  • Anyone remember that when you bought the album 'Wear it's at' there was a paper Rubettes hat inside the album????? God knows why I like his group but I do.

  • This was a great song because it was written by John and Alan and not Bickerton and Waddington.

  • slick stuff

  • The 70s is my era and this song has to be my fave 70s song - lots to choose from but if I could only choose one it would be this one. I had a 70s fancy dress party for my 50th birthday and I had this song played for my last song for a smooch with by hubby - roll on my 60th

  • Nice bit of guitar from Tony Thorpe.

  • Höre die Rubettes seit dem ich musik höre..Kann sagen das sie in ihrem album "Somtimes in Oldchurch"...für mich eines der besten alben aller zeiten produziert haben...grossartig...:))))

  • Brilliant song from a brilliant band. Most people only remember them for Sugar Baby Love but they were so much more than that.

  • Love The Rubettes & I'm 15. 5 *****!

  • A couple of years ago Tony Thorpe was a music tutor at Blackburn College. Don't know whether or not that's still the case.

  • Yes it still is

  • real live music

  • In those days, bands appearing on Top Of The Pops had just 4 hours to re-record the backing track.

This superb performance gives you some idea just how talented the musicians in the band actually were.

The lead vocals on this record (and 'You're The Reason Why) were supplied by Tony Thorpe though Alan Williams sang the lead melody line in the chorus.

  • qwandao, you said it.

  • Love the Rubettes very much, but when they're singing country, they're superb.

After more than 30 years, everytime I hear it, it still touches my heart.

  • Ben ik helemaal met je eens !!

  • used to sing this on the bus home from school xx luv them rubettes blokes xx

  • Had The Lead Singer changed ?

  • The lead singer on Sugar Baby Love was the guitarist on the left with the orange shirt on.

  • - that`s not right actually. Although Allan Williams is the band`s lead singer ( but not on this song ) Sugar Baby Love their first hit and #1 was recorded in the studio using session singer Paul Da Vinci on lead vocals. When the song became a hit everyone assumed the band`s singer Allan Williams was singing the hit. He wasnt , it was Da Vinci.

  • Just to clarify, the melody in the chorus of 'Baby I Know' was slightly out of Tony Thorpe's range. On the record Alan Williams sang the lead line.

The source of that info is the band themselves.

  • Great stuff from underated group oldstuffs the best

  • 32 years ago but the song sounds sweet just the same. Thank you very much for the video !!!!

  • 19 éves voltam akkor és szerelmes ... kell ennél többet mondanom? :))

  • I think this song is superb, remember it back in the 70's. Excellent harmonies, the dogs bollocks; a very underated group, though some songs were a bit popsical. I can listen to it over and over

  • excellent!
