If you like this then you need to hear the recorded versions on a) T-Bird Rhythm and b) the demo version which was released on Different Tacos but which is hard to find now. Maybe it's been released on CD since then, I don't know, but it's worth hunting for!
I loved the original band and saw them 'live but they almost became a joke BEFORE Jimmie left - 'Hot Number' isn't on anyone's list of Best Albums, I'd wager....However, I saw the post-Jimmie band several times in London and they were superb. Kid Bangham stole the show guitar-wise and Kim was on top form with both his singing and playing.
I confess to being less keen on the current line-up but Kim is still an amazing musician.
I'm a diehard Jimmie Vaughan fan...but @rjst, they weren't a joke after Jimmie left...Jimmie stepped away to record with his brother and get sober. Kim Wilson crafted a fine band in later years, showcasing tremendous guitar talent, Duke Robillard, Kid Ramos, Nick Curran, etc. Eventually, Kim would be the only original member...at the same time, he's likely one of the best blues harp players living. I will confess...Christina, Ferguson, Wilson & Vaughan.... was the best FT line-up.
Where's the f*****g sound!!!!
