he was 68 back in 2000 - so that makes him 78 now - i played with him in 2000 when he was in Tokyo, along with the tabalchi and the guitarist, and that is what i was told.

He was 83-84 when he played in Qatar, about 4-5 years ago. His wife was with him too. She was around 80 ...

@notnapster sorry u'r right - he was 78 then not 68! Where in Qatar are you based? Doha/Wakrah or Mesaieed? My parents lived there for 23 years, and I did for 3 yrs.

Yeah, he is 91 years old now (in 2010). Not sure when this was recorded, but I suspect only a couple years ago at most.
