As he says that the meanig of jahal is emotional not an illiterate so acording to this man Abu Jehal was not an illiterate or a jaahil as we have been thought by Holy Qura'n or our Islamic books or teachers, It means we were worng from the beginnings. Classical Arabic dictionaries - do not support Dr Israr Ahmed. Neither do most tafsir books.

He had superficial knowledge of Classical Arabic esp. compared to Dr Qadri - who is authority on the subject and a fairly talented linguist.

Wasila has many meanings and applications. With all respect to him, we should take our knowledge from recognised scholars not medical doctor turned preachers. al-Imam Raghib al-Asfahani states:

"Wasīlah means to seek willingly access to something and since it is based on

willingness, it is related to wasīlah, the means of approach." (Rāghib Asfahānī, Mufradāt alfāz al-Qur’ān, p.871)

@ThePakistanAirForce - Actaully Dr israr shows utter lack of arabic knowledge - even 1st yr maddrassa students of dars e nizami know that waseela is masdar and that as the baab change so do the meanings.

check any arabic dictionary even no-classical ones like hans whr and meaning is not what dr israr says.

its means of becoming nearer to a thing. Means being the key here. So the primary meaning of waseela is not qurb but means (access) to qurb.
