I think Inspector Lewis, Inspector Barnaby, DCI Hunt and Sherlock Holmes are absolute winners and I adore all four (espically Gene and Jeremy Brett's version of Holmes =) <3)
I have to say Barnaby is my favourite but I like them all equally.You can't really compare as they are all differing in style and manner,yet all brilliant sleuths!

Great choices Charlotte - I would have placed Morse number one obviously, but all my favourites were there. I agree with your Top Three too:)
