Right click the game.

go to options of game type in that little entry bar '- console'

and then when ur in game the pause menu must have a grid, in there type

'Cl_cmdrate 1'

to reduce ping xD

@neonstrike It's possible to get games work for mac and linux but they don't work well if they aren't made to work. I guess that even the best mac doesn't run well hl2 on highest settings (what's pretty old game now) expect if valve would make it work
