@chibinski this is helen...no I no longer perform. Some people sing when they are depressed, sad, in pain...I'm not one of those. I can only sing when I there is happiness or at least the possibility of happiness. Not one note has been sung by me in the last 21 years. I believe I will remain musically mute the rest of my life, although it has occured to me that I may actually sing on my death bed, like the fabled swans who spend their lives in silence until moments before their release.
@chibinski Helen again: There are some old tapes recorded by Peter Laughner and Terry Hartman and Walther Wefel..but I never had them in my possession and they are probably lost or deteriorated past playability now. It's alright. In my opinion we have too much music in the world as it is. We have become accustomed to it, and it is cheap and easy. Music should be rare as a double rainbow, the northern lights, a rose in the snow. And although I enjoy recorded music, it seems wrong somehow...
tHERE IS A VERY INTERESTING BOOK ABOUT HIM AN HIS SON jEFF AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH "WATER". It is called "Destellos en el agua" by Gabriel Villota Toyos. I don´t know if it is translated to English.
fred neil and buckley, i have read, were good friends, and did a lot of smack back then. fred neil wrote this music and was into dolphins --i think rescue, etc.--in florida. fred neil also wrote the music for midnight cowboy? poetic license, i think is what underscores this music. this rendition is my favorite, buckley's delivery and those vibes!!!!!!! m-m-m-m-m
@rEMINEMTGR he'd actually been clean for a while (of heavy stuff) and was somewhere with a friend who had left a couple of lines out. buckley assumed it was coke and snorted it. it was heroin, and he od'd. if he hadn't been clean, he probably would have been able to handle it. call that whatever the fuck you will. life. anyway, this is what i can remember...i hope someone with more accuracy or time will put us right.
This is such a great CD. It came out in the early 90's, nearly 20 yrs after his death. The clarity of the recording is astonishing given the fact that it was recorded in 1968. He had such an amazing voice. No small wonder that opera singers often showed up to see him perform
Hi West, I have this CD, a precious gift. I am glad to see your comment about the opera singers, I take it as true. I am in Sydney, Australia, and once saw, that is heard, a man walking along a street singing, he had a most amazing voice. A tenor. He was warming up for a performance at the Sydney Opera House. We talked, and he knew Tims work, said Tim had a very great voice.
I just wrote a magnus opus about Tim and got edited over too many words, anyway Pavarotti thought Tim had one of the greatest untrained voices of the twentieth century.
those vibes are amazing--they create a richness to this music that i would not have anticipated--not being a musician. is this vibrophonist the same david friedman who i can google? initially, i figured it would be carter collins but i read somewhere that he did not attend this concert. when i am not listening to this song, it runs thru my head constantly.
ooooh delicious. me thinks he was high doing this one. well, maybe not. maybe one just has to mix things up for a change. thx for the post. i'll be back to listen to this again and again.
this is cool. if you listen to this version and the whistle test one its like before and after the drugs and experimenting. lol. like the two song to siren versions. they're both good and its GREAT to have the option but i prefer the after versions. thanks for posting

"Sometimes I wonder, just for a while, do you ever remember me..." (Once I was).
"Oh but sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me..." (Dolphins) - he just asked me that twice in a row and I said oh Tim, more than you know!

jpvbm 1 year ago
@jpvbm In stead of dolphins, you can say anything really. Try job, people, loves ones. In sea you can use the world.
