they wont be as good and will lose that great english pub feel.

I would just like to add a great thanks to anyone that worked at longbridge. rip rover

  • Thanks for making such a good video of one of the finest cars ever made and not just in britian. The car of the year 10 years ago and looks like it was designed this morning. I too have a 75 mines a connoisseur 1.8 T.

  • GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

  • Still from a german view its unhappy to see that an traditional britsh brand has left her origin to be sold out in china. XSo much crome and wood inside...my friend grandfathe had bozugt one years ago in britsh racing green, nice car with beautiful interior. His still dring this car every day.

  • i have a v6 75 and have a problem coz wont go into reverse

  • I have a 2.0 Turbo Diesel Rover 75 Connoisseur and can not fault it in any way. Best car I have ever bought. Are you aware that 75's with colour coded sills were built at Longbridge and black sills at Oxford? Longbridge having the better built model.

  • Yep, i have a rover 75 club se, no falts what so ever none!

  • Just taken mine for a 12 month service and inspection...they found no faults at all! Big smiles from here :-)

  • I got a real bargain 18 months ago,I bought one(2ltr turbo deisel) on an 01 plate(2001)for £3000 in immaculate condition and its the best car i have ever driven.

  • Ive got the Club SE, Check my vids to see it!

  • Good promo video with excellent music background. Let down by some clips being shown twice, complete absence of interior shots and no arrival/departure from official duties. Maybe there wasn't enough space inside to get the camera and cameraman!

  • I have Rover 75. It was cost 11000€ and it has no problems. It is great and beatyful car. I just love it. Its ass looks so good that I have kissed it.

  • Its not a BAD CAR!

  • I Love Ford Now For Buying The Rover Name! I Would Of Killed Myself If That Crap Chinese Company Had It!

  • The 75 was the best effort and asset of the company and should have been kept going with mini-mpv versions and extended improved rear legroom on the saloon(the estate was fine for rear legroom);the 25 and 45 were yuk and based on outdated old Honda designs and as for the indian takeaway CityRover that was a load of shite!

  • Excellent cars - useless management - Rover - a great British name - got to 101 years old before the end.

  • Only wish they had been able to produce the smaller 75 based Rover 55 but sadly BMW destroyed all the plans CAD and moulds of the car b4 it jumped ship.

  • I agree with everything that has been said here i am a total Rover Nut the reason MG Rover fauled is because of greedy management taking to much money out and not investing in design and market reseach of new models. The 75 is the best model to come out of longbridge and it could of been the companies saving grace if it had been marketed properly.

  • 2 years ago a got my frst auto express where on the front cover was the 75 and 45

  • I've only one thing to say to Ford, if they listen to what we want; "Bring back Rover"

  • My sentiments exactly! Long live Rover.

  • Oh that is so not gonna happen! Mind would be interesting if Ford did decide to. Thing is, I think Ford only bought the 'name' Rover, so that if someone else did want to bring back Rover cars, they would need to rename them. This was to stop Land Rovers image being tarnished. An uneccesary move in my opinion.

  • Quite a shame the company's gone. The 75 is a beautiful car.

  • Indeed they did! But at time of writing they didn't. HOWEVER SIAC have released pictures of the 'Rowe 750' in which they've altered the interior somewhat and given the car a BMW 7-series bootlid!

  • I've seen pictures of that Chinese car. It looks OK but the original is still the best.

  • Ford beat SAIC to buy the Rover name from BMW excercising its 1st right of refusal, primarily to protect the Land Rover name from abuse by the Chinese.

  • great car poor management same old story.

  • An amazing car, a wonderful song. A fine send off. The 75 is the best car we've had, and certainly the best car to come out of Britain

  • boz has a rover 75

  • Totally outstanding, makes you feel proud, shame the media and the snipers diddn`t aggree. A BLOODY DAMN SHAME

  • Beautiful. Utter class.
