  • Outstanding clips,,just outstanding

  • Thanks very much, Perfect conditions for steam that day.

  • Very good indeed. Not like the usuall rubbish on here. Thank You.

  • Thanks very much, that was a great day for filming steam, bitterly cold and no wind.

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • Cheers, I'll never forget that day as it was bitterly cold, great for smoke effects though!!

  • Excellent gretat sight and sound well captured. I think you can still get HQ if you type " &fmt=18 " in after the web address.

  • Thanks very much Joe, glad you liked it.

  • Cheers, glad you enjoyed it.

  • top stuff matey 5*

  • I'm not criticising it, by the way, I wouldn't want you to think that. It sounded a bit of a back-handed compliment, saying the sound was the important part, but you know what I mean.

  • Shame I've never yet been able to watch anything in HD, as I've never been able to get anything to load. Do you need to download anything new to get it to work? It would be nice if the 'High quality' option was still available for those who can't get HD to work. Still, it doesn't really matter, as it's the sound that really counts on this one.

  • I agree it would have been better if the 'high quality' option was still available. I'm sorry you haven't been able to watch in HD. A high speed broadband connection is essential I believe.

  • **Update: HD now works. I can confirm that it was worth the wait.*

Thank you, you can carry on.

    :P

  • Thanks very much, it's been a long wait, can't wait to get filming again!!!

  • As a matter of interest, is that 30fps or 60fps?

    Kind regards,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike, the original file was converted with Divx at 30fps.

  • Excellent video mate, I planned on going to see that but didnt get to do it, but you also chose the two locations I was going to do so I can see what I missed now. Wish I had been able to go!!

  • Thanks, it was a great day for filming. I had looked at at couple of PSOV videos beforehand to find suitable spots. Glad you liked it.

  • Yes mate I noticed from the forecast that the weather was perfect. I remember that on the saturday it never stopped raining which was one of the things that put me off. On the sunday I got up feeling really ill as well which didnt help. Glad you saw it though mate, a fine bit of filming!

  • Is that on the freight only line?

  • No, Dove Holes is on the Buxton to Manchester line but Peak Forest is freight only

  • Thank you very much, it must be very nice to fire your own engine on the mainline. I use a Rode Videomic with what they call a 'dead cat' windsock!

  • Great Quality all round Austin. I don't think Mr Riley was paying for the coal that day, but a feather of steam from the safety valve is one in his cap! This is how it should be done, great planning, pointing and the all important sound quality. Do you have a good windsock for the less tranquil days?

  • Great vid Austin.

  • Many thanks, glad you found it enjoyable.

  • Bit of a gradient coming up through Dove Holes! Excellent video. A+

  • Thanks very much, yes, a little bit of a hill to give the fireman something to do!!

  • Wow, top quality video. Thanks for the tip to get the almost-HD version. It makes a difference! The shot through Dove Holes is fantastic. Hope the cloud of smoke didn't damage your camera.

  • Cheers, the camera is still ok, the smoke added to the atmosphere I think.

  • Another cracker, you always seem to plan well ahead and pick the spots where you know the loco will be working its hardest. 5*

  • Thanks, I had been looking at some old PSOV videos for some inspiration. Got to Dove Holes two hours early to 'reserve' my spot!

  • You made the most of the conditions there. Thank you for sharing - superb!

  • Thank you, the cold still air is perfect for steam photography.

  • Very nice audio! Love the sound of that chuff.

  • Thanks very much, I'm using a Rode videomic at present.

  • That opening sequence is a cracker, i understand Mr Riley was on the shovel on the way out, bet he's got arms like popeye now !

    Thanks for posting, Matt.

  • Thanks Matt, yes I saw the comment on the forum re the crews, he was obviously intent on provding a bit more clag than the other guy in the Peak Forest shot!

  • Austin, that's the best video I've seen on Youtube, the quality, following your instructions is unbelievable!!..that new camera is superb..I'm lost for words, which doesn't happen often..5*plus..Bob

  • You're too kind Bob, but for me,a certain video featuring 46115 has to take any 'best video' prize.

  • Oh OK then, but yours is the best quality by far...Keep them coming...Bob

  • 5* vid Austin. The climb to Dove Holes station looks great. Mike

  • Thanks Mike,it more or less carries on where your first shot ended. been waiting a long time for conditions like we had yesterday.
