Great ending btw, and very original idea. Reminds me of my late gradfather... he was a grumpy old sod who always stayed at home and never came to visit us. Harry makes me remember him...
@Tomthetrainfan I like Leo, im not the mystery juge but i'd rank him hgher on character. Littleconfession when your Leo vid cam out i was sufficiently impressed i modelled him in OO, now he's running alongside Harry. :P
Man, this is a good movie. I wish Harry was saved. I think I'll have him on my heritage railway once I get a renumberable Trainz B12/3. I hope nohbdy minds.
@Nictrain123 Not at all. Although, might be difficult. 61415 is the number for a B13. I just used the number cos i had footage of 61415 and they look broadly the same from the back. So it might be difficult to get b12 61415.
@trainlover657 I really wish somebody had preserved an F5. Or at least one type of GE suburban tank. They would be perfect for most preserved railways now.
@trainlover657 I would say hornby probably. They have the most adaptable tooling for basic tank engines. Still, it won't b finiished for a while so anything could happen.
@jamiegoddard4 Yeah, and a Claud Hamilton 4-4-0. They were smart little engines in their heyday, and it's a shame the only one set aside was cut up by accident.
@TheClaudHamilton I so wish we had one, if only because it would look good at the stops at Liverpool Street, still shows you should always label things properly. I've build a D16 for my layout though, so i can at least get a flavour of the originals.
That was an epic opening sequence. The "Blackadder" theme really suited it; told you all you needed to know about what sort of engine Harry was: pompous, scathing and arrogant; just like Edmund Blackadder himself.
All that, plus using "Silent Night" when you revealed he'd been cut up perfectly bookended this piece.
ah, thank you so much. Its nice to know that peopl are picking up on some of my references.
Originally i actually found footage of the real 61415 being cut up, i was gonna just use that and not have a closing section. But i couldn't convert it to digtal use in time for the deadline. But you're right, sillent night was i thought, a nice way to finish up.
@thomasyourtheleada1 I think the real 61415 was cut up at darlington works in the north of england. And the date in 1958 may be a tad early, but it suited the storyline to 1958.
Yeah, Harry isnt the last B12. 61572 was withdrawn in 1961. As i said, 61415 was cut up in mid-1958 along with most of the B12's. I tried to create an alter ego, and another B12 seemed both to fit the bill and have a lot of back story to use. A claud hamilton didn't fit the bill and an E4 was impossible to film with.
A very lovely story and a great perfomance in the actual speical...

@jamiegoddard4 Yeah, good point about the number, considering that B12s were numbered from 61500 to 61580 in BR days.
Mind you, that doesn't include 1506 - that engine was wrecked at Colchester at only a few months old.

Harry's voice reminds me a lot of Coleman's (the Butler) voice from the 1983 movie "Trading Places."
KingofTomedy 2 years ago
I suppose it does. Mind you, i didn't make myself sound posher for Harry. I toned down for the narrator.
