  • Those crabs are so pretty! I have a video of my 29gallon take on my channel, but I just have purple pinchers.

  • They are so beautiful!

  • Where did you get your Strawberry Hermy?

  • were do you get those type of crabs

  • @HermitCrab152 an a hermie be a mixed breed?

  • Hi I have a question I just got 3 hermit crabs (one is a strawberry) and I just cannot get the temperature to get to 75 deg. F! it is stuck at 72-73. Is that ok? I have a heater although it is a twenty gallon tank so it's difficult to get the temperature up.

  • pretty

  • I have a question: I have a snake, she is 4 years old. And rather big. When she was smaller she had a water bowl. Could I use it for my strawberry herm that's soon arriving? It's about the size of a hand and about an inch deep.

  • Your HUGE corner bowl...I am IN LOVE with it! I have literally searched everywhere for one, my straws need one SO bad for their saltwater bubbler pool I want to make them (they have a saltwater bowl already, but I really feel they need a bigger and deeper one).

So my question is, where did you find that beautiful corner bowl?!

By the way, your crabs are very beautiful :)

  • @yesiamalsohere2 haha it was just at a local pet store sold as a snake corner water bowl :s

  • I have set up my 10 gallon tank for 2 Ecuadorians (by the way, should I get a purple pincher as well since I'm getting very small hermit crabs?) and I have a couple of questions. First, can I use the purified water that you buy at the store for there drinking water? Second, how long will the Ecuadorians live and how big will they get? I'm under 18 years old, but I want to be that weird chick in the room with the 20 year hermit crab later on in life :D

  • @zeezeez901 the best option for drinking water would be distilled water which is a lot cheaper than purified water at a pet store. Make sure to get Oceanic or Instant ocean sea ssalt sold at pet stores to make their salt water which is very essential for Eccies. I'm not sure exactly how long they live but I've had mine for 4 years and they haven't grown to much so I could imagine they live for a long time and they are the smallest species of land hermit crabs.

  • @HermitCrab5 Also deep substrate that the crabs can burry and molt in is essential to their captive survival. You may want to check out the hermit crab association :)

  • @HermitCrab5 I'm all over the Hermit Crab Association! Haha I love that website! I just like going on Youtube, too.

  • @HermitCrab5 Thanks! I heard they had bad molts though... and don't like being handled? Will Ruggies be ok with being handled?

  • Hey, I was just wondering which is better to use for heat a heating pad or a heating lamp? --thanks

  • @kayelkay152 heating pad in my opinion because there's less loss of moisture :P

  • ur a great owner :)

  • @AlexXbox3609 Thank you :)

  • Every one look at my video called hermit crabs on my channel Angor31698754

  • nice coenobita perlatus . i hope they are still alive because this is the hardest species of hermit crab to keep. keep it up!

  • your tank is nice also were do u buy your strawberry hermit

  • somebody plzz help me. for christmas i got 4 strawberry hermit crabs.one of them was about medium size and clearly to big for his shell but he never changed it.he was very shy but he still moved aroung quite abit. one day i picked him up and he fell out of his shell.this was only 3 weeks after i got him.the next day he was dead.now a week later another one is dead. i dont know wat im doing wrong.all i want to no is why their dying??

  • @Abilicous3000 Do you have salt water in your tank? Strawberry hermit crabs NEED saltwater to dunk themselves in. make sure its deep enough for them to fit all the way in, but make sure they dont drown. good luck!

  • @IMAdrummer2468 thank you, i heard of people putting salt water in their tank but i didnt know it was this important. i bought some saltwater yesterday and i will put it in the tank today.thank you so much!!

  • @Abilicous3000 Sorry for the late response. Make sure you know what you are doing before you get a pet is the best advice I can give you... Hermit crabs are very sensitive creatures and tons of problems can occur if you don't research proper care - I'd say substrate depth and pH are most important. Message me if you have any questions.

  • @HermitCrab5 thank you after i left the first comment i have read alot more information about hermit crabs.i also did not have salt water in the beginning but now i do. thank you anyways!

  • @Abilicous3000 Hi, Your Hermit crab might have been sick or stressed, it also may have been trying to molt. Your habitat is set up incorrectly. I did not see a salt water pond, this is crucial to their survival. Without saltwater they cannot molt. They also need cover so that they can dig down to molt. It is not uncommon for a crab to bury itself for 4 or 5 weeks when stressed or molting.

  • @Katana4884 what habitat this isnt my video???

  • What size tank?

  • @FrizzyIzzychicken that tank was like an 18 gallon but they're in a 55 gallon now :D

  • nice straw! The striped fox shell looks nice! My jumpo purple pincher was in one.

  • i have 3 hermit crabz in a 10 gallon tank :) they all have painted shells. but thats bc i felt bad for them. so im putting a whole bunch of naturl shells and also bc the stores i go to... only have painted shells -_- DAM YOU PETSTORES! but can you tell me where i can get the strawberry hermit crabz? bc i rlly want one :) thank u <3

  • @AllThatShimmer96 make sure you really know what you are doing before you get straws. If you want them though I'd go to livehermitcrabs[DOT]com I got my second order from there and was very pleased.... though hermitcrabvendor[DOT]com is excellent to and is where I got the herms in this video which are still alive today.

  • @HermitCrab5 you have a tarantula too ?

  • @HermitCrab5 you have a tarantula ?!

  • @okto1234 Yup

  • alex is so cute thanks for sending his picture

  • i have a hermit crab named "Alex" and i train how to climb in branches he like bread and he's lovely his crawling on my hand all day

  • where u get him/her i wanted one for ever but the pet store neer me said thay will not do special order idk what thay mean by that i was just going 2 give them $20 for a big one XP

  • HELPPPP!!!!! I got 4 hermit crabs like 2 weeks ago and they don't move that much and they don't eat or drink and somthing started to smell bad. I hope their not dead what should I do???

  • @gdogunit12 dead

  • @gdogunit12 their dead. sorry for late info.

  • This video is horse shit.

  • My hermies are painted with ladybug designs :)

  • @paulaslittlegirl101 your an idiot why would you paint the shell

  • ahahaha cute. :P I love my hermiees ♥

  • @paulaslittlegirl101 I like my herms too :] you should really check out a forum like the crab room or the hermit crab association for good care advice!

  • @HermitCrab5 Hey, um well im planning to get maybe 1-3 hermies, how many do you recommend? do they stink? and how much on average did all the supplies cost? Thank you :)

  • @ThatVideoGameGirl123

I recommend 2, the hermit crabs themselves, and for a SMALL set up ~$100. Depends though, be sure and do your research on their care I highly recommend looking at the care information at the hermit crab association, the crab room, and the hermit crab patch. :P

  • i love your crabitat!i have a one gallow in tank i just got them a few weeks ago but i need a bigger tank but i am getting one in a few days!which size do you think i sould get?i have two big hermite crabs.also i didnt know you had to have a 10 galloin tank so we got a small tank but im geting a new one soo ya. can you help me?

  • @campod3 Well, 10 gallons are still kinda small just make sure you have deep substrate that isn't acidic for them to molt in... If they are big, then a ten gallon may not suffice - are they perhaps just large for what you are used to? If they are small then a 1 gallon is a possibility so long as you have deep substrate for them to bury :]

  • wow thats amazing.. nice job. can you comment on my video and give me some ideas?

  • cool crabs where did you get them right now i have 2 purple pincher crabs but i want some strawberry crabs too also can i have a few tips on how to take care of strawberry hermies

  • @hermitcrabexpert123 I have some from the hermit crab vendor and some from live hermit crabs which are both onlineretailers :]

Tips for how to take care of them:

    1. Deep substrate is key, preferably a mix of sand and compressed coconut fiber, in this video I was using pure coco-fiber but it is to acidic.

    2. Access to salt water made with Oceanic or Instant Ocean salt

  • @HermitCrab5 thanks

  • wow they have such beautiful color i just have a regualr hermit crab but i want a strawberry one too!

  • where did you get strawberry hermit crabs

  • @TheBubbalou11 I have some from the hermit crab vendor and some from live hermit crabs which are both onlineretailers :]

  • how do the hermitcrabs get up into the pool?

  • @campod3 They climb up the sides of it... Hermit crabs are very good climbers :)

  • where do you get strawberry ones? just at a pet store with the other ones?

  • @hannahjane5 I looked in pet stores for strawberry herms but couldn't find them so I ordered mie from the hermit crab vendor.

  • @HermitCrab5 oh ok, do they ship them to you? or do they bring it to the pet store or how do you get them?

  • @hannahjane5 well I got them shipped to a store across the Canada USA boarder were I picked them up but if you live in the USA then you can just get them shipped directly to you :)

  • i am getting one next week cant wait hope he will like my other hermit crabs

  • @plad556 congrats on the new herm :) if you have any care questions feel free to ask me :)

  • Where do you get Strawberry hermit crabs????????

  • @sensationaddict69 I got my strawberry hermit crabs from the hermit crab vendor which is an online store :)

  • do these strawberry hermits require any more care than a normal hermit crab?

  • @jlrsmiles they do require a salt water dish they can fully submerge into that is filtered :)

  • Yours are so cute~!! I just got a pair of strawberries, and I'm really new to owning hermit crabs so I'm nervous. About how big do they get, and how fast do they grow? How deep of a pool should I get for the water? I want to make sure everything is right. <3 Thanks, and I love your terrarium. It looks like they've got lots of neat things to climb on.

  • @sweetkaiser Sorry for the delayed response I haven't been cheacking comments on my videos but... They get very large however it takes many many years for them to grow because they only grow when molt. It'll take a good 30 years for a medium crab to become a jumbo :) the pool should be deep enough for the crabs to fully submerge in since they are strawberries. If you have anymore question feel free to ask!

  • why are they called strawberry hermit crabs is it because their body is red but now the shell.

  • @bakubrawler02 I believe they are called strawberries because of there exoskeleton colour :)

  • that pool in the beggining i s made for garter snakes how do expect the to get up the even with wood they are land crabs they could drown

  • @coolecoolcool The pool has to be deep enough for the crabs to fully submerge which is why it is that deep. Crabs are smart they can climb out it is very rigid and they are great climbers :) I have had my three strawberry hermit crabs in there for a long time and they are doing great. They move around that pool and the rest of the tank easily.

  • your crabs are so pretty, they have great color... i have been looking everywhere for a strawberry hermit crab none of the petstores have them...but i love them!

  • oh and they stay in thier shells for ages until they are completely sure i'm no there

lol...when i first spray the tank thy are really hyper!!!

  • hiya...i was just wandering...

how do you get them to become so friendly?

i got mine just the other day and when ever i come in the room they hide in thier shells...so i try to come in slowly...but if i even make the slightest jerky movement ...they hide!

    can you help me out?

  • @reptiboi well if you make slow movements and feed them foods that they love like honey while they are o your hands the wont be as scared, however my violascens hermit crabs are very easily frightened into there shells even after having them for a few years.

  • I have 2 strawberry hermies, 5 purple pinchers, 3 fancy and 1 baby hermie!!

  • hi im just wandering um.. do you know or anyone if i could capture a hermit crab like land hermit crabs from the beach??? plz answer

  • @KoprowskiG119 hiya! You can however it is more then likely (unless you have alot of experiance with hermit crabs) to die. It is far better to buy them from a proper seller who has kept them in the right conditions and brought them from a good source.

  • @alibongo12 ok thank you !! ill prob do that :)

  • OHHH beautiful hermit crabs!!! currently all i have are 1 strawberry..4 purple pinchers..im getting more and a biggertank i cnt wait!!!!!!!

  • i had strawberrys and one ecourdorian but they all died:(

  • Beautiful Hermit Crabs. =]

  • They are beautiful crabs. I have 3 hermit crabs but they aren't strawberry hermit crabs.

Where did you buy the strawberry hermit crabs from?

    Petco does not sell them.

  • I bought mine at The Hermit Crab Vendor, it is an online hermit crab retailer.

  • @veggiedeadhead petco does they just dont always hav them

  • its great to see that there are people that also have nice and good tanks for their crabs =)

  • Strawberries being properly cared for on YouTube? Wow, what a treat!

  • Comment removed

  • hey ! i have 2 straws ! ilove them both cause they are less pinching of your hand and they are friendly too, and oh ! how long is your tank and how many hermies do u have ?

  • @cyszaii I am not sure of the length but it is 18 gallons, and I have about 35 hermit crabs now but only 3 of those are straws.

  • I love your crabitat!! :D Your hermies look really healthy ^_^ You must take good care of them :)

  • @xDolphinsxRockxSocks I think so, I am going to put a new video of them soon to show there colouration change now that they all have molted.

  • and my biggest and most active hermie is a strawberry its about the size of a computer mouse and is fun to watch she is quite the redecorator

  • i like living where i do the pet store always has both strawberry and puple claw hermies i have 3 trawberry hermies

  • cutte xx

  • strawberry hermit crabs are the best and they are so firendly

  • Pr0 here,nid tips ask me...

  • Hi, i got 2 large strawberry hermit, i got them 2 water dish, one of it is rather big, for the salt water, they can fully submerge themselves in it..any more tips for me to take good care of these beauties?

  • I suggest you join thecrabroom also you should make sure your forest bedding substrate is atleast three times the height of your largest hermit crab. You should also use Oceanic brand salt to make your water because it tends to be the best.

  • i have a 15 gallon with lost of substrate coco bedding ans sand and climbing stuff

  • sorry i meant ecuadorian or even a ruggie please help

  • where can i get a strawberry crab or an europian crab i have purple pinchers and i wanted something different

  • I ordered mine from the hermit crab vendor but the shipping was $58 USD and I had to drive across the border to pick them up.

  • Strawberry hermit crabs are more difficult to take care of. They need a deep salt water pool to go into and a higher temperature and humidity. It is an 18 gallon tank.

    Thanks for the comments!

  • awesome!!!!! but aren't they supposed to be a little bit harder to take care of than the regular ones????, strawberries???.any way though, wicked crabs and crabitat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How many gallons is that? Also cool habitat. I was wondering if Strawberry hermit crabs drink salt water?

  • All types of hermit crabs drink and use fresh and salt water, some more than others.

BTW Nice crabitat, and cute hermies! :D

  • Thank you. Well you are right about that for the most part, most hermit crabs require both fresh and salt water -- however the species Coenobita brivemanus only drinks salt water.

  • It is still best to provide both fresh and salt water for all types of hermit crabs.

How do the crabs get into that water dish? Shouldn't it be a little sunk into the substrate? Where are the temperature/humidity gages?

  • The crabs can climb it cause it is rough on the edges. It is also half sunk into the substrate. They are at the top away from the heater.
