Danzig Legacy: Samhain - Intro, Samhain, and All Murder All Guts All Fun

I like Danzig, but I can't help laughing at this get-up.

Ironically... this "Machine" character is shown having numerous posters of the band "Danzig" on his bedroom wall when Nicholas Cage has his final confrontation with him. Again, this is a VERY disturbing movie... but also a VERY real one... and very creepy for that matter. Worth checking out.

Actually... now that I mention it...

Another strange irony is that Glenn looks quite similar to the "Machine" character in the 1999 movie "8mm" as he wears that bizarre looking mask. If I am not mistaken... the whole idea for Glenn forming Samhain in the first place was to be more serious, darker... and perhaps... more "sadistic" than the "comic bookish/ B-Horror movie-themed" Misfits.

It should also be noted that Glenn is also shown wearing a very similar kind of mask the music video for the song "Sadistikal" from the 1994 Danzig 4 album. Also... If you have ever seen the 1999 movie "8mm" starring Nicolas Cage (which is a very disturbing murder movie about "snuff films")... the main villan/ evil character of the movie (who is called "Machine") is seen wearing an S&M mask to conceal his identity as he murders his victims.

@slantyrock Perhaps the reason you're laughing at his "get-up" is because you might not understand it. Although I will also be the first to admit that it does look rather bizarre, the mask that Glenn is wearing was the one that he wore during his Samhain years (1984 - 1986). There are also a FEW videos out there (mostly on youtube) that show him wearing this same mask in his latter years with the Misfits. It's most likely a sadistic S&M mask... meant to be just that... SADISTIC!!

@VredesStall Yeah, I saw him wearing the mask in an old Samhain vid, but I would have thought he would have dropped it for this day in age, it seemed ok at the time, but looks a bit silly on him now.

Well if it is... I would say that it's no more "silly" then Glenn or Doyle sporting a Devilock in nod to their days in the Misfits.... which Doyle (and Jerry) still do... and even Glenn from time to time. Wether it's a devilock for the Misfits... or some sadistic S&M mask (and/or a "bloodshow") for Samhain... It's just part of the iconic imagery that we all know & have come to expect at Misfits/Samhain/Danzig concert... and they certainly wouldn't be the same without them.
