  • Thanks So much for this video. I had my backward rotated SI joint corrected last week by my physiotherapist. Unfortunately since my significant other is away, i am unable to "pull my leg" as instructed by my therapist without the aid of my husband. After performing these exercises, i heard and felt a "pop", and the pain was gone. I am working on strengthening my glutes and back muscles

  • I have been completly cured of SI Joint dysfunction, by going on a gluten free diet. It turns out my ligaments were being damaged by gluten intolerance. I highly recomend trying it if you are suffering like I was. I wish someone had told me about it years ago!! Years wasted in pain!!1

  • @MsRee213 Where did you find this diet? Would I be able to google it?

  • on the last step, are you making the right or left joint move? My problem is on the right. Thanks for the tips!

  • Nice video, thx

Are these stretches supposed to induce a "pop" in the joint similar to the one you would feel at a chiropractor, or are they simply meant to increase flexibility/strenght in the agitated area?

    Thank you in advance

  • @HrJeps mainly just to increase flexibility in that area... thanks!

  • A physical therapist taught me similar excercises after she diagnosed me with right SI joint problems. After faithfully doing them for over two years, I find I have less problems than I used to.....he seems to be very knowledgable about this condition! Instead of putting my hands between my knees, I use a sturdy ball (like a dodge ball) to press in.

  • I did the exercises this morning, was in the middle of a disc golf tournament and my left hip was killing me. I normally do the last two, the side to side stretching. I also tried not keeping the knee so high during the side by side stretching and I could really feel the stretch right in the hot spot. The pain went away for the final round and I came in second. (first loser) thanks though.

  • i actually have SI laxity now because I was popping the joint too often when I was young

  • Hi,

I have had long term SI joint pain and recurrent hamstring, groin and back issues on the right side.

I am a competitive semi-pro soccer player and this chronic problem is holding me back and has been for a long time.

i tried these simple manauvers and they seem to provide some relief.

I am hoping y can provide me some insite on the rationale and theory behind these exercises aswell as your take on assessing and treating the pain and dysfunction that is causing recurring injury and pain.

  • oh my god.. a minute ago i was barely able to walk 5 steps without not feeling this sharing annoying pain in my hip.. just three stretches and it's like i never even had this pain.. wow, that was instant relief! you guys rock!!!

  • I have cyatic pain in left leg and i´m doing exercices to relif the pain, slowly improving.

This one - in the final part when came across the leg to the other side i have alot of pain.... i´m not sure if i should insist or stop...

i wonder why do i have so much pain with that posture... not even when i do piriforme strech exercices i have so much pain... not even my biggest daily pain.. it is really out of porportion... i´m really wondering why this particular movement brings such reaction

  • I'm afraid of doing this. This is serious stuff. I sprained my SI joint on Sunday. I'm icing it. Seen a chiropractor twice already. Getting a little relief but I can't afford to miss work any more days. This exercise seems like it will agitate the injury. I'll work myself up to trying it and let you know how it works.

  • @JoViaArmstrong Hi Jovia, don't force the issue.. wait till you feel a little more comfortable with trying it. Hope it helps!

  • @JoViaArmstrong I had a procedure done that caused inflammation in the SI joint. At first I thought it was nerve damage. I have had this pain for a few months with no treatment. I went back to my doctor who performed the procedure and they are going to give me steroid injections. Anywhere between 1-4 every 4 weeks. They take like 20 mins. Get the injections if you can and try and get State Disability until you can better manage the joint and until the injections are complete.

  • Good video, but you also have to address the point that if the pain increases with any of these techniques the person should only do the one that produces the relief. SI joint pains are USUALLY one-sided. Also, sometimes the isometric hip ADDuction may be painful and hip ABDuction may be the one that produces relief (anterior/posterior distraction/compression of the SI joint). - Food for thought.

  • @OlliMSa Thanks for the feedback!

  • THe problem with this video is that it only shows a "shotgun" approach to treating the sacroiliac joint and does not give a needed specific approach that can prevent recurrence, a specific approach can only be determined by an experienced and trained therapist.

  • to much promo talk...

  • how many seconds do you hold each stretch and how many times a day should you do this? I am definately going to check out the website!!

  • @mummy2emma there is no set time or frequency, but in general at least once a day...

  • Excellent! Very helpful.Thanks.

  • @TruthofDilly you are very welcome, glad we can help...

  • I have had severe back pain for one week and a half, laying in bed without being able to sit down, and tried everything from icing the hell out of it, and noninflammatory medication without success. Then I decided to go to the MD orthopedic "doctor", and after taking x rays he said I had a bulging disc, and that it either will fix on its own, or surgery. Then I tried your video thing, and POP, I am pain free. thanks.

  • That's AWESOME! It makes my day when we can help people. Spread the word to others who are in pain....

    Thanks!

  • I've had a severely sore back for the last three days (such as I haven't experienced before) and I've seen slow improvement with some generic stretching. I just watched and ran through this routine twice to be sure I got it right, and although I didn't feel anything 'give' yet I can assuredly say the pain has decreased since doing so. I intend to repeat the process. The doctor could do less for me than you just did in 2 minutes. Thank you.

  • Im so glad it helped you, some doctors just don't get it:)

  • It's not for lack of trying or care (I've got a great doctor), but you can't teach what you don't know, can you? I will be certain to refer back here in the future, as well as pass on your knowledge. Bless you for giving it freely!!

  • Yes you nailed it.... Thanks for sharing and best of luck to you

  • I have a question..my si joint is rotated forward (towards my front side or stomach) and my left joint is rotated the opposite way (towards my back) does this mean I should only do these stretches to one side for a while to get it back nuetral or should I do both sides right away...thanks!!!

  • very informative thank you

  • I play hockey twice a week and I find that I am quite sore afterwards due to the quick directional changes on the ice and also due to the impact when jumping over the boards and hitting the ice. I started doing these exercises before and after hockey, as well as a couple of times each day and have never felt this good in years. My SI joint doesn't seem to be locking up near as much, but if it does, I can finally release it!!!!

    Thanks

  • Thats great! Im glad we have helped...

  • Mr right SI is also out. Ive seen osteopaths, and being doing pilates and yoga with not much relief so far. I will try these exercises daily and see how they help. Thanks.

  • i've done this 2 times in 2 days..how often show i do this... my right side of sacroilliac joint is out ....will this help me to put the right side back in place...

  • Thanks for sharing your experience, im glad it was useful for you. Keep us posted on your progress....

  • I have had back pain for 7 months now. After 4 months, I was diagnosed with a stuck SI joint. The military will only send me to a chiropractor every 2 weeks, but my SI joint will get out of place in a day or so. I have paid for a chiropractor but at $54 a session it gets expensive. The second time I did the exercises on this video, I was able to achieve about the same amount of SI joint manipulation that a chiropractor can provide. I will post my progress in a week or 2.

  • how's your back now doody?

  • Hi doody, can we get an update on your progress? I hope it's going well.
