This is a tiny voice, with out much ping to it.. beautiful, but this is not a voice for this aria, for this role.. She has a great voice for Mozart, Strauss and some French stuff.. other than that, this is not right.
This is weird. It`s like parts sung together... some of them sound good others bad. And not quite as dramatic as it should be. Zeani had maybe a similar voice as in size, but she sing this really violent.
A smart singer; since it's open season on any role as long as you have a following and good marketing, she could be trying to sing this on stage and not in front of a mic.
She also approaches the heavier lunges of this aria in a safe way that does not make her venture outside of her typical mannerisms.
Very strange. I know she sang a version that was the first Puccini composed and it's a little different from the definitive one. But it's not the case here, because the music is the one for the definitive version.
@Pamp02 You know, this is Puccini's first version, which has basically the same music but different words. You really shouldn't make cheap and unreasonable criticisms when you basically can't be sure why the words are different. This is no Fleming version, but Puccini's. Go complain with him, then.
what a horrible performence oh my god what was wrong with her she forgot the line in 4 ocations bad bad rennee its si a machiatto di sangue AHH! not Haaaa and haaa
@MAPIAKALLAS Come on, don't pretend you're naive, for adding a /h/ sound before the "ah!" is a very known way of enhancing the dramatic quality of that interjection. Fleming is not the first nor will she be the last singer to make a more forceful sound and thus sound like she added a /h/ before a vowel.
This is incredible. Why have only 1,200 people seen this!? Is there anyone out there who even comes close to Renee Fleming? ....Nope. I can't think of anyone. *sighs* *swoons*
wow this is the first time Fleming manages to make me shiver in a genuinely dramatic aria with vocal outbursts and volume dynamics - she truly let her miraculous Voice explode here

@Homoclassicus Ok, but this one ISN'T the first version. That one has a little bit different music in its final.

jawhitney25: Sumi Jo, Diana Damrau, and Gruberova. However, Madame Fleming's voice is quite venerable.
