  • i can't lie 1:55 is pretty boss

  • Does anybody else like being able to comment on videos, unlike the Conservative Party's channel?

  • Stephen Harper and Conservative party brought Canadians back to 150 billion dollar debt and who puts a lawyer Jim Flaherty in charge of Minister of Finance. We should start paying lawyers to do are yearly income taxes and finance are money, let’s see how that would work. Smart Canadians

  • whitehouse.so change the way you look at politicts for GOOD

  • If that video was a university project I'd be charged with plagiarism and kicked out of school.

  • So how about the Libs tell us why we should vote for them vs. constantly attacking the opposition? just saying.

  • @bnikolaou1975 1) The Libs and NDP *HAVE* been offering campaigns of their own. 2) You don't think that Harper setting a new record for corrupt and criminal behaviour, is reason enough to not vote for him?

  • Liberal Platform... Strikingly similar to NDP Platform

  • @aaron5425 How so?

  • And I wonder WHY our country is conservative? Maybe because they don't make stupid videos like these.

  • @endowell Canada's not conservative. I don't know what parallel universe you live in, but the last I looked most Canadians had lower-case liberal values -- and Harper was only elected by a fifth of the population.

Oh, and BTW Harper's attack ads are more stupid than this one.

  • The North American defence perimeter will be up to us, those on the North American continent.I do not fear the elite.I will not cower and hide away from politicos or the corporate machine.Instead i will stand my ground.I have to right to decide who i wish to be the leader of my country.I certainly wont let fear take that right away.Stay frosty.

  • what an absurd criticism. Maybe you should focus on why your leader would be better then theirs rather then insulting them. You behave like children and neither of the parties are fit to represent Canadians interests.

  • Does Harper have any neocon "campaign strategists" from the States on his campaign?

  • the adds are different the american one is more hollywood where as the canadian one just makes me feel more patriotic if it wasnt for the conservative logo at the end you would think its a beer commercial

  • Stephen Harper sounds more like a wiener than Tim Pawlenty. That's about the only difference betweent the two.

These ads are pretty bad ass, but I'll never vote for em. I don't wanna feel like I've just seen an ad for a Jerry Bruckheimer film when I'm looking for more substance. It's a political campaign, not the summer blockbuster movie weekend.

  • i don't see anything wrong with copying. theres plagerism in every sort of media as well as gaming. so if something works why not change it a little and make it your own?

  • I told my sister, weeks ago... To expect american tactics in the coming election from Harper.

  • The American one was way better. Harpers is a cheap dollar store knock off. At least the American one was logical taking about overcoming the economic crisis , harpers is pure bull shit, uninspiring, empty and meaningless. That speech could apply to absolutely anything. Truly pathetic Harper, I am ashamed to say you lead our country.

  • better than those silly ads where parties rip on each other

  • I love that add ....gee ya, it's really something to be ashamed of if your a Liberal....patriotism.

  • This is total crap. Make a video showing us what you'll do, not what someone else did. I'm a younger voter with not a whole lot of political knowledge/influence but these attack each other videos are just terrible.

  • @Zacho222 your wrong, harper will destroy everything canadian and that's why people need to vote liberal

dont believe me and watch what happens, i study politics at the university level and the neo-liberal totalitarian regime that harper runs is clearly based on exploitation and a general loss of sovereignty to the democratic system we call canada

  • @Zacho222 try all the other liberalvideo videos...

  • Ads like this are done every single day! It's just plain and simple emotional appeal. I'm sure every party has used it at least once ;) Ads like this are made to make you feel patriotic, warm and fuzzy inside, in the hopes you will vote for the advertised party.

Make up your mind logically! We all have brains... use them and stop complaining about and relying on superficial ads!

  • This is cornier than the speech in Independence day before they fight the aliens.

  • How about you campaign on substantive changes you want to make within the government not some bullshit about how two ads have the same soundtrack in the background.

  • Well at least they aren't bashing each other.

  • what a theater.

  • Better than an attack ad I guess

  • What is so bad about his campaign being similar?? It seems like the liberals are just trying to bash Harper on a personal basis...this looks like the liberals are in highschool...so immature.

  • Obama for prime minister also?

  • thats actually not that closs nice try though.

  • Wow, what else can I say? Copycat comes to mind... ties with the American Tea Party movement also comes to mind.

  • "Canada must reflect the true character of the Canadian people."

And that's exactly why Harper needs to end. We are better than what he is portraying us to be like to other nations. Canadians will never be represented as how we truly are when under his lead.

  • Think that is similar? Look at the 2003 speach between the Australia and Canadian PM talking about the countries entering into the "War OF Terror"! Stage acts, brought to you by the Globalists ;)

  • I love how this an attack ad of an attack ad

  • Be fooled!

  • First step is to admit whoever gets power is eventually gonna mess things up, question is who will cause the least damage. Religious robot Stephen Harper beliefs that only serve a select minority, don

  • The point is: Do you want a Tea Party copy-cat running our co

By the way, attack ads have been the cornorstone of American politics since time immemorial. I always thought we as a nation were better than that...

  • It's a good ad but wow is that an exact copy. I don't like how Harper is using American political tactics with his attack ads too, even if they do work. I feel we're a better country then that.

  • @TheBlake1012 the liberals have attack ads too...

  • @TheBlake1012 i find that fact the liberals have so many attack adds is a bit worse then this.

  • @TheBlake1012 then why are u watching a liberal attack ad?

  • lol i thought harper just hired the molson canadian marketing team.

it's a good ad, but ad is just an ad, people aren't (at least i hope) mindless enough to think the guy's a hero just because his commercial is epic.

  • Hollow words. If conservatives are re-elected, Canada will never be the same again.

  • @ColdNovemberRain Everything will be the same. Everything is always the same...

  • From a logical point of view.. simply atrocious advertisements with no weight. From an emotional point of view.. outstanding commercials.

Canadians, please don't follow the emotional arguments heard so many times around both American and Canadian campaigns. Stick to making a logical decision based on party platforms.

  • ... and? this was well made, I think liberals are just jealous... though harper's speech did not seem nearly as inspirational. editing wasn't nearly as well done as the Tea party's either, harper's is too choppy/ abrupt. though it is very similar in form, good comparison to the tea party ad

  • I'd like to 'like' this but what if I want to go to a Stephen Harper rally in the future?

  • @donkeyfarmgirl You'll first have to join the Harperjugend before attending Harper rallies.

  • well I'd rather have an ad that is similar to an american one than pathetic attack ads. All these attack ads do is make it seem like they can't get people to vote for them based on a strong platform. Instead they have to try and get people to vote for them only because of something bad the other candidate did. As a young voter this really does not apeal me to the whole political process, and you wonder why the voter rate is so low. Canadians deserve more respect than this crap

  • honestly? you'll allow a comment that calls our prime minister a "douchebag" but you won't let people intelligently state their opinions.... can't to show this W5 in the email im sending them. You can watch it this sunday and maybe then after you receive bad publicity on national tv about this you might allow the freedom of speech we are enititled to as a canadian citizen. Either remove comments from being made at all on your videos or allow EVERYONE to comment.

  • wow, how do you expect people to vote for the liberals when fair discussion isn't even allowed in the comment section? Freedom of speech, what? I'm sorry but if they took the same time to make their own platform look more appealing rather than tryin to diminish the image of Harper then maybe canadians would pay more attention. But instead they make videos like this and dodge questions about a "coalition". I'm not saying one party is better, its really a lesser of two evils.

  • @Slapchop21 are you kidding me? I can't watch tv without a conservative attack ad taking ignatieffs words out of context at least twice every 30 minutes.

  • These are really beautiful and moving ads, frankly, but it's terrible that they would sway votes. Neither of them say anything about the politicians they're advertising or their platforms. I do love Canada, but that doesn't mean you can hijack that patriotism to make me support Harper's Conservatives after all he's done.

  • What? There were no oil sands in the ad, just a bunch of pussy trees and mountains! Where is our pride in the energy of the future?

  • "honourable in our dealings" ... I guess they should show a picture of asbestos in there, and Harper selling it to developing countries

  • this was actually a good commercial. Do I like Harper's recent dealings? No. Do I want a raise in taxes and less disposable income than I already have so it can all go overseas? HELL NO. My family comes first

  • Plagiarism .... You can not have Freedom and security ..... I do my part to secure My home my town and Provence The Governments job it to secure boreders and air space... Do Not treat the population as possible enemies or "terrorists". The most important issues are Health, Educationand investing in Canada..... and not economy not security and certainly not MORE police with more powers bill C6 , C31 , C32 and C36 .... all struck down thank God. I LOVE CANADAway it is. North strong & Free!

  • Meh, Canadian political commercials usually suck. Even if it was copied, this one still wasn't as terrible as others. I dislike some of what's happened in the Harper campaign, but this guilt by association thing is a bit silly. If the Conservatives had created an ad similar to Obama's 08 campaign ad, would there be a similar fuss? Focus on the message, I'm sick of opposing political parties badmouthing others instead of coming up with ideas. I hate negative campaigning. All parties need to stop.

  • And how is this vid going to help me with understanding what changes the liberal party is about?!

  • @grenier70 it's not. they are just trying to screw over the conservatives as much as possible to make up for their lack of competence.

  • @grenier70 It's just criticizing to how Canada is becoming closer and closer to the US regarding our country as a nation. We don't want to be the US and therefore shouldn't have the same ideals as the US... gotta love "criticizm" -_-*

  • @grenier70 How about just trying to get rid of the most divisive, corrupt, and criminal PM we've ever had?

(and no, I'm not a Liberal supporter)

  • Most successfull nation world has ever known? ... In what scale?

  • @SpecklePattern The US has one of the highest standards of living, especially when you look back to only 100 hundred years ago when there was subsistence farming, poverty and disease was rampant.

I love the American people, but I want to do away with our government.

Canada is a great country too. Just too fucking cold for me.

  • @SpecklePattern justin bieber, hahaha jk :P

  • Holy Crap! That Video.......... Epic

  • BECAUSE THE AD IS SIMILAR THEY AND THEIR POLICIES ARE TOO

  • its a good ad

  • To be honest we really have no good party/solid leader to run this country. We need to stick to two parties so there's ALWAYS a majority government. No wonder nothing gets done.

  • I'm confused. Tim Pawlenty is an establishment Republican Candidate, he is not a Tea Partier. He has some appeal to the Tea Party side of American politics, but he is not a Tea Partier. I would try to accuse the liberals of being sensationalist, but I'm fairly certain they don't have any more of a clue what a tea partier than the ruling Canadian Liberal party, (aka the Conservatives) do.

  • I found both commercials pretty good.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the footage at 2:22 of Harper at the UN trying to get Canada on the Security Council last year (and failing for the first time in decades)?

  • I like how there was hockey in the American ad too.

  • I wouldn't trust Harper to manage Walmart little lone run the country.

I believe a dead rat on a stick would be a better candidate.

I hope everybody will vote for someone other then Harper.

  • "settling the west wasn't easy" i'll say, there was so many damn indians to displace and slaughter

  • I hate harper... I hate all politicians... yes some rich white dude knows how to rule 30 million plus... give me a break...

  • I am American born, and i live in Canada, and I want to say;

PLEASE! What makes Canada better than the U.S. is it's Liberal views. If Canada loses this, reason will be lost in North America.

  • If you ask me, I think the Liberals are advertising for the PC, no where in this video do I see anything related to the Liberals...at the end of the day, the Liberals just advertised for the PCs

  • Harper is an American wannabe.

  • Harper is dull and unentertaining. He has no personality, no emotion, no charisma, no nothing. He's just a chub old man with tiny eyes bringing more taxes. I want someone with charisma, someone with personality, someone who can represent canadians other than just being friendly socially awkward people. I want someone who's name is heard elsewhere, someone who speaks with power and pride (Obama), it is only then will I vote for a candidate that I deem fit.

So far, there has been none.

  • with all this political bashing going back and forth, all poiticians just hav their own agendas. they dont care what we think because all they want to do is cover their asses during election and once they get that seat, all they do is warm it up. not once they told us why they are running, what beliefs they stand up for and what they will do for us. all ive heard is vote for them instead of the other party because... etc. like cmon, grow up and do your job. dont cheat us out of our tax dollars.

  • I thought the american one was a freakin movie trailer

  • why are there only white people in the ad for canada

  • as if any Canadian ads are creative...

Rather than the lack of creativity of the conservative's ad,

I'm more disappointed of the fact that the Liberals are wasting their time trying to stress their opponent's flaws instead of emphasizing their own strengths.

  • Why is there so much snow to describe Canada, we got like 2 solid days of snow this year :(

  • @djhinku umm... you seem to be forgetting that canada is more than just where you live. there was TONS of snow this winter where i live. i dont know where you live, but one of the things that bothers me most is when people think that canada is defined by a few places when really every single province and territory, every rural and urban community, contributes to canada as a whole.

  • @djhinku You obviously haven't been to calgary. Snow every like 2 seconds :(

  • @djhinku Perhaps where you live

  • @djhinku where do YOU live? there was above average snowfall this year.

  • I'm not a fan of either the liberal of conservative parties. and i'll state why, all they do is attack eachother. we need a party who we can trust, whos morals code is disgusted with putting out a campaign full of adds saying what everyone else is doing wrong, but instead spending their money saying what theyre going to do for the infrastructure of this glorious country.

  • Check your memory fellow Canucks - dont forget Harper's little NAU speech with Obama only months ago. Don't forget him suspending parliament, his entire administration was found in contempt- and for major abuse of power which we have lost track of in terms of amount - Harper is a member of the elite, not one of us. Ignatieff just did an add talking about his family moving to North America and his book shows his entire lineage is elite. Lesser of two evils? more like the evil of two lessers.

  • @sealof1nation Ignatieff is Harper light. No matter who wins, we lose.

  • @sealof1nation NDP.

  • @sealof1nation

u da man! keep speakin truth!

  • @sealof1nation Does the loss of our seat on the UN security council count towards how Canada is viewed Internationally?

  • Both videos are sickening

  • comments are filtered, well the liberals just lost my vote, lol

  • @TheMinecraftSource Actually they are moderated for hate speech and flame wars. They have allowed bad comments about libers to be posted and pro Harper. Better than the cons who just outright block all comments.

  • @TheMinecraftSource I don't think the comments are filtered lol

  • @TheMinecraftSource Well they let this one through, so they aren't filtering THAT much.

At least the Libs let you comment at all.

  • Can i has freedom of speech?

  • Meh, Colbert did it better.

  • It was from a 2006 re-election campaign - before the Tea Party ever got started.

  • Creepy! Go liberals!

  • lol harper kicked out two students who were interested in attending his rally.. not troublemakers at all.

  • Anyone else noticed this video infringes on the rights of Blizzard Entertainment... the music is from StarCraft II...

  • Too bad it has Harper

  • Great country, too bad it has h

  • Vote Harper if you hate Canada!

  • uploaded by the liberals, lol

  • liberalvideo>> Comment Pending Approval!

Oh. OK... sorta like Conservative meetings where opinion/thought might be asked to leave...

    ;->

  • @bluehacklemafia where do get some one is calling it plagiarism? i dont see that claim any where but i could have missed it. but if their is no such claim then all it is doing is showing how it basically took the same add and made it canadian the music is virtually the same the pace is about the same even the msg is the same imo what they are showing is that they are more like the states but try to disguise it. nationalist msg are great but imo they think they could have chosen a better way

  • lmao Michael Bay must be proud

  • despite not agreeing with Harp or T-Paw politically. They are well made ads from a production standpoint ('sensaltionist', 'patriotic', 'cinematic' all that crap). haha even the fonts are similar slim serif typefaces.

  • the only difference is there's no cheering in harpers

  • they're similar. who cares?

  • nationalism shouldn't be mixed with politics, that's called fascism.

p.s. I like How I can comment here but I can't do the same for the Conservative youtube channel.

  • That ad is amazing you can't blame the tories for ripping it off, the grits just wish they had thought of it first.

  • putting your head down and getting it done (translation: not looking in the eye of any of those who stand in the way of progress as you define it!)

  • Harper is so original.

    /sarcasm

  • The true character of the Canadian people is not reflected in Stephen Harper.

Or (sadly) in any of the other party leaders. :(

  • For a person who has been harping about Ignatieff's attachment to the U.S. and his lack of sincerity about Canada, this video shows Harper's idolatrous relationship with the U..S. Does that mean his role models are the tea party leaders: Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck?

  • I totally disagree with all the negative commentary. Regardless of the resemblance in style, the message is inspiring.

  • @Isaaczeitou What party or public person would not support a single one of these notions? What, are they trying to imply that the other guys don't love Canada as much? No they are playing the heart strings of the gullible and the simple-minded. It's like a commercial for a Canada that they own, like them changing "Goverment of Canada" to "Harper Government" it's a ruse.

  • the tea party is virulently antiCanadian....any surprise harpo fondly borrows from them ?

  • @MrTrueCanuck You obviously have no idea about the history of the USA, and the reason it was formed. The tea party is about freedom, the democrats are about communism, enough sid.

  • this is exceptional copying? Really? have you guys never seen an advertisement before? Theres only a handful of concept rehashed over and over again....

  • Hey lookie 1:46, Monsanto truly loves its Canada..

  • hahahha

  • Eh, to Harper's credit, the "sell your campaign as if it were a movie preview" tactic isn't terribly original, and at least it included shots of people other than white men and children. But that still doesn't make the ad anything but a piece of crap.

  • "Canada is, and always has been, our country!" Really? Jesus what a load of Conservative crap.

  • Harper's always been an inauthentic mimic.........How shameful...I'm so embarrassed for our country.

  • man, the liberals are good at finding stuff like this...

  • @xXGriff25Xx YAAY GO LIBERAL

  • There's more, but you get my point. I truly believe Stephen Harper is an American-wannabe who hates his own country. His words prove it. And, you need to remember that the Conservative Party's roots are in the Reform Party, the most right-wing party in Canadian history. It isn't the party of Diefenbaker, Clark, Stanfield etc. Clark has dissociated himself from the Conservative Party. Diefenbaker & Stanfield are turning over in their graves as they watch Harper try to Americanize Canada.

  • What a crock. Flashy commercial, probably was produced by the same company that did the one for Pawlenty.

Sadly, none of the things advocated in the commercial is what you are trying to bring to the Canadian people.

    Closed campaign forums.

Asking Students to leave by force.

Using the RCMP to remove students.

    No freedom of speech.

    No freedom of association.....G8/G20

No freedom of the press.....2 questions please

Orchestrated photo ops....for the last 5 years

    Prorogation X3

  • hahaha "Faithful to our commitments!!!"....... *cough*cough*TREATIES

  • wait...why are the comments filtered.

    wtf

  • TOO EPIC

  • They both were powerful ads.

    Thanks for sharing liberals :)

  • I'd like to see a Conservative ad with some Stephen Harper quotes about how he REALLY feels about Canada. I think he hates this country -

"Canada appears content to become a second-tier socialistic country, boasting ever more loudly about its economy and social services to mask its second-rate status."

“Canada is a Northern European welfare state in the worst sense of the term, and very proud of it”

"Canada is a vast and empty country."

  • Patriotism...the refuge of the scoundrel.

  • Stealing. Lying. Cheating. Threatening. Wasn't Harper taught anything as a child?

  • The sad thing is, the older population thinks this kind of shit is the bees knees, and because most of the older population votes and the younger population abstains you can bet your Canadamerican asses Harper will be still around for years to come in which he'll have more time to dismantle our democracy's accountability in order to further his own personal agenda.

  • Don't try to wrap yourself in Red & White Stevie. Canadians know that what you're secretly selling is the Red, White & Blue.

  • Wow, they really went all out on the stock footage archives for that one.

  • Sorry conservatives but Canada is not only YOUR country.

  • Sorry conservatives but Canada is not only YOUR country.

  • How can we be free & great Canadians when Harper is not even willing to call this government The Canadian Government (He prefers Harper's Government), when people are booted out of public rallies based on their facebook pages, when corrupt officials are hired as right hand men and when multibillion military deals are made just to appease big brother when only a tenth of that can make higher education free in Canada.... What a douchebag!!!

  • Considering how angry the world is at us right now for Harper's complete disregard of climate change, he hasn't done our nation a good service. Our reputation around the world is in the crapper now thanks to him. This piece of refurbished Republican propaganda is going to cause a lot of Canadian eyes to roll, and hopefully some of that will result in votes for the other parties...

  • This coming from a party who's leader claims america to be his home

  • Never mind the plagiarism for a moment, even if this ad were completely original it actually SAYS nothing. It's totally sensationalist, which is frustrating because I do feel that people could be fooled by advertising. So so frustrating...

  • lol, I liked the tea party trailer better.

  • It's even the same font man!

  • @TheMaskedDonut ...you're right.

  • Hey Harper, I hear Sarah Palin is looking for work ....

  • Love how this Liberal youtube page will not allow any opposing views. Very open and democratic...makes me question your charge of contempt against Harper's government. Well Iggy, make this campain a good one. It will be your last!

  • @Username646464 Yeah, and your comment is blocked too! Oh wait...

  • @Username646464 The irony is that you're commenting on a Liberal video, denouncing their censorship, while nobody for or against can post anything on the Conservative page or videos. A term from George Orwell's 1984 comes to mind, "doublethink". It really sums up anyone who follows a party unquestioningly.

  • Horrifying. I wonder if former Progressive Conservatives---the sort who believed in Diefenbaker, Stanfield and Clark---are altogether aware of what has been made of their party since it was taken over by the Reform Party.

  • Every political party borrows from others, so the plagiarism doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that Harper idolizes the American Right, even as it destroys our poor neighbours to the South.

  • @stol22 The American Right isn't the reason that American's are struggling, big Government, large social obligations to pensions and medicare have taken America down. The American Right, true right wingers advocate for smaller government and a balanced budget. So to say American Right is destroying America isn't correct.

  • This ad provides me with absolutely no reason to actually vote Conservative. I'm tired of ads that either rely on attacking other parties or a bunch of flash like this one.

As much as I dislike the conservatives, this problem is not limited to their party. I would have so much more faith in our system if parties actually campaigned on the merits of their own platforms and ideas

  • Here's a small excerpt of an Amazon review of that governor's book by someone living in Minnesota (G. Gonzalez), which shows we shouldn't be fooled by flashy Conservative trailers: "Nowhere in this book will... Pawlenty mention how he helped drag down Minnesota in almost every category-- education, roads, health care, financial responsibility, and much more... It takes a very special kind of cruelty to cut aid to the very poor and disabled, including my sister-in-law. "

  • The tea party commercial gave me chills...

  • It's ironic that Harper's Hollywood-style appeal to Canadian patriotism turns out to be an imitation of a Republican ad. Did they really hire the same ad agency?
