How to set custom screensaver on kindle 4 nontouch

So I have putty open, and when I type in the IP address there is no kindle option. When I click Open, it comes up with a blank command prompt and then times out. I run Windows 7...what am I doing wrong?

Works like a charm. Mine is a UK non-touch Kindle 4, these instructions were flawless. Just a note to others here - once you've put images into the screensaver folder you need to restart the kindle before they will work. Some other people seem to be complaining about a white screen so maybe that's it.

Thanks! worked fine for me with my new Kindle 4 non touch (no special offers). I recommend you add a link to "PuTTY" seeing as how lots of people don't have a clue what it is (myself included!) ;)

Hi, It doesn't work, I've succeed to create the "screensaver" folder, BUT no matter I put png ot jpg files into it (all 600 x 800), and then restart, it just display the same screen saver.....

I have redo it twice, still cannot fix it, please help

When i open the putty console it wont let me type in any thing. Much less show "login as:", and Im pretty sure i followed the video to a T.

I'm lost, not very tech savy etc but im following all the steps as far as 1:37 (noticed when i go into properties virtualboxedbridge driver isnt showing on the list but anyhow i go through and set everything exactly as in the video. Its after that i'm stuck, i downloaded putty but i don't get how to get the kindle to show up on the menu list under default settings.

Not sure what im doing wrong.

@s8nbunny you are not supposed to go to propertis on the virtualbox, the adapter is called usb ethernet/rdins adapter

@xinistri make sure that there is a symbolic link between folders by typing ls -l in the console

Follow directions, and I keep putting images, png, 600x800 into the screensaver folder and restarting, but no luck. Still getting the old screensavers.

@TheNielasaran solve it installing driver manually from windows list, choosing Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter.

Video doesn't tell you that after Restart Kindle will keep coming back to Diag mode. You need to disable on Diag menu, then restart!

@kabbur87 When I go to manage network devices I have by default "Obtain an IP address automatically" and if I change it to "Use the following IP address" and set it to 192.168.15.1 my internet connection goes off, therefore I'm not able to access my kindle through Putty.

Then if I leave it as "Obtain an IP address automatically" and try to access Putty through 192.168.15.244 there is a connection error and I can't access the kindle.

Any suggestions to what to do? Thank you!

@eduardoelizondorueda then you are changing the settings on the wrong connection, look at the video again
