what a crappy comment. Perhaps Sun Jun got injured even though I don´t think so. He got tired, theres a big difference. Besides that Peter Rasmussen went all the way to the final and proved that when he was fit he was one of the absolut best playders. The reason why he didn´t win much more than the WC is simple - he was injured very often. Furthermore you can´t compare 1997 with 2010 - not in any sports. All athletes improve in pace and fysical condition.
i would like to tell axesmill that this is the longest match ever played in the history of badminton and today if lin dan or any other player in this world is asked to play a 2 and a half hour game with a tough opponent like peter if he still has that much of stamina then today's badminton player dont stand a chance.....they will break down after 1 hour of play!!...that is why old badminton is considered the game played physically and mentally but today only power of the smash matters..

In badminton cramping does not allow you injury time outs because it is caused by lack of fitness. Rasmussen is well known for having been the fittest player of his time. He ran Sun Jun into the ground which is something that almost never happens, it's impressive not lucky.

However, in spite of this he still managed to win 2004 Euro champs by beating Kenneth Jonassen and contributing to Denmark's Thomas Cup winning over Simon Santoso. I would point out that your knowledge of the game is limited to what you've seen on television while I have personally met most of the players you admire.

@lg123xyz The fact that you disparage the Euro champs shows me that you don't know high level badminton, and that you yourself have never played at a level beyond recreational. Peter's reputation amongst his high level peers is one of the best, and those who have played at that high level know how impressive he was as a player, and is still as a person. Do you know how hard it is just to win a match at Euro champs?
i dont think they would stand a chance with that kinda play at this time of year.. see lin dan and chong wei, fast game n power play.. these are the days where they still play that 15-point game.. it changes the pace altogether...
