@freak4388 Depends on the Period. During Frederic the Greats time Prussia was a major player. Napoleon and the French then ran rough over the German states during the Napoleonic wars. In fact the defeats were so bad the Prussians drastically rethought how they fought wars and came up with many of the great military institutions which played a major role in Prussian and alter German dominance from the Franco-German war to the Second world war.

Empire does not follow any real timeline. While playing, it is entirely possible that the French Revolution will break out much earlier than 1789, or possibly not at all.

I'm well aware that any nation can go through the revolutionary process (I've logged well-over 100 hours in this game). I said that the game does not follow a historical timeline. By that, I mean that the Kingdom of Great Britain does not, by default, go to war with France in 1754 or 1798, nor does the Kingdom of Prussia automatically declare war on Austria in 1740.

The modern german tricolor first appeared during the Prussian revolution of 1848, so it's far more believable than you think.

And the French revolution might aswell have happened 20 years before 1789 (it just needed a spark), so it could be an alternate history thingy

@Lulzrustypipes not entirely, though it may not be accurate it plays a huge role in moral, as you'll see the enemy gets nervous in game if they are under artillery attack. so though you may not see your cannon's decimate enemy lines they will do work on their moral and composure.

@JFCPantheras it is good in terms of say defense but the later atillery, say mortars with their percussive shells are better suited for an offensive role as the opposition army can be decimated before they can really fight your troops and with an inability to retaliate but i will say that when attempting to hold a position early in the game this canister shot can be a life saver as you can rout an attacker without loosing as many troops as they did

@Lulzrustypipes Then clearly you are useless at this game. Artillery (when used by even semi competant players) will win battles before the lines ever meet.  Here's a tip in a 20 card army a good layout is 10 x line infantry, 1 x general, 3 x cannons (make good use of canister shot), 3 x howitzers (use only carcass and quicklime) and 3 cavalry (prefferably dragoons). Set cannons right on the the battle line, with only the guns poking through for maximum killing power and crew suvivability.

I have one battle where i wiped out 5-6 units with grape shot... only general and one very injured line infantry left and 5 foot arty on a hill.... vs 5-6 wounded line infantry. Just use my inf to hold them in place then grape shot into their flanks. Instant rout :D.

At least it's accurate in the way that the smoke obscures everything when the troops volley...that's where the "fog of war" saying came from, I think. If there was no wind, even a general couldn't see more than a big cloud of white smoke with a few vague figures inside of it. The troops in line would have less than 10feet of visibility, if they were lucky.
