The idea of a devil is a bizarre one. He seeks to wrought evil but can only do so much with his power. God on the other hand, has unlimited power and yet allows such evil to not only exist but to spread like a disease. That inaction is so far more malevolent than anything the devil could ever do. The devil at least does not pretend to be good.

he said what would be the worse thing for a doctor/pyscologist can do to her own patient. what he wanted to do was make her kill him or he will unleash hell and by killing him, she believes in the devil because she did it.

I love the sinister atmosphere of this movie. Very dark and mysterious; it gives me the chills:) Jeff's performance is outstanding. I think he's very convincing and, well, I can't help it, very sexy too:)

I bought a 2nd hand DVD of this movie and will get it tomorrow; I am very happy with that. Especially since it seems to be kind of a curiosity....?

I have it on VHS and can find NOWHERE validating that it was released on DVD. I've seen a VHS going for over $100.00, and I can agree that it's worth the price, BUT....I'm not wealthy, am 80 years old, and would love a DVD before....well, you understand! Thanks & aloha

@nananui I bought the dvd from someone in Holland (I am Dutch myself), and it's a Dutch release too. There are still some people who sell the movie (it's via the Dutch bol.com website). So, I could order one for you if you want, but ofcourse then you will still have the region-code problem (my region is code 2, yours is code 1, it will be very likely that your dvd-player cannot play it).

I forgot about the regions problem and now I will simply resell it! I wrote to a Dutch boy during WWII and felt so sorry; his former fields were huge bomb craters. My granddaughter and her husband LOVE to visit Amsterdam! Goldblum in "Adam Ressurected" is a phenomenon and much-admired privately. Thanks again & aloha!

This is one of the greatest under-rated films, the one even makes Silence of the Lambs, a walk in the park or Sunday school!  The sheer terror without any particularly gore or violent scenes.
