  • The music is Beethovens "Moonlight Sonata" and while it truly is a beautiful piece of music, it wasn't a part of the 1956 Doris day film "Julie".

  • @brickpaverr Yes, you are correct. I put the two together .. he's a pianist in the movie and the song has a dark tone to it ... thought it was an interesting match up.

  • Oh my god Doris looks like a model in these pictures! :D

  • @MMfan1997 She was beautiful ... no doubt about it. And he was pretty good lookin' too !

I thought they looked really good together. Of course - in the movie he's trying to kill her ...but in these pictures they sure look great ! He lived across the street from her for years and they were good friends.

    So happy you enjoyed !!

  • @Dayniac4324 I think he was handsome and I knew that they lived across the street from each other!

  • @MMfan1997 I think they looked great together. Almost a mirror image - him dark her blonde. Somre really great photo's of them.

  • Dedicatedt o the formation of LUNA STAR a non profit corporation to provide affordable community base student housing. LUNA STAR Commune..

  • They look wonderful together, the song is so sensitive. Thanks for the lovely pictures

  • @dorine1240 They really do look marvelous together !! And I love this song. Really happy you enjoyed ! Hope you have a great weekend !!

  • @dorine1240 This song is hauntingly beautiful. The arrangement and Doris`s vocals are brilliant !

  • @MrRocky9000 It really is a great song from Doris - really love it too. So happy you enjoyed !!

  • Do you have the song Doris performed called ` I Speak To The Stars` from the movie `Lucky Me` ? The movie version of that song is better than the studio version she recorded later. When she sang that song in the movie, her voice was gloriously rich and beautiful. Please post it if you have it. Thanks for all your wonderful Doris Day videos too.

  • @MrRocky9000 I do have that song .. not sure about the version from the movie. I'll look at what I have and try to get it posted. Thanks!!

  • Lovely! Thanks for posting it. The sog is based on Beethovens Moonlight Sonata which is fitting since Louis Jourdan plays a concert pianist in the movie. I've never seen it, becausse at the time my parents thought it would be inappropriate for me to do so! can you imagine? Doris and Louis were always among my favorites!

  • @OperaJH I've always wanted to make a vid with this song ...did a couple and wasn't happy w them. Just what you said - Louis playing a pianist - and of course all these beautiful photo's of them - made it seem like a match to me.

I can see why ...back then.. your parents wouldn't want you to see it. He was trying to kill her -- and we were so much more innocent back then !You should see it. Not one of the best movies - one of those 50s "true - gritty" types though ! Its interesting !

  • That "Julie" movie sounds interesting, I'll have to try to see it someday! I really enjoyed this song, it was hauntingly beautiful! And yes, they do look good together! Enjoyed this very much! ... FrAnK (★★★★★)

  • It is an interesting movie....not one of my fav's. Its very different from her other movies. Worth checking out though... I watch anything with Doris !! haha

Thanks ... happy you enjoyed !!

  • perfect, perfect....we have no stars now a days.

    michael

  • I'm with you on that... the stars have faded a bit in comparison. Thank you.. so happy you enoyed !!

  • Thanks for this wonderful gem of a finding.

  • Thank you .. I'm really happy you enjoyed it !!

  • This is the first of her songs that sound a little dark lol. Thanks for sharing something new to me!

  • It does sound a bit dark ... which is a little different for Doris. She does have many melancholy love songs though. So happy you enjoyed !! Thanks !

  • I taped "Julie" off of TCM a few years ago - it's an interesting little movie, and Louis Jourdan, although he plays a villain, was just soo handsome, and Doris did a great job - and I love the title song. I've never heard this song before (starting to sound like a broken record, I know). Thanks for posting, Toni.

  • Yes -- Louis is really too handsome to be a killer ! It is an interesting movie... one of the few that Marty really produced.Usually he just had producing credit and got a fee. To me its one of a strange genre from the 50s - that tried for gritty realism and didn't always make it. And as for the song ... thats my goal - to get some songs out there that aren't the usual ones you connect with Doris. With 1100 songs there are a lot to choose from !! Thanks Colleen...happy you enjoyed !!

  • thank you !!!!!!!

  • Thank you.... I'm really happy you enjoyed !

  • Toni, I never heard her sing this before...It is so haunting and beautiful :-)

  • @ginnykaren It is a haunting song ... I've always liked it. Another yt friend used to have a video - but its no longer on yt. So I thought - time to do this song. Really happy you enjoyed it !!

Hope you have a wonderful week !!

  • Fabulous :-)

  • @tacysassy Thank you Tacy....really happy you enjoyed !!

  • Beautiful, so haunting moonlight lover - i was listening to this song the other night, I haven't seen julie since i was a young. I think i've only seen it once maybe twice. You can't get it on DVD - shame. Lovely video !

  • @dorisdayno1 It is a haunting song..thought it would go good with pictures from Julie. Not one of her best movies... but she looked beautiful in it - and it was made around Carmel - she fell in love with the area and moved there. It took a few years - really hope she's happy there. Have a lovely week... hugs.. Toni

  • Awe sweet memories.....thanks so much for the

    wonderful share....love it....

    Joyce

  • @teacherjoyceann Thank you Joyce... I'm really happy you enjoyed !!

  • Great video Toni...Keep them coming...5 stars

    Kay..

  • @windmill1947 Thank you Kay ... there's no way I'll ever get all of her 1100 songs made into video's....but i'm trying !! hahaha ! Happy you enjoyed.. have a great week !

  • Interesting because the music is actually based on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata - it's a wonder Edwin hasn't popped in to enlighten us, haha ! And I'm showin' off cos once I was gonna learn piana, but alas didn't... sob, sob. But this is truly beautiful, and love the ending... her singing in this has to place her among the all-time greats - she's my favourite female singer too... thank you Toni, superb, xo.

  • @manfreadstraw You're right ... I think they kind of .... pilfered Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Tommy Oliver gets credit for composing this. It is a beautiful song though...and yes Doris does it beautifully too ! Thank you .... have a lovely week ...hugs.. Toni

  • Once again I am surprised these songs. They are master each. thanks

    Jose

  • @theoverbeat1964 I'm so happy you're enjoying these Doris songs. She really is one of the best ever....in my opinion !!

    Thanks Jose....have a great week !

  • Love the song & the video, Toni as always

this is a 5 ***** work of art, she looks just

gorgeous, and Louis ain't bad either.

Who would want to kill Doris Day, just to

look at her and that voice. I never saw the

movie, but she sounds romantic yet a bit

scared of him, listen closely..... I love it,

Best to you, thanks for sharing, Marcie B.

    xxoxx

  • @Dee530 Marcie ... they DO look so good together ! And you're right ... Louis has got some good looks going on too ! Have you seen the movie... not one of her best ...but he is not too nice in it !! Thank you ... I'm so happy you enjoyed.

Hope you all are having a lovely week.

    Take care... Toni

  • Awesome edit Toni...for a Doris song pretty cool! Thanks David for the share!!!

  • Just Beautiful ! Great Work and your right they look great together ! XxX

  • @MarilynxDoris They really do look soooo good together ! Thanks... really happy you enjoyed !

  • Toni,

I think the message of the movie, Julie, is that there is a very fine line between passion and, murder!!! LOL Then again, should I be laughing??? :))

    David

  • @dlpine71 Hmmm... I guess you're right !

  • Nice, and another song I had not heard. I haven't seen the movie Julie in years. Very nice photos, and they do look good together.

  • @maynardcat Thanks Bill -- I haven't seen it for quite awhile either. David and I are watching her movies in order so we'll be checking it out before too long. Hope you have a great week.. Thanks !

  • Terrific song. Wonderful production. Thank you.

  • @DunhillHilton Thank you - love the song - so happy you enjoyed it !!

  • Ooooooh, Toni ... such a romantic song and video!! Love overcomes everything - even homicidal maniac killers!! Thank goodness, she sees his evil side rather than succomb to his veneer and romantic charms!! Great song and pictures .. making a five star superb video!!!

    xoxo

    David

  • @dlpine71 That movie is supposed to be one of those 50's gritty - real life crime movies...but it doesn't quite make it. But - Doris looks great and Louis isn't too shabby himself !! lol If only he was a nice guy....trying to kill your wife after you killed her first husband isn't too nice !

    Thanks dear xox

  • I smell pathos~ kinda smells like athlete's foot. (reading desciption and wondering if Halloween is over or ....not?) But, hey Doris can overcome anything. That smooth voice is timeless....gotta give it 5* as always.

Hugs, and kisses (wish I had this recording myself)

  • @theengravedbox Hahaha .... love your comment.....you brought me a great big smile !! Yep -- she overcomes it all. I've wanted to do this song for awhile but didn't know what to put with it ... then it hit me - Doris and Louis... they made a good looking couple. Too bad he just wanted to kill her !!! lol I can send you the song if you'd like. Thanks ... have a great week !
