my honest oppinion is that its good , but the person who plays tracy looks much older than how old tracy is supposed to be . tracy is supposed to be a teenager .. that person looks about 30 . just saying . and it wouldnt hurt her to get some singing lessons while shes at it . because honestly my oppinion is her voice sucks . you dont have to agree with me , thats just my oppinion .

After seeing this, and recently seeing it in Sydney as well as the movie you can see how the music is similar but the interpretation is different (costuming and set) its wonderful that the story for both this and Sydney appear to be the same as well as the arrangements (sound like the movie but same arrangement from Broadway). Sydney uses video screens throughout the production and very little "live" sets with all this modern technology it is amazing :D

The entire cast looks too old in my opinion...isn't Tracy only 17 at the oldest? The majority of the cast is supposed to look like they're in high school and they all look like they have kids in high school. There are plenty of younger looking actors in New York, I'm sure. But hey, maybe that's their interpretation. It's still great.

@Esorassen They were all in their very early 20's at the time except for the people who played the adults. The people who played the kids are all in the late teens and early 20's. Constantine Rousouli, Link Larkin in this video, is about 26. I saw him in the tour back in March of 2008 when he was 22 and I met him when he was 23. They hire actors that are in their early 20's usually to play teenage characters. A lot of shows do that.

@justkelley15 yes their supposed to be that but a lot of casting directors always hire a little bit older than that age for the most part. Maybe it has something to do with experience and vocal strength. I don't know.

Broadway usually is better. I was devastated by the movie. Hairspray was the first touring Broadway cast I saw (I think I saw them in 04) and I thought it was the funniest, funnest, most touching musical. Then they ripped it up by just putting a bunch of big names into it. And I agree, Mama I'm A Big Girl Now was one of the best songs! Why would they get rid of it?

I also hated the whole "cheating" scenario. It was just...too much.
